I'd ship him for £30M without a second thought. £20M is too low, though.

£30m is fair in my opinion.. still an England international and for a team like West Ham and the way they play I think he’d do well.

Get them to raise it to 25 and send him off. Another 10 million a year in saved wages. 55 million total.

I don't think he'll go, just doesn't seem there's enough desire from the club and especially him to move this summer.

It’s like watching Homes in the Sun
“What’s your budget?”
“200k”
After some looking they’ve found the holiday home of their dreams
“So how much do you want to pay for the home of your dreams? It’s on for 190k”
“110k on the basis that we want to replace the kitchen, bathroom, flooring, tiling and oh can they leave the furniture?”

Settle at £25M and drive him all the way to West Ham. Best for Maguire, best for us.

To be fair I don't think that Maguire is their dream player. It's more a case of someone buying a ruined house with the ambition of fixing it.

Him staying could escalate things. Fellaini wasn't even remotely controversial, and he got his share of booing.

This just doesn't work for both sides, with one choking another and vice versa, but if he wants to stay, then I guess he'll stay.

Quite surprised by the general consensus in this thread. When in other threads talking about what we could raise from player sales I mentioned Maguire £30m munimum maybe up to £40m and got absolutely slaughtered with him being over 30, having been so poor etc etc.

Sating that, with no take over in sight, £20m is too little, but I would take somewhere between £25-30m. It seems to be we arent just workig on deals individually, we do also need to raise funds to do further deals and Maguire is one of the few players who hold reasonable value. What is surprising is talk of a loan to buy deal on Henderson, I thought £20m there was a banker, we shouldnt be agreeing to that, he has been there a season already, should be telling them put up or shut up we sell him to someone else. Selling 3/4 £20-25m players buys a couple fo players like an Arambat and a younger CB,,,, hearing plaeyers with the talent of Lukeba available for similar fees, I think we shouldnt be holding out for top dollar on some of these sales. I know we have always sold too cheap, but we are at a point quick fire sales may well be needed

They just earned 100m for rice who had one year left. Based on that market value, Maguire is min 30m which I'd accept and save 10m on his wages.

how’s 20m for Maguire insulting? 5th choice CB(maybe even 6th behind 40 years old Evans), on ridiculous wages, freshly stripped off captaincy, club wants to get rid and he’ll stink up the place for the rest of the contract otherwise..

just because we were idiots to buy him at ridiculous value doesn’t mean it represents his market value..

He'd be decent for a club that does not press high up the pitch and defends deep so it does not expose his lack of speed. He just didn't fit into United and the way we play. I'm not saying he is class as I've personally never liked him, but for West Ham, I'd say that represents at least 30m of value.

No team that defends deep will break their wage structure to incorporate 30 years old CB on 200k per week.

In order for that to happen(we receive a valuation of 30-40m) Maguire has to accept a serious pay cut (probably around half of his current wage), and I can’t see that happening.

we should take a hit and move on from him, otherwise you have someone on 200k doing cameo performances in which everyone on the pitch and in the stands will be shitting their pants when they see him on.

Especially when we finally brought a ball playing keeper and the plan is most likely to build from the back.

Tell that to Celski. They rejected 60-70 mil 2 years ago for Odoi. Now he is going for 5 mil.
Well no, that was 4 years ago and that was never the offer, that was a very high price quoted by Chelsea to Bayern as a way of saying feck off. Bayern offered peanuts to Chelsea but offered a large contract to CHO, which he then leveraged into a large contract of ~150k per week from Chelsea. The worst part is just as he looked like he was starting to make good on that level of remuneration he tore his Achilles and was never the same player ever again.

Maguire is still a great CB for the right setup, WH fits that bill. Problem is he is getting old, unwanted and on high wages. Only thing in our favour us he’d like to keep his England spot, which is not gonna happen with another year as a 4th pick.
i see a january sale coming, about 15mill.
TL;DR: Sell now.

20 MILLION? Feck off. If it was us trying to buy one of their players we'd be starting at 70million

He also didn't really shine through his time with Ole. We overpaid absurdly for him, he was a 50 million player after a good season for Leicester. By now, his star has fallen quite a bit and he is on big wages. Nobody knows, if its just confidence or something deeper. It hurts, looking at the money burned but the mistake happend those years ago. I'd take 25 and have that chapter done. Good for everybody involved.

Between the cost and risk of replacing him I can fully understand the club wanting serious money for him.

He is probably the best 4th choice CB in most of Europe, and with all the games we’re playing having him and Lindelof (that know eachother well) in the less serious games so Varane and Licha can rest seems like a pretty good deal.

He would need replacing for sure. I think Shaw did amazing at centre back last season and have no problems with him deputising for Martinez here and there. But the combination of Shaw-Martinez wouldn't work and Varane is the centre back most likely to miss matches, Lindelof's had his fair share of injury problems (mostly back issues I think), while Maguire is always available.

30 plus add-ons I'd be happy with.

Then again I'd take a freddo bar just so I never have to endure massive nerves when he comes on 10 mins to go.

100% the Glazers blocking this transfer as they'll refuse to take that big of a loss, while also refusing to accept responsibility for arguably the most asinine incoming transfer in club history.

You've gotta wonder if his price will ever be higher than it currently is. He's currently 30 but and he probably won't feature much this upcoming season. However he could go on to have a good euros (as he seems decent for England) which could bump up his price.

Hopefully the club are genuinely considering these bids. I think we have to respectfully cut our losses.

Somewhat contradictory statements there.

Beg to differ. He was mostly excellent through his first two seasons with us and it was almost unanimously felt on the Caf that his injury before the Europa League final was the reason we did not win. It was during his 3rd year when he struggled with injury and his confidence began to falter that he started to be exposed and it was under Ragnick that he had a poor run of games and the memes really started to flow.

He was fine when called upon last year and has looked good so far in pre season, not to mention his continuing good form at International level. He would instantly be West Hams best defender by some margin should they sign him and the same applies to a whole host of clubs including Tottenham and Villa. His asking price at 40M is clearly a starting point for negotiations but he is worth 30M to 35M easily and we would be mugs to sell him for less, particularly when we would then have to turn around and replace him.

I think we can get 30 at least for him. We always have to negotiate for players when signing them. Let’s make other teams up their offers.

I can't wait to see him go but anything less than $30 won't do. He'd do great at West Ham. They just need to let go of a bit of that Rice money.
Double it up and take bunny hoppin Scooby Doo too.

Fredos was once 10p there now 25p. So if they put in a 20m offer. We should get 35m for him :)

£20m is a fecking insult, to Maguire and to Utd.
It’s not £20 million though is it?

It’s £20 million + the massive salary he’s on.
If he was paid in relation to his market value then he’d be on £70k a week and clubs would be offering £40 million.
He won’t leave to take a pay cut and his wages align with a player with a market value of £80 million and that wage depresses his market price.
Though I do think £20 million was shy of the mark and that WH were trying it on and will up their offer.

I am surprised Maguire doesn't want to move and play regularly. In Manutd he is just on a downtrend and unlikely to ever be a regular bar some injuries.

Is he that &much* better than Zouma or Aguerd though as of this upcoming season? I mean he might be a little better, but he is 30, almost certainly on the start of a decline and on massive wages and then you want 30-40m on top.

It's a package of probably 50-60m.

Is he 50-60m better than West Ham starting defenders? Especially in context of our large midfield issues and a team that will need *large* changes the following year as players get too old/our of contract

And that's coming from someone who thinks he'd do well at West Ham.

The other factor is there is a good chance Moyes won't even be here the following season, he us I his last year of his contract and will need a very good season to stay on it seems, hence why Moyes is hell bent on "prem experience", players who can just slot in and don't need time to adjust. 50-60m package on a player who may not fit the next manager style at all...

Danny feckin Ings is on 125k a week and you're telling me they'll only pay Maguire 100k . They can afford to match his wage if they really want him and they can certainly afford to pay more for him..
