It's quite obvious IMHO that it's not about our end, but Arsenal securing a replacement. If that replacement shall be Miki, we will probably have to wait or persuade him to join the Gunners.
Sure. But to phrase it like both clubs are adamant that Mkhi has to be a part of the deal is surely misleading. We can get rid of Mkhi to another club, now or in summer. This seems to only hinge on Arsenal getting that replacement.

I want it completed before the end of Jim White's show so he will look a right pillock. :)
Same here. We have agreed personal terms with Sanchez which he has agreed and a fee with arsenal that they have accepted but there’s only a 5-10% chance that he’s coming. I’m not sure who his source is but I’m guessing he’s no mathematician.

This saga is supposed to be about Arsenal needing a replacement for Alex7s. Everyone seems to think that player is Mick the Tarman, so who are the alternatives from Chelsea or Liverpool if they are apparently interested?
Woody also told Jose he's needs to sell before he can buy. Mkhi needs to go

That latest BBC report:
"But neither Arsenal nor United will sanction the deal without Mkhitaryan travelling in the opposite direction."

It would surprise me quite a lot if we weren't willing to do a cash only deal. Mkhi will either leave in January or the summer. He has a choice of going to Arsenal or hardly playing for the rest of the season, not out of spite, just because he's been an absolute passenger this season for us and he'll only go further from being involved if we add Sanchez.
Mourinho said yesterday that he wanted to keep the squad the same size and in the last 6 months there have been reports from reputable hacks suggesting we're guarding against squad bloat (and ensuring the finances don't get out of control) by following a one-in-one-out policy.

Mkhitaryan out - Sanchez in. I guess we might see similar in the summer with replacements for Blind, Darmian, Fellaini and Carrick.

Just got a notification on my phone saying the deal is on the verge of collapse due to Mkhitaryan rejecting arsenal. Apparently he will sign for Chelsea.

Don't ask the source, I'm not even sure why these things pop up on my phone.
Hope your rod is strong enough for such an outrageous bait

Raiola trying to big up his client there. A bit of lip service to show that his client's transfer is the main one. The Sanchez deal being dependent on the Mkhitaryan one makes sense. However, I really can't see Mkhitaryan rejecting Arsenal. Where is he going to find a club that good aftering his poor performances for us? Arsenal could opt for someone better but Wenger would fancy sorting an experienced performer like Mkhitaryan who is technically gifted and has a low centre of gravity.

"Sanchez is part of the Mkhi deal" - so according to the fat feck, we are the feeder club and Arsenal are taking Mkhi away from us while giving us Sanchez as a peace offering. Fine.

Are there some people on here saying Sanchez is too old, or that we are paying too much. Who cares!! We are short of world class attacking players. We do most other things right on the pitch but we seem to lack a penetration up top ( no pun intended) this guy ticks all the boxes. Not reliant on pace, he is a winner. This will breed into the team

We have gone from having one world class player with De Gea, to having two with Pogba. It is now going to become 3. Hopefully in the summer Jose will address those other two problem positions of CM and RW and we will s*it all over that seagull headed tw8t from Catalonia
Sorry, the pedant in me can't let this go.
We have won more since he's been at Arsenal than he has.

If the deal is off because of Mkhitaryan, how would Chelsea be able to get him?

Raiola talking bollocks. Sure:

Yeah, right. So Miki first asked to leave United for Arsenal, and then we asked Arsenal to include Sanchez in the transfer? Riiiight
He's not really saying that though is he, as should be the case Arsenal shouldn't be getting any money from this deal if they're getting a player who still has 3/4 years left on his contract

Well the rationale is that it depends on Mkhi going to Arsenal to both reduce/ remove cash required or a 3rd party sale. Also the salary reduction being relevant in this. Mkhi probably has a higher sale value through Arsenal than he does to other clubs because we are a direct competitor so these deals are rarely available. So there is some sense to this.

The 10% will be the journo assessment of anyone wanting to go to Arsenal lol

I'm starting to doubt this is going to happen. Especially with the need to 'convince' Mkhi to pack his bags. That just sounds wrong, however bad his form has been the past few months.

Hope I'm mistaken.

Good one. As if Chelsea have any place for him given they've now got Barkley, William, Hazard, Pedro etc. all occupying the central areas.

Yeah, I don't buy that for a second. We'd walk away from signing a world class player under the noses of our rivals because we have to adhere to a 22 player squad limit. Laughable really. We don't even have to consider Mkhi as part of a 22 man squad if we sign Sanchez. He's in the "for sale" section.

The only reason this would hold up is if the board is placing those restrictions on Jose's transfer operations. And I know they've been incredibly stupid in the last 5 years with some of the decision making, but this would take the absolute biscuit.

Can anybody explain the Miki thing to me? Is the conversation with Arsenal meant to have gone like this;

Utd - Hi, We'd like to buy Sanchez.
Arse - OK, We would be happy with XXX amount + Miki
Utd - Great, we're happy with that and will sell him

Utd - Erm, Miki we think you should move to Arsenal for you're career and we get Sanchez In return
Miki - Well I don't want to leave because I get paid loads and like the Manchester canal

Utd - Hey, Sorry but Miki doesn't want to leave. Is there any way a deal can still be done?
Arse - No, we now sell to Chelsea

Have I missed something? Miki seems as irrelevant in this transfer as he does on a match day.

Sanchez is going to be absolutely fantastic for us. Just one of those players . Get a fullback and central midfielder in the summer and we're looking pretty feckin decent.

So now we can confirm where BBC got the mkhi stuff

Riaola is briefing the press. This is very good news, he just huffs and puffs, but he gets his clients to other clubs.

Everyone should be very happy that Raiola seems to want to do the deal.

As if we are going to pull out of the Sanchez deal based solely on mkhitaryan not accepting a move to Arsenal. We will just pay the quoted £35m and offload him in the summer. That would be like refusing to buy your son the new pair of Football boots that he wants when they are on a 50% sale because he won’t grow out of his current pair for another two weeks.

The caf says half of those are shite and Sanchez is the best thing since sliced bread, so that makes zero sense.
What? Who said they're shit? Is the caf one person now? And what does that have to do with Mkhitaryan? He himself has been trash. If he goes to the champions he'll likely end up on the bench again.

Sanchez is fantastic though. You don't rate him or something?

Arsenal fans not really keen on Mkhitaryan.
That's why I stopped going to Arsenal forums. Too many people trying to one-up one another in negativity.

The mood among Arseblog commenters is pretty positive.

It could all end up a disaster but it could also be a rare deal that works out for everyone involved.
