Not a lot of people putting Elanga in the starting line-ups. Have a strong feeling he'll start. I'd like to see Lindelof start here. He's better than Maguire and he'll be needed in the next few months.

I would be happy with the below line up

    Heaton
    Dalot - Lindelof - Maguire - Malacia
    Mct - Sabitzer
    Bruno
    Sancho - Elanga/Pellistri - Garnacho

Considering the two games after this are huge, I would try to rest as many as possible. Bruno to come off for Mainoo

This is huge. There’s only City who are a top team left in the FA Cup. We won’t win the League and it would take a bit of a collapse not to get top 4.

Would like to see a few changes. Would be good to give Butland a chance in goals. Still a strong enough side that should have enough to win.

    Butland

    Dalot - Maguire - Martinez - Malacia

    Casemiro - Sabitzer

    Antony - Sancho - Garnacho

    Weghorst

Heaton, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, McTominay, Mainoo, Pellistri, B.Fernandes, Elanga, Rashford

Manchester United 2-0 West Ham United

Moyes is bound to rotate some players - there is surely no way he risks playing a full strength XI and injuring them when they're fighting relegation in the league.

Thankfully it means it gives us way more chance to rotate some players and make sure our top ones are getting some rest ahead of playing the Scousers at weekend. Originally I just thought Bruno, Rashford and Shaw (we already know he isn't playing), but now I think we have a bit more freedom. Varane and Fred could do with a rest too at this point. If he's really bold then Martinez out too, but something tells me that EtH would be reluctant to bench both of our strong CBs and that one of them alongside Maguire would be needed.

Anyone else kind of worried that we will be hit by a combination of the tough schedule, rotation and maybe also coming down from the Cup triumph tonight? After a week of convincingly beating Leicester, knocking out Barcelona and winning a cup, I have this feeling that the good times can't keep going.

Think we will win this but Sunday has a loss written all over it. Hope ETH is sensible. If we go one or two up we get the reinforcements on and manage the game with Sunday in mind.

Maguire will definitely play. Would also like to see Sancho have another go as the number 10.

Sunday will be huge - for Liverpool even more than for us. It could be the night their faith rekindles, or it could be the night it dies. For us, if we come away from Anfield with a win, most of the football world will think we've definitely crossed the threshold into a title challenge. Lose, and the crest we're on dies again.

Considering all of that, my money is on a draw. :)

ETH will not rest most of the team. We've seen enough of his lineups at this point to know that.

The only player I'm certain won't start is Varane. He's the only starter that has his minutes managed.

If Shaw and Fred aren't 100%, he wont risk them. The rest will play. They'll get subbed if we're winning.

There's a fair case for that.

No way ETH rests Rashford or Casemiro or Bruno for me, think he will start his strongest team bar Varane and maybe Luke Shaw so it's not what I'd play but I'd imagine we will see this:

    DDG
    Dalot Maguire Martinez Malacia
    Casemiro Sabitzer
    Antony Bruno Rashford
    Weghorst

I remember when they came to OT needing a win to reach top 4 and a lot of our fanbase said it didn’t really matter.
The feckers went on to nearly win the quad from their win against us.
No going out for a draw bull shit or playing a little more conservatively because it’s Anfield. Go out there and kill them and if we don’t then fair play

    …………………..…..DDG……………………..
    AWB…Varane…Martinez..Malacia
    …………….Casimero…Sabitzer……….
    Pellistri……….Mainoo……Garnacho
    …………………..Weghorst…………………..

Would love to see this line up. But highly doubt ETH would take the risk. Our 3 creative academy products roaming around with two experienced holding midfielders behind them, and a solid back line just in case.

I think a lot will be surprised to see ETH play a strong line up. He just doesn’t play “weakened” teams. I can see the likes of Bruno and Casemiro starting.

    I’d go:

    DDG

    Dalot
    Maguire
    Martinez
    Malacia

    Casemiro
    Sabitzer

    Antony
    Sancho
    Garnacho

    Weghorst

I suspect Bruno and Fred will probably play though.

After the Barcelona game and the League cup, it feels strange that there are still games to play for trophies. I'll be happy with a boring one nil win, as long as liverpool drop points in their game.

    Couldn't agree more.

Varane, Rashford and Bruno won't start. Case should be relatively fresh after the ban.

He did once, in the first EL game at home to Real Sociedad. And we all remember how that went.

Learns from his mistakes, Erik does.

    We should as below.

First sub should be Case out, when game is secured.
Then Antony / Elanga for anyone on the wings

    De Gea

    Dalot - Maguire - Lindelof - Malacia

    Casemiro - Scot

    Sancho - Sabitzer - Garnacho

    Weghorst

We should win with such a team, really.

Why would Elanga start? Currently there are 4 players above him in the pecking order. Rashford, Antony, Sancho and Garnacho por only two places. I'd be really surprised if Elanga starts.

We owe them for the 5-0 still. I want 6.

It's nice to actually be looking forward to a game like this again.

Last few years this would have felt like a bit of a slog where we would have to play a strong starting lineup in order to have a chance of going through. The fact we're all talking about rotating and resting some of our strongest regular starters is a sign of major progress this year.

I’m really torn on this. On paper this was easily the game in the run from Leeds to Liverpool that id rest players and prioritise the least, but it is a trophy we can win… if we end up 8-10 points away from both the top and 5th (which is possible) going into the semi/final stages of the cups, but aren’t still in them, it’ll be a fairly anticlimactic end to the season from where we are now.

I’d say play a middlebrow team, with a really strong bench.

I’d go in strong for this one. We have a really good chance of winning this aswell as the trophy we’ve already won this season. Even if we didn’t beat Liverpool, we should be comfortably in the top 4 at the end of the season. Should be going all in for this and the Europa… I think ETH will. He’s said time and time again he wants to compete and win in every competition.

Have you seen our schedule? We need to manage fatigue. We have one of the biggest squads in the league; it would be mad not to make use of that. Rotation is essential or we'll burn out and put our league position in jeopardy. SAF would tell you the same.

Rashford, Shaw, Varane, and Fred to have a rest for this one. I'd love to give Bruno a rest too but both his deputies are unfortunately injured; hopefully we can take him off early and move Sancho into the middle.
Resting players in need and rotation "just for the sake of it" are two different things. Of course that some rotation is always needed but some lineups posted here (B team) are laughable. You always must have some kind of core in starting lineup.

Anyway, ETH showed so far that he doesn't like rotating much (because it kills momentum as i understood him) so i guess only Varane and maybe Rashy will be rested.

I think West Ham would be more inclined to rotate here than us, although looks like we will get some, Varane will definitely not play after playing Thursday & Sunday and looks like Shaw & Fred won't either, that's already 1/3 of the outfield players rotated. Moyes #1 goal will be to escape relegation. They have Brighton on Saturday and Europa Conference next week. Although he is a cnut that would run his 1st team out there in hopes of doing one over us even if it meant dropping into the relegation zone.

Casemiro and Bruno will play. Casemiro has played 3 games less than most of them this month. Bruno plays every game.

The players to rest for Liverpool are obvious. Varane, Shaw, Fred and Rashford.

I have also arrived at this conclusion.

only guys i don't want to see play are Casemiro, Rashford and Varane

I wouldn't be upset if we don't win here, I just want win against Liverpool on Sunday much more. Rest tons of players here please.

I’d rest Fred, Shaw, and Varane completely. In addition, I’d have Rashford on the bench, and ideally, he won’t need to come in. Otherwise, I’d go full strength.
