Alexis Sanchez | Done deal

They think city or chelsea are leaking to journos so as to make us look bad. Which might be true.

Since when has a straight swap with a vastly inferior player cost us 30m?
Swapping a 30m asset with a 30m asset still leaves us with a 0 spend.
Edit point already made.
If anything that 30m asset becomes 80m as soon as he signs the 4 year deal. Shouldn't that work to our favour in the balance sheet?

Wasn't everyone hating us a massive part of what Fergie used to motivate players? I'm fine with all the hate, genuinely prefer to read that than praise. Means we're still the biggest fish, not that there was really any doubt other than delusional Man City fans.

The chap on SSN also said just now it's a swap deal but then quoted the £180m value of the deal and actually mentioned the £30m transfer fee, and some mystery £20m signing on fee.

The Van Dijk deal wasn't broken down in the same way. Funny that.
Wonder if they threw in an annual pass to Blackpool Pleasure Beach?

Coming soon... "Mourinho's spent £480m on players at Utd!"

Adding his valuation of £30m, which we're not paying given it's a swap deal, to the cost of the transfer :lol:

At least the press is creative, I'll give them that.
Let's also subtract the wages we are taking off by getting rid of Mikhi. My guess is Mikhi and Ibra coming off the books pretty much equals what Sanchez will make. Which basically means we are paying 10 million in agents fee, and 20 million signing on, if those rumored numbers are even correct.

I still think the deal will be done before Friday. No point for Arsenal to prolong this considering Sanchez may not play for them, so better get a new player and get things moving. Its not surprising apart from Telegraph/Matt Law rephrasing the same article again and again shows there is nothing new to report. I think Mkhi/Roiala and Arsenal are not finding an agreement that suits everyone. This could delay unfortunately but maybe tomorrow United makes it official.

Yeah there's no way. He's currently on 160k or so, and all the reports say around 14m per year which is around 270k a week. Unless everyone's reported salaries are after tax and everyone actually earns pretty much double what most people think they earn (obviously not) then that's wrong. He's not going from 160k a week to 500k a week

This happens every time. Someone leaks that it's after tax and then when it's actually announced they just have a throwaway sentence in the article that it's before tax like normal, but the "outrage" is already out. So yeah. No chance that's after tax wage.

I wouldn’t even call it lazy reporting, as they are fully aware of what they are doing. It’s just their way of selling more papers or clicks.

"The 29 year-old will be paid £14m a year after tax - just under £27m a year before tax - to join United, on top of his £30m valuation, £20m signing-on fee, and an agents’ fee worth more than £10m. That all adds up to around £180m"

Neymar's total deal is worth more than £400m. £180m for Alexis seems to be fair in this crazy market.

No chance that is the real deal. I am very sure this is leaked by City/chelsea. United will brag too if/when they get him. I would wait for Di marzio to give the real details of the deal. He is very close to raiola and is always right on these things.

Matt Law is very reliable when it comes Chelsea related news, so the fact that he's come out with that exclusive says it all. He also didn't once mention Chelsea paying £7m in agent fee to Barkley, but he writes an article that exaggerates a price that includes 4 years of wages about Sanchez's move to United. Obvious briefing and bias.

I hope we pay as much as possible, just to flash our big testicles infront of City, PSG, Real etc. Let them know, let them hate us.

If the Van Dijk deal was reported in the same manner, can someone give me a definitive(ish) figure of how much he 'cost' Liverpool?
I want the ammo ready for when I speak to my 'believe everything they read without researching a thing' type Scouser-supporting mates.

I couldn't visit this thread for about 6/7 hours and I come back and there are 30+ new pages. By the time I've skim read those, there are another 3/4 new pages. Common problem?

Mourinho back at Lowry Hotel, we aren't going to hear anything tonight either

Ofcouse, Journalist gets more attention hyping our player's total wages 1.5x. I just wanted to point out that a motivated Alexis is worth the ridiculous quoted figure. Easily top 10 players in the world for me.

It’s incredible how much of an agenda the media have just because Alexis chose not to play tiki taka which Guardiola’s balls.

Those numbers are absolute horseshit, theres no way we are going to pay him £500k+ per week.

It won't be that much, I believe it'll be like £150m in total. But honestly the media are being completely pathetic, they are trying to factor in every little cost, which is sad, so sad.

City buying Sanchez for £20m, then suddenly we are 'buying' him for £180m. They seem to forget they only included the initial transfer fee with City, and included all initial and future costs for United... I'll say again... Sad.

They've also omitted any "allegedly" or "we're told" so stating it as a fact.

Assuming not true, I wish United's Twitter account replied saying "this is untrue and if not removed with a full apology, we will be passing the matter to our Solicitors".

It's so annoying that in our lives, we have to be fair, truthful or shtum... when journalists are shite at their job and apparently say/make up anything they want.

Reply, threaten them.... force them to do some actual journalism for a change, the lazy, stupid, useless scum.

How long does it take for a helicopter to travel from London to Manchester? He could be there in no time.
I'm not saying anything is happening though.

feck me, and you lot were once laughing at Liverpool fans checking flights.:rolleyes:

Are those the guys who chased Pogba around in America?
(No, i don't remember them chasing Pogba)Le Iene. It's a sort of satyrical/inquisitve show. Basically those guys go around trying to embarass politicians/scammers/etc who deserve it or just try to have a laugh at a famous persons expence. Mourinho lived in Italy so he's likely familiar with the show, and i'm guessing he played along since he's extremely media savvy

The problem with that it it sets a precedent and then they have to start refuting every bullshit story that gets published or it looks true simply because there is no denial.

The funny thing is that Di Marzio reported the figures that City were going to pay him as similar.
