He's been running on empty a few years now.Awful news. Such an amazing lyricist.
I think Bon Jovi was the last strawHe was sick of the wokeratti cancelling his song. Couldn’t face another one.
RIP
Yup. This one doesn’t sting too much. Although it is obviously sad. You do wonder what his quality of like has been like these last few years.Shane and Sinead in the same year. I really didn't think he'd outlast her.
Why did the woke target that song?He was sick of the wokeratti cancelling his song. Couldn’t face another one.
RIP
Is it the song that says cheap lousy faggot? Fairly tale of New York. I’d say that song has been the main income keeping him going ever since. He wasn’t really able to tour much. Why did the woke target that song?
Genuine question as I can’t understand a single word he says on it, so not sure why it’s controversial
Ah you know how it goes. Hopefully those bashing him someday decide to take the time to listen to songs he wrote that aren't Fairytale of New York. There is a wealth to be gotten from his lyrics. Until then I guess they'll be mildly entertained every Christmas by being outraged. He was sick of the wokeratti cancelling his song. Couldn’t face another one.
RIP
Darn Americans censoring everyone else's words. Is it the song that says cheap lousy faggot? Fairly tale of New York. I’d say that song has been the main income keeping him going ever since. He wasn’t really able to tour much.
He was a lovely fella and one of the best Irish lyric writers ever. RIP
As great a songwriter as anyone I can think of. There's been very few bands I've fallen in love with as rapidly as I did with The Pogues the first time I listened to "Rum Sodomy and the Lash". No one else could could evoke time, place, character and narrative in rock lyrics the way he did. Vale Shane.
Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash is a great album. The Pogues did a great cover of 'The Band Played Waltzing Matilda' on that. RIP Shane.Darn Americans censoring everyone else's words.
He really captured a lot of people with his music. RIP
Fantastic song.Yep, he's in the top category. Rainy Night In Soho is a heartbreaker.
Lyrics are outstanding, as most of his are to be fairFantastic song.
That annoys me so much. If they are going to feck up his song then don't play it.He was sick of the wokeratti cancelling his song. Couldn’t face another one.

Christy Dignam too. Brutal year for Irish musicHe was a legend. Loved his music. He’s a one-off for sure, like no one else should ever try to get away with what he did to his body or how he sang. He was an original. On one hand it’s surprising that he lasted this long, and on the other, it sucks he died only aged 65. I watched the Haunted video he did with Sinead and it caused me to well up. Lost both of them in the same fecking year. Sinead when she was bright eyed and worry free was an angel. feck.
I’ve never even heard of him or his bands but I will take this as a recommendation to check them out, thanks.Christy Dignam too. Brutal year for Irish music

A great album. I still have the vinyl I bought when it came out in 1985. So many great songs on it.As great a songwriter as anyone I can think of. His funeral is incredible. What a send off.
RIP legend. Fairytale of New York might be the best Christmas song ever.
