There will be a lot of angry and disgruntled Tottenham-players going into the summer holidays, yet another season spent at a second-tier club unable to lift trophies. They will have felt they are a better team than United this season, but miraculously find themselves below us in the table - losing out in the cup semis at home too. Why did it happen? Experience and mentality. United are winners, Tottenham are not.

Eriksen, Alderweireld, Kane, Alli, Vertonghen, Dembele et al will have conversations with their agents for sure. They are unsustainable, you can’t keep good players without giving them a fair amount of money. These guys want trophies, they aren’t getting younger

Nope. They all want to play in the new stadium.

That performance from them at the weekend wasn't a 'bottle job'. They just lost a tight game.
The whole 8 semi-final loses in a row is what makes them a 'bottle job' club overall.

Team spends ton of money on New stadium and facilities, then overcharges fans and doesn’t invest enough in the squad to pay the bill for a decade. Arsenal did it, spurs will follow suit.

Of course they will. The difference is that Spurs have no recent success, they don’t have the fans or global appeal, they missed out yet again this season. Next year it’s even harder with their new stadium - which after game 1 will feel like just another new arena without any soul. Their chance was when Leicester grabbed the trophy, now they’re as far away as during the 90’s. This was their year (according to themselves), they are 22 points behind the leaders and only five ahead of the abyss that is 5th.

Holy moly, 1 billion? I'm trembling by that prospects. :nervous:
Are you Tottenham season ticket holder? They surely will be when seeing the ticket prices from now on. Someone must pay for those investment, alright? Businessmen ain't doing charity work so guess who.

Losing 8(!) semi-finals on the trot, combined with the Leicester City capitulation, seems to suggest that there is a mentality problem with the Spurs players and the club itself. That said, how will a 'new stadium complex and training ground' help to rectify this deep-seated mental issue currently embedded within the core of the club?
They need to invest in top class sports psychiatrists.

A top class midfielder, new full backs and a proper backup to Kane would be better. We need to spend £150 million + this summer.

We have a good team but we can't hope to win things if we don't start investing in the side. We are not bottlers, we are a side punching above its weight who has fallen short because the club's around us have all spent around £100 million more than us each year.

I can't understand why spurs (poch) keep saying progress this year. They were challenging for the titles last two years (that's progress) and this year they are fighting for top 4. That sounds like regress more than progress? The top 3 this season will improve next season, and if Chelsea invest, and Arsenal get a top manager, I can only see them dropping even further. You can't realistically tell me that they will be challenging for te title next year? All this progress talk is BS IMO.

Bottling is probably a right word in grand scheme of things and not just this match.

With that team , they should be fighting for titles. Starting to doubt Poch's credentials as well. Not sure if he has that to succeed with a big club.

I think your midfield is fine, Wanyama is finding it hard to get back to decent form. The problem with a backup to Kane is finding a good striker happy to sit on the bench for large stretches of the game which I don't think you will and if you, it'll probably another Llorente. You need to find a system that is efficient without Kane, even if it means to play without a proper striker in the team. What your team really lacks IMHO is a player like Anthony Martial, versatile to play several attacking positions

We are lacking in midfield and it needs sorted.

What's wrong with Tripper and Davies?

You'll probably sell Rose, Dembele and Alderweireld for 100m. You're right about the midfield though. Dier and Wanyama aren't really great imo.

Alli and Son fits the bill. They just got Moura as back up for these whenever they were pushed up as main forward. They did quite well against Chelsea or they would have been in deep trouble now with last slip up in league game. Problem right now is Kane after the latest injury ain't at his best form, and Poch indulged him to have him start instead of persist with that set up against Chelsea.

Spurs lack enough creativity. They look extremely dependent on Eriksen to create and Kane to finish chances. Their form after the CL exit has dipped too. Overall though, they have done quite well given their financial limitations.

Id be worried if I was a spuds fan.
They've got a few players that would get into other top teams. Loyalties might be tested this transfer window.

Moura doesn't count because he's fecking shit. I never understood what people see in him. Alli can do the job but it's clearly more restrictive playing like that for him and Son is much better wide.

I am not here to rate how good/underwhelming Tottenham players. I only clarify about their options. They just got Moura, so it's not like they're binning him, ain't they? So he is in the plan. The outcome is only time will tell.

Still better than ours. :(

Proper mentality of a grass is always greener on the other side. Trippier and Davies are not better than Valencia and Young.

Think Poch was indirectly saying Spurs shouldn't expect more with the resources they've given him.
Think this summer will be a crossroad for them.

I'd say they are. Both are more dynamic and better at crossing.
All of them don't pull up any trees to be honest.

This is the biggest summer window we have had in decades. I honestly believe that. The board need to heavily back him with serious cash.

It's easy to look dynamic when you're playing in a 3-5-2 which Spurs has done on many occasions this season. See Young's performance at Watford when he played as a wingback rather than a fullback.

We were talking about what Spurs needed to improve. Moura ain't improving shit is all I'm saying.

They're really not.
The biggest criticism of them on their subreddit is how wasteful their fullbacks are when in crossing positions.
Just shows you the grass isn't always greener

Edit well thats freaky! 2 great minds and all that

I think Spurs with Alderweireld, Rose and Walker had the best defense in the league, but that defense has been broken up and Spurs are suffering as a result.

They are, just about. Young and Valencia are both getting on now though, no shame in that.

Spurs aren't punching above their weight at all, you've got one of the better keepers in the league, the best CB's in the league, the best striker in the league, one of the best players in the league (Eriksen) and the likes of Alli, Son, Dembele & Dier. The fact you haven't spent as much as other sides to build that side is a testament to your recruitment not an indication that you're overachieving

And yes while you were beaten by the better side at the weekend and while we've been better than you all season it was still an opportunity on your home pitch to win a game and go to a final and once again when it counts Spurs were found wanting so why can you do it in January in the league but not this past weekend unless it's a mentality thing?
