I am Ten Hag out but am not a culttist. I want him out not because I have an irrational hatred for him but because the club comes first. I believe managers should be supported but only if they perform. After all they are employees and are dispensable, just like players. I have watched the games and listened to his interviews afterwards, I know there were injuries and other issues but I have come to the conclusion that he is clueless and will not take the club anywhere especially in terms of league position. Others have a contrary opinion and I respect it. As for the opinion polls, I hope that the powers-that-be will make the sack or retain decision solely based on performance data just like other business organizations do.

It is beneficial to appreciate opposing views without getting too emotional about it. If he is retained my world will not end and I will be perfectly ok with it. It is also perfectly alright to ignore me if you think I am a Ten Hag out culttist. Finally,in my humble view most of the arguments presented by the 'Ten Hag in' crowd are just an attempt to justify failure (where all the damning negative data is downplayed) and perpetuate the culture of mediocrity that has persisted since Fergie left. Once they are presented with hard cold data they resort to histrionics instead of offering persuasive counterarguments.
There are good arguments on both sides, but the ‘Ten Hag out’ cultists ignore all arguments in favour. None of the ‘Ten Hag in’ posters do this, no one ignores the bad stuff.

The fans have a more balanced view and that is why there is overwhelming support for not sacking Ten Hag right now.

The hard cold data: two seasons two trophies.

If you are in favour of replacing Ten Hag based on league performance, I understand. How big do you think his role is in this failed season? How big a part do other factors play?

Both sides are pretty great at "everyone on the other side is a cultitst", though.

This is starting to drag on a bit isn’t it. I’m all for taking your time but any longer and it feels like it will impact our transfer business. Unless we already consider ourselves moved to the model where the manager target is irrelevant and it wouldn’t matter so much. Time will tell.

You think the new owners just watched the club have their worst domestic and european campaigns in 4 decades and haven't for one second questioned whether or not they should replace the manager who presided over that?
No. It's not what I meant, I'm sure they have. I think you misunderstood, I'm talking from their perspective and what they want to portray.

The maybe it’s done and he’s never been in danger.

I personally believe it was done when it was first reported a review was happening. I think the reports of another review is journos back peddling. I don't believe INEOS can be that decisive for every other position but not this one. Im in no doubt he would of had to sell his case to stay too by the way.

Two cups in two seasons is all the hard cold data you can muster?Ok.....here is more hard cold data for this season:
-shots conceded 667-only Sheffied were worse.
-conceded three or more goals in 15 games while scoring a meagre 57 goals and a negative GD( -1).
-finished bottom of a CL group that had Galatasaray and Copenhagen winning just one game and conceding 15(a record for epl teams) and eliminated from Europe before Christmas.
-total losses in all competions-19(in all MU history, more losses have only happened 9 times).
-beaten at Old Trafford 6 times( for context,in the first five premier league seasons combined MU lost six times at home).

The above is just casual research and I can finetune it if I delved deeper. I now await the usual cringeworthy justifications(injuries and dishonest medical team, structure, new way of playing, didn't understand new currency...and on and on). Of course no mention of the suicidal donut midfield formation and brain-dead subs in the dying minutes of games leading to loss of points.

With less stubborness and a pragmatic midfield formation that takes into account the injuries, the losses wouldn't have been so many. Therefore to answer your question, the poor season is 70% attributable to him. Even with the new structure who is to say his stubborness and poor in-game management will be better next season? And no one ignores the cup,we were all happy about it because we support the club, not the manager (how is that for balance?). However some of us refuse to be hoodwinked by just one game.

Not to mention all these bad results still flatter us considering our performances. Meaning it could have easily been way, way worse. It's really amazing how many people are willing to forget all of it just because of a cup win.

How can this in anyway be compared with what happened in Steve Coopers case? this is Man Utd the biggest club in the country, if the managers future is being discussed heavilly in the media they they absolutely have to release a statement clarifying what is and isnt happening.
100% agree

If media spreads rumors about any other organization or celebrity and if rumors are not true, it is always expected that they will deny it in a public statement. Silence is a clear acknowledgement that this smoke is not without fire

If ETH was staying they would have come out with a statement already. The fact that it's lingering on this long means they're not convinced he's the one they want going into next season. Maybe they're still vetting replacements. Maybe they end up keeping him because the available replacements are not who they want at this point in time. Either way, it doesn't look good for ETH going forward.
Yeah they could well end up keeping him due to the available replacements not fitting what they want

That FA Cup is doing the heaviest heavy lifting of all times.
This is so typically Louis. Yesh, I sink he needs more time. I needed more time plus I also won the FA cup. Something that had not happened for swenty years. Probably the only narcissist I have a weak spot for.

I listened to a podcast where Mark Ogden said that the club was going to wait until July 1 to make the sack/keep decision as that’s when the 25%wages cut will happen meaning they will save 2m+ by waiting until then to sack him.

I made this comment before, but this feels like Glazers 2.0…. INEOS, hell fecking Sir Jim look like complete idiots here. How they can sit there and do nothing after our worst PL finish ever is astounding. Sack him, don’t sack him, but do something. We need to get in the fecking transfer market.

what a shitshow.

urgh I really hope that’s not true but I suppose it wouldn’t be a shock

horrible if they’re making ten hag stay in the dark until then

more understandable if they tell ten hag they’re doing that, get another manager lined up and then swiftly make the change on July 1

This seems bullshit. If he gets his year wages when/if he’s sacked it is the wages he would get next year and those wages are 25 procent less because that is in his contract if he doesn’t qualify for the CL, if you sack him now or in July.

And yet, 80% still support him. Why is that?

We hate the Glazers, don’t trust INEOS yet, and recognize how big an accomplishment the FA cup win was with enigmatic wins against Pool and Cheaty.

They also see how he is developing youth. He told Mainoo last year after the League Cup that his time would come.

He has a plan to make us a winning machine: the cup wins despite a compromised squad are evidence of that.

For some reason I also have a soft spot for him even when he talks absolute nonsense like United not winning the FA cup in 20 years. The other interesting thing is that he would never make that point if it was Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern, he would never use a domestic cup to justify keeping a manager.

Honestly for anyone who wants to make a case for ETH, it's very simple stop the BS and just make the point that you believe in his abilities, that he had a down year but can and will do much better.

Managers always say other managers need more time because they have all been in the same situation once or will be. I never heard another manager say a club should sack a manager.

Van Gaal just thinking: How can I make this about me.

I dunno. Strange that he reported it. So bizarre that it might actually be true.

‘Other than winning the FA Cup, it’s really been a horrible 12 months as a Man United fan. Watching INEOS bollocks this up has been the true capper.

I am certain ETH will go so I'm not too bothered about no decision yet.
This all day. If they were looking towards keeping him it would smell completely different. Corporate management written all over it. Keep options open till you ready to move.

Similar numbers would have said to keep LVG immediately after he won the FA cup

And wanted to give Ole a full time contract after PSG win.

And would have backed Ole after we beat Spurs in his last decent game as United manager.

And would have been supportive of every failed transfer from Di Maria to Sanchez and AWB to Antony.

Why is that?

Well, that is the plan, isn't it? Having a transfer strategy not dependent on the manager.

This. Every day with "silent treatment" from the club is ETH getting closer to the sack. It's just a matter of arrangements in the backoffice. Like I said, I'm not too bothered about that dragging on a bit.
