Just read this. So it will be Areola in between the sticks. I think Coufal was already behind Emerson for that RB spot but considering they are in relegation slog, Moyes would have liked to rotate his squad to keep them fresh for their Brighton game and then the Conference League which looks like a good chance for them to get trophy.
Antonio might bully Lindelof and Maguire if both or one of them starts.
Think Areola would’ve played anyway. Their both Czechs have been off the boil for the whole season so I agree that Coufal isn’t a big miss. And yeah, he might, but I still trust them more to handle a physical striker than one with more skills and flair.

    Bruno

    Antony
    Weghorst/Rashford
    Garnacho/Sancho

A few questions marks but I think that'll be extremely close to the side EtH picks. We have a great record at home. We need to freshen things up a bit but West Ham will probably fancy nicking it if we have a cup final hangover. Momentum is key, but there's 3-4 players that we should try and take the opportunity to rest.

Rashford can't play this match, that is my number 1 concern. Let Sancho and Garnacho have a game together.

Rashford & Varane need a rest, Shaw, Fred & Martial unavailable so expect something like:

    DDG
    Dalot Maguire Martinez Malacia
    Casemiro Sabitzer
    Antony Bruno Garnacho
    Weghorst

I'd look to bring off Casemiro for Mctominay, Martinez for Lindelof, Antony for Pellistri, Bruno for Mainoo and Weghorst off for Elanga if we are up by say 2 goals with 20 minutes to go to avoid injuries/ suspensions etc late on

    Dalot Maguire Martinez Malacia
    McTominay Sabitzer
    Sancho Bruno Garnacho
    Weghorst
If Bruno needs a rest then play Antony instead.

What? It's not a much further flight than if we were playing in London! Possibly about half a hour.

We would get overrun in midfield (remember first half against Barca?). That formation is essentially 4-2-4.

I have a feeling Casimero will play (as he has missed a few games recently, although I would still prefer him to miss this...). Antony will play, and Sancho... who else I dunno.. Garnacho is the one I would like to see. Elanga can come on as sub for Weghorst. However, Weghorst needs runners around him. I would try Sancho at No 10 (again... and see if it works a little better..) and actually have Elanga in addition to either Sancho/Garnacho/Antony.. Elanga and Garnacho run beyond defences, stretch the game.... Antony and Sancho slow a game down, and do not stretch the game, get behind opponents, make those runs. That's one of their issues in fact. Elanga, Rashford, Garnacho..they all run at, and beyond defenders. Look at Rashford's goal on Sunday. Garnacho at Fulham... both goals about power, pace, running through and beyond defences. Man Utd need this. not sure Antony or Sancho provide this.

As long as Bruno, Rashford, Shaw, Varane and Martinez are given 90 mins off, I'm happy.

Lucky for us Lindelof, Maguire, Malacia, Garnacho, and Sancho have been used sparingly in recent weeks so can fulfil those minutes.

Everyone putting Weghorst in their rotated/rested lineups but he's started the last 12 games since joining. He needs a rest as much as anyone.

As long as we win I don’t care. I don’t care how we play. I never do. Just win…

From press conference - Martial unavailable, Shaw and Fred are doubts
This is just as well as they deserve as the latter two deserve a rest, and Malacia and Sabitzer need some game time.

I think Varane and Rashford are really the ones I'd try to rest on Wednesday. Initially thought Casemiro as well but he did have a lot of down time during the suspension.

Ideally we'd have this game well in hand by the hour mark and start subbing guys out.

I guess in the back of many peoples’ minds that Martial will be back soon(tm), so Wout will get a lot of rest when he goes from starting XI to squad player. And so long as he holds out till then, it’s all fine and dandy. That’s my explanation anyway.

Yeap. And in terms of the Sunday game solely, luckily Liverpool also have a tough game on Wednesday. But they haven’t had as demanding a schedule as us so we need to rest at least those three tomorrow regardless.

It will be interesting to see the bench and whether we pick Iqbal, Pellistri, Williams and co. in the matchday squad and give a total day off for some of those you mentioned. Not that being an unused sub would be physically demanding, but giving your head a rest would do wonders. Then again if Shaw & Fred are out, the nine subs are pretty easy to name.

Shaw, Fred and hopefully Rashford to get a rest. Let's play Sancho/Garnacho or Bruno to right and Sancho on the left.

Excited to see Sabitzer play the full game with Casemiro (hopefully not McT)

Williams? Where has he been hiding? He’s one needs game time anyway

I think we can get away with resting a couple here. It's probably going to be our last chance for heavy rotation from now until the end of the season.

    De Gea
    Dalot Lindelof Martinez Malacia
    Casemiro Sabitzer
    Antony Fernandez Sancho
    Weghorst
Fred and Shaw are both doubtful so no need to risk them, I'd also rest Varane and one of Rashford/Fernandez, with Sancho coming in for either. Tough choice between Lindelof and Maguire. I prefer Lindelof, but maybe against Antonio, Maguire is a better shout to much his strength?

Guessing Fred, Shaw, the centerbacks and Rashford will be rested. Other positions like Antony/Sancho/Garnacho is always up in the air and dalot/Wan Bissaka is up in the air. Think Bruno and Casemiro will stay in, especially Casemiro as he's been rested enough lately with his suspension. I'd rest Bruno but unlikely. I'd do:

    De Gea
    Dalot Lindelof Maguire Malacia
    Casemiro Sabitzer
    Antony Sancho Garnacho
    Weghorst

I think ETH will want a strong spine so Martinez, Casemiro and Bruno will play.

I'd rest them but don't think it will happen.

Agree with you on Martinez & Bruno but Casemiro has been rested enough lately with his 3 match league suspension.

I’d play him and when hopefully in a comfortable lead, sub him off.

Problem is we don't have anyone to fill in and give Bruno a rest. He said in a quote recently he used to play for hours a day as a kid so 90 min every 3 days is no problem. haha

I think we'll give Antony a rest to start and Marcus. Let Garnacho and Sacho run at em... then we could throw on Antony as a sub when they are tired just to wind up tired defenders. Hopefully leading and can bring on Scott for Case and maybe Mainoo for Bruno.

Top bants from McTominay & Maguire. No Fred & Shaw as expected, also no sign of Rashford, Varane, Licha, Sancho or Casemiro. Perhaps they were doing their recovery indoors.

Hopefully Moyes rotates and keeps his best players fit for their relegation scrap in the league
He definitely will - there's no way he'll prioritise the cup as he'll be sacked by the time the final comes around if their form doesn't improve.

He's only been playing about 65 min. in those games.

He's had a few 90s. Pretty sure only De Gea, Bruno and Rashford will have played more minutes since he joined given others have missed full games.

I imagine that's because everyone is resting Rashford and, with Martial unavailable as usual, then that leaves Weghorst as the only #9. So if you rest him as well, then we're going into a knockout cup game, at Old Trafford, without a recognised (central) striker. And most want Bruno rested as well, so him as a false nine would be met with 'why's he rested Weghorst not Bruno?' by plenty.

If Rashford is rested - from the start - then, for me, Weghorst has to start again as we just don't have the attacking depth to go without Rashford, Martial and Weghorst in a home match. If Weghorst needs a rest soon, it'll have to be a game when Rashford (or Martial) are starting in the #9 spot.

Yeh didn't somebody say on here before that because the main players are playing every 3 days, pretty much, that they only really take back in recovery sessions and not main training like these lot in the video? Basically because they don't need to do full training sessions because they're playing so much.

This is consistent with how fitness and match rhythm works in Football Manager so I’m inclined to believe it

We just won a cup. We just tasted how good is to win something. We just saw how much it means to players and manager.
Few hours later; "feck FA cup. Play kids". Ffs
Have you seen our schedule? We need to manage fatigue. We have one of the biggest squads in the league; it would be mad not to make use of that. Rotation is essential or we'll burn out and put our league position in jeopardy. SAF would tell you the same.

Rashford, Shaw, Varane, and Fred to have a rest for this one. I'd love to give Bruno a rest too but both his deputies are unfortunately injured; hopefully we can take him off early and move Sancho into the middle.
