Bruno Fernandes Out?

A response to the briefing yesterday? He's not untouchable, but the last of the older guard that I would like to see sold.

He's one of a few actual top players we have. But I think it's time (long overdue in fact) to rebuild and if we can get a good fee for him then it makes sense for both sides for him to move on.

Like everyone in the club -- should be available for the right price. He's a chance creation freak and is always available to play matches but moving Fernandes on and replacing him with a different profile could open up different doors for how we stylistically set up.

Those quotes feel pretty light, though.

I don't think he will be sold this summer, but he could well be the following year. At that point he will have one year left on his contract with an option for one more year. Will be approaching his 31st Birthday too. Would be a good opportunity to receive a big fee.

Nobody’s untouchable, but we shouldn’t sell until we have a proven chance creator to take his place, given his importance to Moments FC. There’d be a lot fewer moments without him. We haven’t seen enough of Mount this season to know if he could be that player.

Not to keen on Bruno the person but he’s far too good a footballer to let go.

He’s easily Utd’s best player though don't think he’s suited to captaincy.

I think that whilst we have indicated we would consider offers for all players other than a select few of our brightest youngsters, Bruno is definitely in the tier where it would take a massive offer for us to actually accept.

i dont think he'll be sold. As much as there is talk of a squad revamp, that revamp will realistically take mutiple transfer windows not just this summer. Finding a player in his position is not easy.

He can be annoying on the pitch sometimes, but off the pitch and in interviews Bruno always comes across incredibly well.

Him and Dalot are probably the only two players of the Ole era or before then that i'd be a bit sad to see go, but on the other hand, he might want a new challenge after the Euros and he'd certainly be sold for a big fee. Also, depends if the new manager wants to play a system that plays to Bruno's very obvious strengths as a player.

A lot of variables and uncertainty around the players and the club at the moment which should be quite natural after two truly abysmal seasons in three years.

Him leaving before Rashford, McTominay, Maguire, Shaw etc would be a disaster

Seems like he's saying that as long as both sides are happy then he'd stay which is fair, doubt anything is happening here.

He better not be angling for a new contract. And we better not give in either.

He's here until June 2026 and we have an option for a further year.

This should be his last contract here.

A Bruno-less United under Ten Hag is a frightening prospect, much like under Solskjaer. We'd have been bottom half of the table without him in some of these last few years.
People said that about Spurs without Kane too tbf. And us when we sold Ruud in 2006. Football just isn't that simple.

We've squandered the peak of a brilliant player's career, and he'll soon be 30. At best he has a couple more seasons of peak productivity. If we were to get a good offer in for him we should seriously consider it.

Mount in his proper position could give us an approximation of what Bruno gives us, I think.

I'm open to him leaving tbh. Would probably rather he does one more season here, though. I wouldn't have even wanted that a number of weeks back, but his form has picked up recently.

I appreciate Bruno for his mentality, not due to sulking but the propensity to still try and effect games despite playing during the clubs worst times of recent history. However, if a manager prides themselves on ball retention and possession it's certainly an area that could be explored. Not to mention it could balance the midfield sufficiently in something like a three man midfield with Mainoo and a six behind him. Having someone alongside Mainoo who's disciplined to hold the structure of the team but contribute to the attack would be massive in leading the team forward.

Largely it depends on how INEOS leadership envision success and what manager they identify for those intentions. As others have stated, there are players that should be far higher up in that immediate disposal territory.

Mount isn't fit to lace his boots. He's not putting up numbers like Bruno does each year. The only way Mount works is in a better coordinated system, he effectively flourished at Chelsea in playing that Dele Alli/VDB type role where they are basically a striker as they're so advanced.

Lets be honest he's wasted his prime years at United. After four years we've still not surrounded him with a great team.

He's given absolutely everything for this club and deserves to decide his own future.

Sounds like him wanting a new contract. He’s got a long time elect now his contract so why would the club now be convincing him to stay with a new one. Much bigger concerns at the moment.
If he forces the issue then sell him.

Yep people reading too much into this. It seems like both sides are happy with his situation so not much to do there but for other players that might not be true.

I think Eriksen for instance will want to leave even if the club wants him to stay.

Comfortably our best player.. also one who doesnt down tools every few months waiting for a managerial change..

Really hope he stays and we sort things out with the squad.. if we are going to be shit for the next few years, he might as well leave.

That is not it at all. The media was full of stories yesterday about the entire squad being up for sale with the exception of Mainoo, Garnacho and Rasmus so he has been asked about that. His answer is perfect, he isn't thinking about it right now and he is happy so long as the club is happy, not sure what else he could have said.

I wouldn't blame him. Both him and Rashford are the only ones who deserve so much more from the club than what they have been given.

I obviously don't know him in person, but too many people have said he is a good guy to doubt it. He can be annoying on the pitch, and I'd probably definitely hate him if he was at Liverpool, but he is also 100% effort always. He is cool.

That being said, Bruno the footballer is another matter. I have already said what I think about that. He is great, but I don't think a team that controls games can be built with him in the middle. He is the person I want to see leave after Ten Hag and Rashford, but unlike those I will actually feel bad to see him go. And perhaps he deserves a last shot at something elsewhere. He will be long retired before we are that.

I actually think Bruno is underrated, and would be capable of playing in a side with a different style of football. He has immense ability, mentality, and robustness. Perhaps he shouldn’t be the main man, but I think it’s difficult to find a player of his calibre, particularly one that is fit and available as often as he is. Maybe he does need to be told to improve his on-pitch behaviour, though. I think that’s more of a general issue at United, though.

Feels like he wants to feel more loved tbh.

I’d keep him for a couple more years but not for insane money. I can see him declining once he hits 31/32 and his endurance falls. I don’t think he’s a “top” player but a very good that’s more suited to counter attack football. So I wouldn’t keep him “at any cost” but rather would prefer to keep him for a while at a suitable one.

Bruno should be the last to leave.

Players in the senior team that in my opinion should not have offers listened to:
Onana, Dalot, Bruno, Mainoo, Hojlund, Garnacho.

Bruno is world class and in a possession based team I think he would still thrive. If he was the tip of the diamond, just behind a striker we'd do well.

The rest can be moved on clearly. The only factor with Bruno is age, but as a midfielder I don't see it as a big problem. Unless that is, there a clear replacement in mind.

I wouldn't blame him. Both him and Rashford are the only ones who deserve so much more from the club than what they have been given.

Rashford who's seen off 5 (soon to be 6) different united managers?

He gets precisely what he's earned.

No wonder this club is going anywhere. Give it 3-4 years when half the fan base wants Maino or Garnacho to be sold, always looking for a new toy entertainment.

We should sell him. He will be 30 in September. And if we want to play possession football with the new manager he has to go.
How much will it cost to replace his goals and assists, also his experience, unless we want to be Chelsea, full of kids who haven't a clue what they are doing at times.
