Alexis Sanchez | Done deal

City offered 13m after taxes in the summer we raised it by 1m, but the media wants to make it look like it's costing us a fortune ffs.

Neymar earns 700k pw, Messi 770k pw. Offsetting Mkhi's outgoing salary we take on net 360k pw. So essentially you take a player who struggles to get into the team, pay an extra 360k pw in wages and maybe an extra 5m to the scum Raiola and you get a superstar. Best transfer deal we've made in recent history. Agent fees, signing bonuses are pretty normal no matter who you sign so I don't see why that's being counted.

If you count everything (84m salary for 4.5 yrs., 30m signing bonus, 15 agent fee, 5m Raiola scum fee) this deal will probably cost us 29m per year for the next 4.5 yrs (still less than the salary of Ronaldo, Messi, & Neymar). Doesn't sound too exciting does it? Well in that case how do we turn that into a killer headline to get views, "Man Utd is spending 180m on a 29 yr old who's choosing money (1m more a yr...) over a team where he can win (get a trophy he doesn't deserve, and success is not guaranteed beyond this year)."

not to mention by spending money on him, we might avoid signing either bale or ronaldo , media will write +500m fee if we are bringing them in instead

in this inflated market, sanchez would have cost +60m if he is still on 3-4 years contract left, we are also getting rid of our dead weight mkhi ( i feel sorry for him actually , i think in less pressured environment like arsenal, he might flourish )

Woodward is damn genius

I like the breakdown and analysis but you're speaking about the Sanchez wages as if they're a fact.

The deal hasn't even been announced ffs. Why are ppl quoting shite click bait as the gospel now??

Pep's the media darling right now. Plus don't forget whose been briefing the journos. They take shots at MUFC and City PR keep leaking them details.

where's this coming from?

WhatsApp is widely used in Latin America, so that would be the mode of communication for the Chilean media to be well informed.

So the deal tomorrow will worth 1m per week? These all media bitterness and nonsense have to prove that Sanchez choosing money over Almighty Pep.

WhatsApp? What? Are people taking the piss? I don’t get the joke..

Am I reading this right that we have agreed to pay Sanchez 500k a week according to the Chelsea mouthpiece who thinks £58mn is very cheap for Chelsea, how did this conversation even go, Sanchez asked for 400k city said no and we agreed but once city were out of the picture we told Sanchez take a 100k extra because......, does Matt law seriously think everyone is as stupid as him.

So I’m sitting at a bar, having lunch, and a nice looking blond lady seats near me just one seat over. I asked her to pass me the salt, and not only did she pass me the salt, but started talking to me about how she was enjoying a short vacation in Miami, by herself, and has an apartment nearby. So after we start talking, she asks for my handle on WhatsApp. I had the app on my phone, but didn’t know how to use it. So I hand her the phone and 10 seconds later she has added herself to my WhatsApp, and asks that we communicate through there. (Which I didn’t as I’m married).
BTW, where was this nice girl from? Yes, she was Chilean. They love their WhatsApp.

Nice made up story. You don't have a "handle" on whatsapp, you just need a person's contact number added on your phone and it automatically shows up in the app.

I’m not very handy with WhatsApp, which is why she took asked me for my phone and she added herself.

Yeah, that's primarily how my wife and her family here communicate with their family back in Chile.

FTR, my wife is not blonde, before any of you dirty minded dolts tries to make a connection.

Sanchez being the second highest wage earner in Europe is not something I would be surprised about if the rumor are true. He was robbed player of the year last season(Even though most of caf choose hazard) and he has shown this season he is still capable of carry a team to victory single handedly. Those type of players are rare to come accoss.

If we were getting Sanchez for 37 pence and paying him in bags of haribo, the ABU media and fans alike would still manage to put a weird negative spin on it. The footballing world cannot bear it that the sinking ship of Manchester United is throwing its own money around making statements. We are not finished, we will not fade away and the club and the rest of us fans could not care less how they spin it. We all know if City swooped tomorrow and offered Arsenal £50m and Sanchez £1,000,000 a week in wages, the headlines would be; PEP SWOOPS TO STICK ONE TO MOURINHO HAHA. I love it personally, people and the media are just sounding more and more deluded and bitter by the day. Well its safe to say we faded slightly in recent years but we are back with a bang. We have never been more hated. Bring it on!

...and another thing. Why do so many people care what hes being paid? The only peoples opinions on that matter that count are a) the united fans (we put the money into the club ourselves b) the board. If we are both happy, what the hell has it got to do with anyone else?! Literally none of their concern! Bitter and I loooooooove it

How are these journos coming up with numbers? if its 14m a year how can it be 500k pw?
Well, there's only 28 weeks in a year, according to the 'Macnester Utined' calendar I bought from The Works.

I hope we pay him £1m per week, just imagine the reaction. feck 'em, United have the money, throw it at him.

I dont get his reasoning at all. Why should Mikhis wages be subtracted or his be value be factored in?

The point is not about what it is costing United and whether or not we can afford him. Obviously we can.
The point is that we are paying those wages for a player. ( I dont believe the total cost being 180m fwiw)

Saying Mikhis wages/trasnfer value should be subtracted would be like Liverpool fans on rawk saying they paid -15m for Carrol because they sold Torres for 50m.
The thing is we're looking at an likely upgrade in quality while your example of Liverpool was a downgrade. Mkhi currently is useless for us so from our perspective, we're ridding a deadwood at the same time adding quality to the squad. We bought Mikhi for under 30mil. If we're to nitpicking, that fee was Mkhi value. Other than that the virtual value can be anything, even zero like I explained.

Sure we're paying about whatever total value those hacks are saying, but Sanchez if he's playing at his optimal level is worth at least Lukaku fee in this market. Perhaps other clubs don't pay wage, tax and agent fee, so whatever we do we're overpaying?

i think if we waqnt sanchez ready for (even second half bench), today should be an interesting day.

If we just want him by the end of the window, probably going to another slow/twittter journo day

I made the same point yesterday. IMO there's a distinct difference between thinking of a player swap and incorporating the differences in salary vs buying and selling unrelated players. At the heart of it, the 180m figure just gets thrown around to sensationalize things because it's United.

For argument's sake, let's say it *is* 180m. Is that really what United are taking on? IMO no, it's not. At the very least we are cutting whatever Mhki gets paid.

Of course if the swap falls through and we end up just paying cash, then no you wouldn't net it when thinking of it. They're distinct transactions. Though in the end, the effect on the books would potentially be the same.

Yes but he would have very little training with the first team... can't just expect to throw him into the wolves like that. He needs reps with the team.

On 17 August, van Persie transferred to Manchester United. He made his debut on 20 August, coming on as a 68th-minute substitute

If we want to do it, he can certainly play a small role just like RVP.

I think if United had been cruising instead of down a goal, he wouldn’t have played.
i'm just saying it's possible. If if he didn't, RVP would've been a bench option and watched the rest of the match.

My point being, if Jose wants to do something similar, it's entirely possible. Which then goes back to my original point, IF Jose wanted to do something similar, today could be and interesting day. If we just want him done by the end of the window, then highly likely that it will just be another twitter fest of no relevance.

Mkhi's contribution is worthless at the moment. Not good enough in big game. Not justify his wage just for easier games where he is still not among the best on he pitch. We're looking at his value dropping to zero with time

Now suddenly we can exchange him for Alexis who in normal circumstance, would cost 100+ mil in transfer fee in this market.

Think it like this. You bought an regular old gen iPad on Boxing Day. Few months later, Apple stopped support its IOS, and you missed out on new apps. You're offered to trade in your old gen IPad for latest IPad Pro by just paying postage fee and tax... Sure you're paying more than you planned to pay when you purchased the old gen IPad. However, you're paying much less for the supposed IPad Pro in this case. Why would you still be bitching about what you paid for the old IPad, tax and postage fee? You're potentially earning more value in the new IPad Pro.

He's a world class player who's been playing all season and in the same league, it's not like he hasn't been training so needs to get up to speed. Obviously might not start, but he could at the same time, or at least just be a sub. He'll play some part for sure though IMO.

Only the Pogba, Vidal and Berba threads have more replies in terms of transfer rumours. We've just overtaken Sneijder.

Where do you guys think this will end up?
