United had top managers since Ferguson retired and none of them were truly successful.
INEOS concluded that it is the overall set up that doesn't allow the managers to be successful. Now coming in with that premise, would they suddenly decide to change the manager before allowing him to work under what they consider to be a proper organisation. Seems illogical.

I see no reason for them to rush, as long as we're not losing out on potential candidates. The fact nothing has been announced suggests things are still up in the air imo.
The issues are:

that if ETH is going to stay, the delay undermines his authority,
that if we are appointing a new manager they have less time to get working,
we are potentially losing players out of the club
we are potentially unable to sign new players who want to know who will be coaching them
it makes INEOS look indecisive and erodes confidence in the new structure.... how are they going to make decisions quickly if they cannot make this one, historically transfers have been a mess due to the delays involved in getting authorisation from 10 people before making a bid, we want that to change

Yes. That's exactly why it's right to criticize INEOS by now. We are now in the most crucial time of the year for the management team and it doesn't even properly exist. During the season the manager is in focus because he needs to get the squad he has to perform twice a week. But now is the time where the squad (and supporting staff like the manager) has to be built, signed, sold, sacked. And those whose job it is to do all this are still under contract elsewhere. They might get lucky late in the transfer window, but so far to me it looks like INEOS messed up this summer.
I think the opposite.

I hope INEOS are in it for the long haul and understand it takes time to build a good management team as well as a good football team. Sir Jim seems to know who he wants at the top level and is going after them. Fans who think our transition to a top side are going to be sorted in one season, including assembling the top management team, are deluding themselves.

Despite all the press claims and assaults on the club and it's pressure for 'something to be said; by the club, and it's publication of hearsay, it's selling the idea of there being 'deep throat' type claims emanating from within the bowels of OT, Sir Jim and his team are not being 'steam-rolled' by the press.

IMO that bodes well for our future.

Has the transfer window even opened yet? Are players flying off the shelves?

If the decision is to stick with ETH, they'll give him a new contract and announce it.
If the decision is to move on, they'll be lining up all the necessary steps to announce the new manager at the same time as ETH departure.

We live in a crazy, second-by-second world but in reality a week isn't goign to make any difference, and gives all the parties plenty of time to ensure good decisions are made.

Too much hysteria on here and on TalkSPORT about Ineos indecisiveness, just because it’s not the usual knee jerk reaction in the past to everything doesn’t mean that a lot isn’t happening behind the scenes.

I actually like it that they do not respond to the media hysteria - if you start out like that then you will always have to continue.

Reality is - nobody actually knows what’s going on and there are very few leaks these days with regards to the SJR inner circle.

Therefore people just make up shite for click bait as even though we’ve been poor for a decade we are still the biggest story in town.

Let’s wait and see what the Ineos team have to say when they’ve actually got some news.

The proper organisation already decided they dont want to work with ETH. And he doesnt want to cede control either.

Mourinho and Van Gaal were top managers at the time - it would be silly to suggest otherwise.
No one who knows anything about football would think either Mourinho or LVG were top managers from 2015 onwards. Even most people at the time recognised we were taking top names who had past their zeniths.

This is all running on a bit long isnt it? I mean come the hell on. How can we be into the second week of June practically and not even come to an conclusion about if ETH is here next year? how does anybody expect any manager to work with this type of idiocy? We cant build a cohesive squad with chemistry that plays together when we cant even sort out the manager...
get it together INEOS or should I say IDIOTS.

LVG was past his prime but he did lead NL to a third place in the 2014 WC with many unproven players from de Dutch league most of you guys had never heard of and never heard from again because many were downright mediocre. Credit where credit is due, I remember watching English telly after the Spain match and Henry and others all proclaimed United fans must be overjoyed Louis would be your coach after the WC.

We were up 3-0 after 70 minutes. Coventry should have won?!?

No, we should not have shat ourselves.
Liverpool is considered a good win for us, but we were losing that with what, 10? minutes to go and then again in extra time. Game is over 90 minutes, not 70.

You’re all fecking mental same posters are having the same discussions for weeks feck knows how you all have the time an energy

I remember pre digital , you just waited for stuff to happen. Maybe when you met in the pub to watch a match you’d have a bit of a moan but the rest of your life was Kind of just letting stuff happen.

This relentless drive for instant information and decisions is getting worse and worse. Media really do wag the supporter tail an awful lot. Not sure people are even aware how easy it is for them to be riled up. Remember watching a documentary talk about how bad/negative news just thrives online , causing a feeding frenzy with people just absorbed in anger and loving it.

I find it unusual that this is taking a king time but it doesn’t tell us anything with clarity. Doesn’t tell us INEOs are inept or good yet some people have decided it’s a bad look cause “that club did that”. Chelsea acting fast to replace a manager supposedly confirming this

I’m impressed at how there’s zero leaks, if nothing else SJR has a closed circle of trust on the manager position. Be good to think we may also see some right field signings aswell which will help in negotiations for players.

I think the fact the majority of the football viewing audience agrees both were in decline says it might be you being the silly one.

Football audience? I hope you're not referring to social media... I look at it a different way. I define a top manager by manager who's at the top of their game, just like in any profession.

Van Gaal - Netherlands coach before he joined us and Bayern Munich (treble winner by the way), before that.
Mourinho - Chelsea before us, Real Madrid before that - no explanations needed there.

Successful managers are very hard to come by. I agree that they were not at their best years when we signed them, but that doesn't make them 'not a top manager'. The fact that both were able to win us a trophy with the shit show that is our club hierarchy shows just that. Just my opinion anyway.

The structure on the training pitch
You’d expect the structure to get him the coaches he needs to improve defense, offense and overall tactics, and a competent set pieces coach so he doesn’t need to worry about any of these things anymore, yes.

Agree, but then he's never had a club in a winning position other than PSG and that was a unique case. In any case we aren't winning anything big for five years. We need a John the Baptist coach who can get us to the right place where a Klopp or a Pep wants to take the job on. I still think that could be ETH but Poch would do a job too. Tuchel and Southgate would take us backwards. Frank and de Zerbi would be just about OK but but less than inspiring.
Why do you say Tuchel takes us backwards just out of interest, the Pochettino from Spurs really appeals but unfortunately we haven't seen that guy since 2019.
We edged the cup final, mostly thanks to huge leg up of the laughable opening goal. We didn't deserve anything against Coventry and we're a incredibly tight offside call away from being out, and we got lucky against Liverpool who should have buried us in the second half and in ET but didn't.

That's they way it goes in the cup sometimes though, luck plays a huge part and we got lucky the other teams didn't. It's why winning the domestic cups isn't some huge achievement for Us and doesn't guarantee the manager his position. The squad is comfortably one of the best 6 in the country, with a little luck with draws and some luck in games and a couple of penalty shootout wins we should be competing for the domestic cups as a minimum.

In terms of who should replace ETH if he is sacked. It should be Tuchel or Poch.
Spot on with this post

Of course we did, we gifted them that comeback and they fluked some goals, before that they were shite. Also by simply looking at stats, we were far better. They deserved feck all.
Absolutely 100% correct. This place!

Things shouldn't still be up in the air, least put something out if he's staying that shows you are fully behind him, otherwise announce his departure.

Such an evasion.

Encourage sacking him and then refuse to stick your neck out on a replacement.

The reality is there is no tangible replacement and this is why Ineos are taking their time and going off as many angles as they can. Stick or twist is fraught with risk, and Ineos will want to cover their own backs.

I don't mean to be cynical when I say that. Ineos obviously are trying to build a CFG style
portfolio and making decisions which backfire will stymy such an ambition.
It’s not an evasion if you’ve followed the other threads. Ultimately it’s the clubs decision, so it’s they, not random fans who are going to have to decide whether Ten Hag is good enough to win multiple leagues against the likes of Guardiola and Arteta. If the answer is no then there no reason to keep him during this moment of potential transition when the likes of Tuchel and others are available.

And the goal that was disallowed was correctly disallowed. I found it particularly amusing , when you factor in all the VAR decisions that went against us this season, that people took had an issue with a correct call cause it ruined somebody else’s fairytale. F**k off with that sh*t

Just think he will be 'buy me my toys now' kind of manager with no long term intention rather than the 'I'm here for the project' long term planner that we need. How can you not be short termist when you don't have the personality to stay longer than two years anywhere?

No we didn't. We've had managers who had once been top managers but they certainly weren't by the time they got here.

ETH was the first attempt to actually get the right profile of manager in. It now appears likely to have been an unsuccessful first attempt, but the fact that the previous four (two past it, two not good enough) failed is largely irrelevant.

That's not to say that the bad structure didn't make an impact, as it clearly did for all five of those managers. But it's still possible to judge and critique the job the manager did while taking the poor structure into account. Which is exactly what INEOS should be doing.

I admit he's short termist and can live with that, however if he can get us back in Champions League spots then could make us more attractive to an Alonso/Nagelsmann in 2/3 seasons.

It's absolutely unbelievable, same bollocks being "discussed" every day. We even have a mod in here spouting bollocks now, and I'm sick of seeing posters shitting on our fa cup success, trying to use it to further their agenda. Pathetic stuff.

The best part of ETH going is not having to see these posts anymore. Don't you get tired Sarni mate? You've been using this sthick daily for around a year now.
