The Dutch report should be the most reliable one. No bias against United or helping Barcelona. If they say we're out, then it's probably over already.
You are wrong about that. There is a huge bias towards Barcelona because of the Dutch people who played there and most of all because of Cruijff.

Manchester United isnt very popular here right now. Beating Ajax in the Europa League final, playing shit football while being rich, poaching Dutch talents and Mourinho is likely the most hated person in football here.

Daily Fail running an article about him basically asking for guaranteed first team football as one of his main demands. Thats us all day long, if of course they havnt just pulled that out of their arses which they almost certainly have.

How important is history, really? You have to offer more. Stories have come out today that both Pogba and Lukaku have accepted massive pay cuts to leave. If our pool of potential buys is nothing but players who have affection for us then we’re more screwed than we realise.
Ask Liverpool. They were dog shit for years but somehow still managed to attract decent names.

It's like religion, the stories apparently happened over 3000 years ago, doesn't stop a whole lot of people buying into it.

PSG can seriously feck off. Nothing club, bunch of spiteful bottlers. I wonder how they'll make another expensive high profile signing with FFP breathing down their neck.

Aside from the fact that there's obviously a strong correlation between Liverpool attracting big names and religion, plenty of stories from 2,000/3,000 years ago have been a) confirmed by scientists, b) parables that those believing use try to understand on different levels.

Stick to football, please, just like I don't see christians/muslims etc going around here telling everybody to believe. Your private matter as they say.

They didn’t buy the hottest talents though, they were never going toe to toe with Madrid, Barca, PSG, Bayern, etc. for the signatures of players. They’ve been really smart in the transfer market by buying good players and taking them up a level.

Very true unfortunately, we should adopt a similar strategy.

One thing I will say is I think people need to drop this narrative of ‘let’s hope they don’t sell Coutinho first’, or worse still, ‘let’s not fund their bid for De Ligt’. From what I can see, the issue is not a case of they simply can’t find more than £50 a week down the back of their sofa. It seems to be that they just refuse to go above a certain amount. There is no indication that just because they sell one player, it means they will make a decision to pay a 19 year old £300k a week. If they were WILLING to do that, I’m sure they’d have done it long ago. I doubt they will pay him what we are offering regardless of whether they sell or not. And fair enough. They aren’t desperate, and it will cause a lot of unrest.

I still don't get the PSG links. They already have Thiago, Marquinhos and Kimpembe and considering De Ligt has stated that he wants to play where he gets minutes and develops, it should rule them out already.

He would get minutes but i'm not sure how he can develop himself in the french league. He's already past that level.

Tottenham's rise was also fueled by a similar transfer strategy, and it's what I'd love to see us pursue. This whole "we can get anyone because we can pay them obscene wages" mentality is both gross (so we're OK with being a mercenary club now?) and unsustainable (we have massive money, but we cannot compete financially with oil money or the literal state of Qatar).

I think De Ligt is an incredible player with an extremely high ceiling, but giving a kid 300K wages is mind boggling. I remember when people flipped out about Rooney getting 180K a week after he submitted his transfer request. Or when we mercilessly mocked City and called them a team of mercenaries because they were paying an in-his-prime Yay Toure 220K a week. I understand that the game has changed substantially since the early 2010s, but when you start a 19 year-old on 300K, you're (a) asking to get held to ransom every 2-3 years come early-extension time, and (b) upending the wage structure in a way that ensures that even mediocre players will start asking for more than they're worth, forcing you to decide whether you pay them that to ensure continuity/to keep squad players, or let them go and risk not finding a like-kind replacement.

No idea why Utd. doesn't make a move on any of the interesting Ajax players.
De Ligt, De Jong (too late already), Neres, Taglifico, Ziyech.

I feel like all of them would be upgrades to the current squad!

Well, though De Telegraaf is shite as a newspaper they are one of the more reliable sources when it comes to Ajax news. That is mostly down to Mike Verweij working for them though who is a "tier 1" if you like that sort of thing, and he didn't write this article nor did he tweet about it.
The same Mike Verweij who wrote Frenkie was off to PSG. 100%.

As i said before. He's very reliable when the deals are done. Not as it comes to rumors.

I didn't think we had any chance with this deal and to be honest I still don't, but my sneaky spidey sense is starting to twitch a little. At the very least we are going to make whomever does get him play a lot more than maybe they originally intended to. Would be some coup if we pulled this one of.

Its been stated many times that DeJong actually said himself he did agree to join PSG and had to call Maxwell to apologies about the uturn

If Mike Verweij didn't write it, then I doubt the claims in it.

The PSG stuff is bs. They're gonna get kicked out. Real and Barcelona will make sure of it. United's been too nice. Always too nice and respectable. Doesn't wear that moniker well.

Is this the fastest growing thread on the caf other than when United are playing?

That said, I really hope he steers clear of City and PSG. Go to Barca or Juventus or even you, anyone but those doped up cheats.

Raiola's greed and strong control over his clients gives me hope.

It feels just like the days before LvG's arrival or when PP traveled to the U.S. after huge speculation that he aperently will chose real over us which turned out to be B.S. Pogba & LvG kept playing it cool and led the media to nowhere while it was already done a dusted.

he'll not turn an offer to be the best paid teenager in the world because he wants to sit on the bench to watch messi, will he?

It's the calm before the storm.
