What I (want to) read in this

I see it as a challenge : Getting united back on top is definitely a challenge

Logical that one option is better : it’s logical that united is the better option. More money and playing time. But his heart wants barcelona. But he chooses the logical option so he chooses united.

This is all leading to a done dealio! Just as Thiago, Hazard, Bale, Fabregas, Griezmann, Ramos etc etc were!

Yup. Every quote of his has pointed to him signing for us. Never mentioned trophies and CL football- just development, challenge, playing time, etc.

Surely the step up from Ajax to Barcelona first team is just as much a "challenge" as joining us and being undisputed first teamer. Think you guys are reading too far into those comments

Me too and I'm reminded of it every time I log in with my username that was set while we were odds on to sign him FFS!
think of it as a blessing, if he'd have signed everyone would hate him by now for being shit or not trying enough or having too many hair-cuts

He quotes about his new club will be a challenge, getting Utd back to the top is a big challenge and don't think there's a bigger challenge out there. Barcelona walked away with their league and PSG did. Bigger challenge getting Utd back competing for the title and getting the club back in the champions league. He will be playing every week at Utd and potentially be the club captain.
He's also talking about the "nearest future". When you think of it like that, the kid has a fantastic attitude. He can prove himself even more by joining us and in a very difficult league. Barca is, undoubtedly, the easy way.

Those quotes really do seem to gravitate him towards us more than the others, don't they?

Oi! Don't you dare think like that. He's coming here. No doubt.

That challenge is one thing. The kid said he wants game time. And playing in and mastering the premier league will serve him well in the future for any move to Spain.

I'd also like to point out what happened to Pique. He couldn't get into the starting lineup at United ahead of Rio and Vidic, then walked into the all conquering Barca side and has comfortably stayed there.

The funny thing is I'm not even sure we are the logical option. Over the past 3 years, we have become a graveyard for players. Schneiderlin, Depay, Darmian, Bailly, Mkhi, Lukaku etc were all doing well at their previous clubs and their reputation has taken a battering since they joined (and in some cases left) us. Of course, the reasons are many, the players being unable to adapt, poor scouting, not talented enough etc...but we stopped being a logical option long ago.

Still, I'm glad if we have pulling power of course.

All this excitement and hype about us signing 3 players in one week.

I almost fell for it for one second and then I thought this is Manutd, and Ed Woodward, there is no chance of getting 3 signings in one week.

De Ligt will go Barca or PSG (Neymar Mbappe signed for a challenge)

Fernandez will go City

We will end up spending £15m on James and Rojo a 4 year deal.

Utd definitely would be a challenge, however he may well also be saying joining Barca is a challenge due to the step-up in terms of league, the same could be said for Real as they're also in a rebuild, or even PSG as they have established CB's.

For the record, i'm fully invested in him coming to Utd, i'd also prefer we steer clear of Anton. given he seems as much, if not more of a diva than Pogs.

I honestly believe we're going to sign him. I'm not particularly confident, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up elsewhere, but I think he's odds on to come here.

I'm desperate for it to happen so that I can watch Ballague squirm as much as anything else.

If we're trying to read a deep indication of any kind from his generic, vague declarations, I could also argue going to PSG to help them win the CL is the biggest challenge of them all. ;)

The obvious choice would be joining Barca, playing with Messi and De Jong, winning trophies every year, and challenge for CL
The 2nd choice would be joining PSG, high salary, playing with Neymar and Mbappe, winning league every year, and challenge for CL
The most challenging choice would be joining Man Utd, playing with Young and Jones, risking his whole career winning nothing, challenge for top 4 spot in the league

With Neymar and Mbappe leading the line that really is a challenge.

That’s the sort of decision that clubs can make if they aren’t desperate. Unfortunately, we are and so we have to pay over the odds.

Does this guy think he is Griezzman. Maybe it's a sign and they'll arrive together. The double dickhead duo
It's part and parcel of modern football. Yes, it's tedious and yes, it makes players look like narcissists but it's agent-driven to boost their client's profile. They're just feeding the muppets.

Hope we sign him. Refuse to get sucked in and hurt like many other times.

But it's obviously on.
