I thought season 2 was actually very good so I'm happy to see this. Surprised it took so long given the investment so far.
Enjoyed the last few episodes that focused on the deception - really improved it overall.

Just started watching this. It's alright. Looks good but the dialogue is dreadful at times.
Finished season 1 and now midway through season 2. So many characters I fecking hate. How much have they butchered the books?
Luckily the events of the series are only mentioned on a few pages. Some of the characters (Galadriel and Elrond mostly) still live and play a role in the actual Lord of the Rings and those characters are indeed heavily butchered (at least in the first season, I didn't watch the second).
So it's probably best not to see that as an adaption of the books but more like terrible fanfiction written by people who don't understand what this is actually about.
