Barca able to register their new players:nervous:

Does that mean they can register the ones they have already bought, or the ones that they've bought and plan to buy.
Things are getting desperate for them now. I read that this lever was a last resort one... they're truly screwing up their future

Still way over the leagues wage cap so this is irrelevant to De Jongs sale

Is that what they call levers in Spain? What a bunch of Palancas

We'll get De Jong but the wage cap is based on revenue for reference.

Maybe next year when he’s cheaper and we have Champs Lge, he will transfer to United
It's going to happen this window. If he's cheaper next year, then theres no a prayer that he's going to United, especially when there would be many other clubs in for him

Register those that have already been signed so far.
This 25% was sold to socios.com. BarcaStudios includes the metaverse, tokens, nft and all that.

Surely it is not based on one time sales on TV rights though as that is not a constant revenue stream?
Revenue is revenue regardless of where it comes from. Also I believe that once a player is registered with LaLiga that’s it. So this isn’t a problem Barca will have again until the next spending spree.

Then why would it be based on a one time loss of revenue due to a right off during covid? Revenue is revenue and its assessed yearly

A: 2nd-6th
B: 3rd-6th

I think he'd be a great addition to the team but I equally think he could be a flop because I don't trust buying from the biggest clubs in Europe.
So you think he could be a success or a failure. Interesting.

Do you really believe that with ten Hag we could still do worse than last year? He is a massive game-changer, and even without getting all "his players", will comfortably achieve top 4. Once he has more of his players, and the rest of the squad are trained in his methods I expect to be challenging for the title.
Yes I do, because other clubs have improved more than us, particularly Spurs and Arsenal. I do think Chelsea could potentially have an off year so that might give us a chance to make up ground, but I think West Ham have a better team now than the season they finished 4th. I also wouldn't completely rule out Leicester since they still have a very strong team and finished only 1 point off top 4 season before last and last season they had a major injury crisis similar to the one that led to Liverpool finishing 3rd the season before (although if they lose Fofana or especially Maddison I don't think they have much hope). I don't think Leicester will finish ahead of us to clarify, I'm just pointing out that you can't look at us in isolation from the situations at the other clubs we're competing with.

Thats most definitely de Jong included in that.
They don't want him and they need him gone. This week will be pretty decisive

I wouldn't be so sure, they have a lot of deadwood before they get to FDJ

So basically if they want anymore players, they HAVE to get rid of some to free up some more FFP

The situation hasn't changed though has it... it's take a pay cut, or leave. He's still their top earner by an absolutely country mile, they can't have that.
He doesn't want to take a pay cut, he can stay on the deal he has now, but you can be damn sure that Barca will make his life a misery and he'll likely be begging to leave next summer. The way they're treating him is an absolute joke and i think he's actually starting to realise that too.

This seems like a gaping hole in the legislation for clubs like Barcelona with loads of assets to take advantage of. I think it should not factor in to the revenue assessment for this reason

We do not know how much margin they have left with the activation of this lever.

I bet the fourth lever involves the players showing up at birthday parties to make balloon animals.

Barca able to register their new players:nervous:

No matter how many levers and players they register, they still need to meet the La liga wage cap limit which doesn’t change. They need rid of FDJ either way.

I'd be well happy going in with a couple of promoted academy lads, Frenkie de Jong, Fred, McTominay, Eriksen & Bruno as our midfield options personally.
Eriksen and Bruno will be the options for number 10. FDJ, Fred and Mctominay for the 2 other midfield positions, let's hope Zidane performs like his name sake because we're one injury to Fred/FDJ away from our season becoming a disaster in that case.

I think I am gonna tell my wife that I am taking out my lever - next time I am paying my bills

If they can register the players it is that the club is within the salary limit. Otherwise they could not register them.

Can you imagine the absolute scenes if we get a sky sports pop up in the next couple of days…

“Breaking News: Chelsea agree fee to sign Frenkie De Jong from Barcelona.” :nervous:

Barca are the worst run big club in football. Thr short term moves they’re making in desperate bids to get cash are tragic.
It's the fact that they're sacrificing their future. Short term fixes whilst avoiding the long term problem. Theres only so many levers they can trigger before they run out of quick cash injections.

I do see what they're trying to do though, buy a good team to get success on the field to increase cash flow. Only problem is, if they have a crap season... well, god knows where they end up

What's annoying is that the players coming in probably will make them contenders for the title this season. If they win that or the CL then they will then claim they are back on track for solvency and sign another 5 players next summer.

No, that doesn’t make sense. Why does activating a lever now allow them to register the new players?

If the club is within the La liga salary limit, why can’t they register them already without needing more money.

This could end up backfiring spectacularly given that they have an unproven manager who also happens to be a club legend.

Not going to happen, but it would be utter scenes on here.

If it was going to happen, a Chelsea tier 1 would have confirmed interest at the very least. They've been silent on the issue because Chelsea have bigger fish to fry than adding another midfielder. They're rammed in that position as it is. They do need a couple of defenders though

Third lever means nothing, other than that fat feck Laporta is killing the club for short term gains

Thing is, they almost have to win the league or CL this coming season to justify the investment and sacrifice made. Leaving it to the twists and turns of your typical season while losing your assured revenue streams can only end badly

They are busy trying to work out how they are going to pay more for Fofana than the cost of FDJ. Leicester sure know how to sell a defender!

We should absolutely not be paying a penny of the money Barcelona owe him. We'd look like absolute mugs.
I don't mind looking like mugs, my problem is with being mugs.

Same here. Four weeks ago I was of the opinion that we should wait it out as long as required and being honest that probably is still the smartest move financially, Barca will eventually buckle. But feck it, if we have to pay them 17 million more than we originally agreed to get this shit done, just fecking do it, it’s not our money anyway.
That was a terrible approach a month ago but at least you could justify it through wanting a proper preseason, etc. Doing it now is spineless.

I hear you though, we will do it anyway so what are we waiting for?

That thought process only works if you're certain we won't get De Jong. As squnadering £60m on Neves fimrly puts the nail in the coffin for the De Jong transfers.

It's the same thought process a child uses when you go into a shop to buy a lego set they've been after for ages - to find it out of stock. The sensible thing is to save their money until it's available again. The child obviously wants to buy anything with the £50 they've been given, so they waste it on megablocks because they haven't got megablocks and it's sort of like lego.

We all know megablocks is far inferior to lego, and that silly child has wasted their money through impatience.
Great analogy. You are just missing the part were the poor child otherwise plays with McFlocks. Megablocks are inferior but somewhat fit, while McFlocks are made of jello.

And paying 10m for de Jong or spending 50m on the next Fred... no thanks.
This and your whole "we are giving Barca the 17M anyway" remind me of an old boss who used to repeat "never negotiate with yourself".
