Michael Owen on the case

   Oh Joan, what a playful rascal!
feck me, whataboutism.

Could you as you claimed, pay your players on time, in full, as per their contracts?

Or was that utter tripe?

Do you owe players like Messi and others because you couldn’t fecking do what you are claiming you could.
No, we are talking about FC Barcelona

Obviously with these percentages the other teams did not have to ask for loans or make capital increases to pay salaries. Now you put data, to see how you refute this.

You are welcome to contribute arguments since the other user does not have them and has gone to the past when we were talking about the present and Laporta.

Who the feck cares who your president is, we’re talking about your club. You elect your fecking presidents, no-one else gives a feck.

This discussion is about FC Barcelona.

I’d love to involve myself in your conversation but I’m afraid all I’ve got is Barca are a broke joke of a club and Laporta is a lying conniving weasel. Not sure that adds much, but thanks for the invite. :wenger:

Which part of that has anything to do with whether or not FC Barcelona have paid their players, in full, as per their contracts. A statement you made, a statement that is utter tripe, 100% factually incorrect.

Here you were saying that Barcelona did not pay its players in the present and since you have no arguments you have gone to the past where all the teams had to ask for loans to pay.

I just explained it to you, how Barcelona couldn't ask for a loan because they had to make deferred salaries and couldn't ask for a loan because there was no president. Obviously we were talking about Laporta and you have gone to the past because of course you had no arguments.

You seem like a reasonable poster, but all you're doing is presenting excuses why your club did what you claim they didn't. Those are valid explanations to a certain degree, but it doesn't change the fact you had to find agreements for delaying wages.

And we're neither talking about Laporta nor Bartomeu, we're talking about your club

I have already said the worst thing that can be said about a person about Bartomeu. And de Laporta too, and I have always said and continue to say that he should not be president of Barcelona.

I simply say that it is not true that Barcelona does not pay its players.

The only difference between Barcelona and the other clubs is that Barcelona made an agreement to defer salaries and the other clubs requested loans or made capital increases.

Barcelona are like the "friend" who borrows 100 quid off you and then every time they get money rather than paying you back they just spunk it on nights out or shit for their girlfriend.:)

My favourite thing about this summer has been Barcelona acting like a student on freshers week who just got their very first loan payment from the government.

. Obviously we were talking about Laporta and you have gone to the past because of course you had no arguments.

Obviously we were talking about Barcelona FC, and just 1.5 years ago, and even today you have a president pushing wage reductions daily through the media because of his “new wage structure” whilst he signs Lewandowski on around 18-19m gross annually

I don’t need any arguments, it’s 100% factually incorrect that you pay your players on time, as per their contracts. You may do in future, who knows, I bloody well hope so, but to present you haven’t been doing that.

All teams? I don't recall United asking for loans to pay wages for players! We didn't even furlough any staff!

Can you imagine the Caf if that happened? Caftards are embarrassed if we pursue a player too long, never mind begging for money to pay them! It'd be pandemonium!

Lapaorta's "We're doing everything to keep Frenkie" amounts to "We've asked him to take a pay cut to stay," amarite?

We did take a loan, didn't we?

It's the part I don't get. Is the president a guarantor of the loan, or something? But how can he be since the law's been repealed absolving him of any financial responsibility! @Niemans you're not making any sense.

Laporta has restructured the wages at Barca and there is now a wage cap. Frenkie's wages aren't in line of this cap thus he would need to take a pay cut in order to stay, pretty sure he himself would of known this at the start of the summer. That is an option remember, nobody is putting a gun to his head.

And Frenkie‘s agent has said unequivocally no to that. Frenkie‘s salary is not outrageous for his stature. The reason it is going up the next four years are the deferred wages Laporta McStuffins is trying to weasel out of.

Putting so much pressure on him to lower his wages while spending cash like crazy on new players, is just goatfecking awful.

Barcelona are like the "friend" who borrows 100 quid off you and then every time they get money rather than paying you back they just spunk it on nights out or shit for their girlfriend.:)

Not only do they owe money to players, they owe at least three former coaches as well.

BTW Koeman was treated like shiit too by Laporta. Another example of a dedicated professional who loves the club being abused by them.

Barça is an embarrassment. Probably corrupt as well.

Yes, you need arguments but you don't have them. And we were talking about Laporta and you've gone back in time when there was no president.
And if Barcelona had not paid they would have been relegated.

So why did United raise their debt, by magic?

Of course it is, that's why the president and the board of directors must endorse with more than €100M.

You haven't even heard that United asked for a loan and you talk about Barcelona, anyway...

It's entirely besides the point, though. Taking a loan in troubling times is totally normal for any business, asking your employees to delay their wages is not

Has any other club ever sold off their future broadcasting revenues before? Let alone a club that consider itself to be ‘different’ from the other, allegedly more commercial clubs?

Barcelona is ‚special‘. They feel entitled and feel like the rules that apply to others don‘t apply to them.

They get away with it except when they don‘t. Where does Messi play?

Of course it is normal and it is the right thing to do. Bartomeu did not do it because he is an idiot and just resigned. And the acting president couldn't make that decision.

When Laporta arrived, the first thing he did was ask for that credit.

Farcelona have absolutely schooled everyone in this transfer window. Literally revamped their team in one go when they supposedly have no cash.

On the other side, you have Manchester 'we've changed' United.

It's like rubbernecking a car crash ...

Nah, it's because I don't have to worry about my club being run into the ground ... Leeches as they are, the Glazers know not to bleed us too much. I remember when they took us over, folks were worried about precisely the sort of asset-stripping your president is essentially doing.

Sacrificing future income for immediate liquidity isn't a good sign. Call it levers, call it what you want. Those are the facts.

And you still owe your employees money! Which will be paid at an 'agreed-upon time' right? ;)

Unless you have it signed in blood I would not trust Barca to give me my outstanding monies. My guess is that they hope players who deferred wages will eventually just give up on them and walk away or be "shamed" by Laporta in public.

It is a bit worrying when you think the season starts next week and we've spent less than Leeds, West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle...

Their books are being insured by prestige at this point. This much financial mismanagement will have anyone else broke and players avoiding. On the financial side almost makes one relieved the leaches running us have a basic understanding of finance. So they double our revenues and are still needing players to take paycuts. Honestly wish we'd move on to save us the benefit of reading Barca's financial jargon.

Has to be corrupt. You don't sell 25% of your future 25yrs TV earnings for $540million when you normally get ard $140m a year.
Who does such a bad deal? Fishy.

Or are they such a financial risk that you have so give so much away? Can't be right?
