Liverpool are going to break Arsenal's 49 game unbeaten run | HAHAHAHAHAHA LIVERPOOL BASTARDS | Specialists in Failure

They've already won the league. Best we can hope for is that by trying to win by a record number of points or without any losses, costs them in Europe.

Saw on another site that we've got as many wins in January as Utd did in the whole of the 98/99 season. It's true, I just googled it.
I doubt anyone will care if we don't win the treble ourselves.

I think I may need to place a £5 bet for Liverpool to lose their next league game.
Stop when they play City as the odds won't be that great then i'd imagine.
£40 to lose, possibly hundreds to gain

Are you for real?

It's their job to win games.

Also a strong team. Our last 6 league games have all been against top 8 teams.

Five of our next six league games are against the bottom four.
My point was the league is already won. There is other players on the panel looking for more game time and last number of games was the time to do it. Top 6 or 8 sides means what exactly? No disrespect but Wolves, Sheffield United but those sides so high up the table only highlights that this is a league filled with mediocrity and Liverpool making a few changes probably would still beat the majority of teams in this league anyway.

Because the league's not won until it's won. Last season's near miss is felt so acutely that you don't take chances with the City team even with a double-figure lead.
It's done long ago mate. City aren't a patch on the previous two seasons and their focus is on 2nd place since December.

It's a poor point. You're basically saying "Klopp shouldn't mind about loosing a few games, because there are players who need games to get their participation medal."

The run of games against top 8 teams obviously is not as good a time to rest players as the run of games against the bottom 4.

I don't even know why I am replying. Critiquing Klopp for not slacking off and being willing to lose a few games for the sake of the backups being happy has to be a WUM.

If Liverpool lose two games and the gap becomes 10 points then the mood music changes significantly. You don't let up.

Nobody minds about losing especially Klopp, however plenty would agree that he's playing his strongest available line ups in every league game recently as his eyes are as much on records as a title that is already won.

You need to stop with top 8 stuff also. The worse United team in Premier league history are currently 5th and only 2 wins off 4th, if this league had real top quality teams United wouldn't even be in the top ten.

Alright, I'm out. Got too many replies from me already so well done on that.

Last season Klopp was criticised as we draw a few games and lost the title by a point. This season, he's criticised for winning too many games even though he 'doesn't need to'. He does need to as we've not won anything yet. You don't slack off when there's still something to win.

Losing the title by 1 point after losing just one game all season could have affected our players really badly. We played the season of our lives and it still wasn't good enough. That could have played on everyone's minds and the thought of 'it doesn't matter what we do, we won't win it anyway' could have crept in.

Klopp has us running through brick walls for the cause and the likelihood is that we won't stop until we have the title guaranteed. Our fitness allows us to do that and couple with our in game management, there's no reason to think that this can't continue. We may not be as successful in games next season but you won't see any players dropping their heads as they'll be chasing number 20 hopefully and Klopp will use that as motivation.

I did something similar two seasons ago with City and almost hit the jackpot with Palace at home when Milojevic missed the 90th minute penalty to win the game. Palace were 12/1 on the day and I had a decent punt on them as I felt they would frustrate City and had a good home record at Selhurst Park that season. :(

I do agree with you, though: this Liverpool team is unremarkable and a defeat isn’t far away at all (probably away from home).

I'm worried about them not losing a single point for the rest of the season more than being worried about them breaking Arsenal's record.

I think comparatively most of the times we won the league it was a much lower points total than chelsea, City and soon to be you. Relatively often under Fergie we would start the season off relatively slowly and end incredibly strong. It’s seeming more and more like you just can’t do that anymore - the level of consistency you need throughout an entire season is higher.
Squad use changed, too. A quick look at appearance stats is very telling:

- In 1998/99, we had eight players who appeared in more than 50 games. In 08/09, it was only four players.
- In 1998/99, five players started at least 50 games. In 08/09, only one did (Vidic, if anyone's interested).

Rotating as little as we did in 1998/99 makes it a lot harder to achieve those high points totals.

There’s no way we can keep this up. It’s amazing where were at considering our list of injuries this season. Matip, Alisson, Naby, Fabinho, Shaqiri, Milner, Lovren, and now Mane. No one has had injuries like this and kept pace like us. Incredible.

You have been blessed with few injuries for a long time. Most of those guys are backup players.
Mane will be back and you will have your first 11 ready for all games since you never rotates anyway.

I think City will beat us at the Etihad again. Losing Laporte was the equivalent to us losing VVD. If that injury had been the opposite way round I'm pretty sure City would be miles clear at the top now instead of us.

As it stands that could be game number 49, but I think that will change if we get to the FA cup quarter final.

The irony is that most of the backup players can say that they have contributed significantly enough during this record-breaking run.

Sorry, what do you mean? Some joke, or my English and comprehension fail me?

Edit: ah, from start of season until January. Got it, eventually.

If VVD gets injured I think you will drop points.

We've played 6 out of the top 8 teams both home & away, with just City away & Chelsea home to come. The rest of our remaining 13 matches are all against sides currently 9th or lower. VVD would probably be missed against the better sides, but I'm sure we'd cope pretty well without him for the rest.

Wasn't the league, outside of the top 4, filled with mediocrity for many years ? Both United & Arsenal, even in their prime, & without them making 'changes', were no strangers to getting beaten by the so-called lesser teams.

I keep forgetting that Arsenal are in the list of sides 9th or lower.

Next game has them matching Forest's 42 game streak in 1978. Come on Southampton!

First record in sight right now is the most wins in a row. We are at 15. Four more and we beat city's record. Given that Southampton is by far out toughest of the four, we have a great shot at that.

City are the only team realistically that I can see beating Liverpool. I don't think anybody else will unless klopp rotates players and rests players due to a run in CL.

I struggle to see other teams even drawing with Liverpool the way things are going

Away days are always tricky but you seem to always score about 42 goals at Norwich so not too much to worry about.

Well at least if they win all their remaining games then that one draw against us will ruin what could be a 100% perfect season! Ha! Take that!

Never in million years we've seen 20 points lead..it's ridiculous.

True about City, since they lost their first choice center back, they went to shit.

That was 19..not 20.
Yeah I forgot about that one.
 Yeah, Liverpool definitely breaking that record. And annoyingly it's not even that City are that shit, they'll probably get about 90 points. It's just that Liverpool are too fecking good.

Made me wonder, Is that the standard now?
to win the league, a team must have above 100 points.

Mind boggling.
