Jadon Sancho - Chelsea (loan) watch | £5M opt-out fee

Until the day he signs for Chelsea permanently, average performances will be hyped up. When he signs permanently, I give it 2 to 3 months, get to sept/Oct, and it'll be posts from Chelsea fans saying they were gaslit and the media will be out for him, saying his performances have dropped (they won't have, it'll be the same but the narrative will change).

Save this post.
I mean, the literal realistic worst case scenario here is we have a decent horses for courses rotation option, which is hardly the end of the world at that price.

Did he play for them tonight? I’ve not seen much of him since he left us.

He was decent in the first half. The whole team collapsed in the second half. I’d say on balance this season he’s been more good than average.

I’ve not seen loads of him at Chelsea, but from what I’ve seen it just seems like it’s more of the same from him except he’s playing in a better side.

He is having a very identical season to what he had with United in his debut season, average one. For 25m he is doing his job fine. But won't be a surprise in long run Chelsea look to upgrade him in couple of seasons

He's mediocre. Only reason there's anything positive said about him is because mediocre is a vast improvement on his disgraceful showing at United

Has he performed more than the £25m obligation? Shows it in periods but also invisible for stretches

Of course he is. It's just that his meh performances are being wildly exaggerated by Chelsea fans desperate to see something that isn't there. They should spot the red flags by a) these performances are the best you're going to get and b) the delight of every single United fan to have him as far away from the club as possible.

Being invisible is less him and more the team collectively losing their cool in games. But yes I’d say he’s outperformed that price tag. I don’t think he’s the answer long term answer though.

I’d say more of the opposite is happening. His good performances are being wildly downplayed by some United fans. I’ve literally seen people come in here and say ‘shit again  ’ after he played a very good game.

I doubt that.

25m for dross like him on huge wages is still a shite deal. There's a reason we were literally desperate to bin him.
Agree , his wages are still close to 200k or more for Chelsea. So he needs to do more than whatever he is doing

But that's the thing, has he been that amazing is the question. Take away the price tag, I do not see any different to what he used to do with us. In fact his second season he was better than whatever he is doing with you guys. Not bad but nothing amazing. I won't even say he has been that good. 6/10 if being generous

It's only a good deal for us to get shot of him. It'll all turn to shit at Chelsea. I would shocked if he's a first team regular in 18 months.

He needed to go from here. For me 25m is a bonus.

I agree, long term Chelsea would look to upgrade unless he suddenly becomes a world beater, which I doubt

The best you'll get is 7/10 with a feck tonne of 5's, 4's etc.

It's always the same nonsense when we sell to a rival. The media made out Welbeck was atrocious when he was here. Suddenly he moves to Arsenal, does nothing whatsoever, and he's the new Henry. Same thing all over again here, and it'll have a similar outcome.

Amazing? No, far from it. No one is making that claim I don’t think, apart from when the discussion is about a specific game (Tottenham away). I didn’t watch much of him at United apart from the odd game here and there, so I’ll take your word for it. My honest view of his season so far is that he’s been more good than bad. File him under satisfactory but nothing spectacular. But just saying that will be called ‘wildly exaggerating’ his performances or something.

Yeah I remember the welbeck revisionism, average for us, average for them but because he scored that one goal against us in the fa cup and media was like you let go a diamond.

Probably United fans bursting the deluded bubble of thinking mediocre performances are something they're not. You're kind of proving my point tbh.

I mean, sure. I’m happy to agree to disagree with you.

That's a fair take. Eventually you guys will be looking to upgrade

Worth a £25m punt, which doesn't get you a lot these days. I will continue to assert this as a win-win.

Sure. But here's the kicker. He's a bloke I never really gave a toss about when he was here, as it was obvious early days that he's an absolute dud. You'll see it eventually.

I did go through brief periods here-and-there of praying he would turn it around given his insane fee/wages. But yeah, he's a tosser and an average player. You'll thank me soon for the solid advice.

I would have thought it's a massive red flag when RedCafe unanimously agreed that a player is utter wank, and the club were happy to bin him to a rival.

Seems about right. He's capable of moments or games of top quality, but generally average. We had to get rid and £25m is a great deal for Chelsea.

25m in isolation, yes but when you look at the wages , I won't call it a great deal. It is a fair deal for both the parties so far. We got rid of a virus and they get a potential for 25m who till now is playing like a 25m. 2 goals and 4 assists is pretty much playing like an average 25m player.

We are covering a lot of his wages and apparently he has agreed lower wages starting next year (not sure how true that is)

Wouldn't be surprised if they sell him for more than £25m in the end.

I also wouldn't call it a remotely great deal given his very public appalling attitude.

I guess Chelsea fans have had to watch the likes of Salah and KdB going onto become PL greats and think what could have been. Maybe they feel the transfer gods owe them one, and Sancho nabbed from United for a mere 25m will go onto PL greatness, while we all cry and think what could have been. Thing is, it's mere pipe dream. A crack pipe.

Don't actually watch Chelsea games but seems like Sancho's been good enough for them. Same United fans on here trying to push the narrative of him being shite because they don't like him but don't think there's need for that. 30M euros is good money for someone we wanted out, and not too much for Chelsea as they got decent option on left wing. He's not spectacular but they're not paying huge money for him so that's fine. Was always going to be better in Maresca's system than in ten Hag's, that was obvious.

Unlike this season and his Chelsea career so far, felt like his 6 months at Dortmund were being overrated. But then again he played well in CL semi, kind of game that's much more followed than random Bundesliga game.

He was at 350k here, as low as it will be I do not see him taking anything less than 250k which is also a huge number.

If he has a ordinary spell he will go for 20 odd million if Chelsea ever sell him. Overall a fair transfer, nothing great. Again he could turn it around and be a world beater and in that case it becomes a great deal for Chelsea.

We will see. I didn’t want him at Chelsea before we got him and I don’t think he’s done enough for me to be considered the long term answer. You might be right about his quality, I won’t shy away from coming back here to tell you you were right at later date, if I feel that way, but what I’ll always push back on is when I see how his decent games be described as shit and invisible. That’s where I’m coming from in this.
