Maguire | he stays!

Setting aside the fact that most of us want him to leave for the sake of developing the team, this would unironically be a sensible move for Maguire, probably the best he could plausibly ask for (maybe with the exception of Roma, and getting to live in Rome in a slower league and European football).

Particularly if they also get McT, Alvarez, and a suitable quick/strong backup for Antonio, it's a slightly downscaled peak-Oleball set-up: deep defence, aggressive midfield with runners, then pace at the top and 1-2 skilful link players fulfilling an equivalent function to Bruno. He gets to work under a manager fully committed to him, play in Europe, probably become captain, live in London with a salary to afford its comforts, and at least temporarily retain his place in the England starting 11.

I don't think it matters if we accept or not, he thinks West Ham are below him so he'll reject the move

Probably the most we will get for him. The issue is whether Harry wants to go and if he will still be on 200k. If West ham can't give him close to 200k he will remain and you really can't blame him.

Take it and run.

But just it out there. What if Maguire himself rejects the move, thinks the clubs are not prestigious enough and refuses any compromise on wages and believes he wants to fight for his plans

Does he then deserve the stick he is getting from the fans?
The worst thing we can do in this case is to send him to train with the reserves.

Let's hope he really wants to play regularly and the wages offer from WH is not too bad. But surely we could offer him some money to leave as well.

we won’t be able to replace his quality for that amount
Unless we suddenly decide to sit deep and counter again we won't need him.

Season 1 - 8/10
Season 2 - 8/10
Season 3 (first half) - 1/10
Season 3 (second half) - 5/10
Season 4 - 6/10

We'll have made a £50m loss on him for those 4 seasons. Not good. Fairly bad considering the initial outlay. But not the disaster some make it out to be.

I find this bid derisory and insulting for an England international and former manchester united captain. £40m should do it.

£30m is a very decent offer. We'll accept but it's up to Maguire to move. If he stays, he's an even bigger twat than I already thought. Stripped of the Captaincy with Shaw even preferred over him at CB. Just leave Harry.

Wind your neck in.

He's never been anything other than respectful to the club. And now you're inventing fantasies to hate him in.

Paqueta is on 150k a week so they could do something in that ballpark for Maguire. Most likely they are trying to pull a fast one on us and the player despite getting 100m plus for Declan Rice.

He’s probably worth more than that but given his form over the last year or so, we can’t really refuse it. With his confidence back he’ll make a very good CB for a lot of clubs.

He gets booed (unfairly) even in pre season games, I think he knows it’s time to leave.

He has to do the math, no? Right now he can still make 20m£ with us but then what's he getting as a free agent after 2 years of wilderness with us at the age of 32? Not much I'd imagine.

Whereas if he gets say 4 yr contract at West Ham at 150k/week, that's 30m£.

This is encouraging news. If the Hammers will take them both they might both be happier to go there. They can help each other settle in. I could see them both being very good signings for West Ham.

Please, Gods of Football, let it happen.

Where have you gotten these ratings from? He has never been anywhere near 8/10.

Then she sucks on my balls
How does this work offer 30 for Maguire and then a joint bid of just over 50 thus valuing mctominay around 20 million after it was reported we turned down an offer before much higher for him just shows you how these Twitter itks just make shit up for clicks that's the worst reporting you can think of.

We wont actually get any money from it. 28m will be written off for amortization. 10m off wage bill though, i guess theres that.
Thats not how it works. We will get the money for it.

Choice has to do with manager's tactics and preferences. I find him an easily more established CB than Lindelof or Shaw.
Good for you. That’s not getting us £40m for him

I think the club will try and squeeze a bit more out of West Ham.

Is McTominay injured, by the way? Not played in pre-season at all, has he?

£50m is a steal for me. They would be charging us triple that for the exact same players if it were the other way round.

Great deal for all parties. He will do well in a 5 with West ham and should recover his career. We get a decent fee and get his wages off the books

yeah i think 30 does it. Think the way west ham play they'll get the better deal from this but makes no sense for us to keep him as our 5th/6th CB. If maguire turns this down he is beyond deluded and hopefully southgate has made it clear he needs to play or get benched.

Well they can't be seen to write anything remotely positive about the club can they?

We absolutely can blame him because that would be a decision based on a complete lack of awareness of his level and market worth. He’d be staying out of spite. He can get a good pay day from West Ham and he’s be set for life. He won’t get United money elsewhere and at least with West Ham he can be club captain and play every week.

I’d say a flat £60m with add-ons to get up to £65/70m is fair for the two of them.

He played pretty well until we changed our style. Many times he was the best player on the pitch and gave many of those archetypal “captain’s performances”.

Many disagree and only see his deficiencies (which we all know he has). He was overpriced, all said and done, but we did get some decent service from him and at £30m we are cutting our losses to an acceptable level, imo.
