If we can get it done by Stoke that would be ace.

Why are some people so certain that Sanchez will run to Pep? As certain as the earth is round, or that Pep is the inventor of football, perhaps?

Teams don't bid these days without an indication that the player will consider joining them. He has probably offered some form of encouragement to invoke a bid.
True, if that is to force City's hand on his wage demands and signing on fee or because he is genuinely open to joining us is the pertinent question.

One thing that has struck me about this Sanchez deal is that he is moving for money, that is his primary motivation.

Trying to not get my hopes up. Most likely the agent is pitting us against City to create a sense of competition and get the best possible terms for Sanchez

Oh c'mon. We know he's better than that. His confidence is shot right now and maybe the pressure at United is too much for him. Fresh start would defiantly help him a lot. Also mkhi and Sanchez are at similar ages and the money involved in the transfer would be quite similar.
Similar to what sorry?

I am actually a massive Mhiki fan, but he has proved he can't get out of ruts in form very easily. If he does go Arsenal, I hope he does well.

I'd have to disagree, he's been angry at Arsenal for a while, his mentality and theirs just does not compute.

Would like us to get him - the only reason he'd maybe not go to City is that getting as much game time is probably a little less likely. He would nail down the Right Forward position at United, while at City he'd have to try and displace Sane and Sterling. Doesn't sound difficult on paper, but they're in such good form and suit how City play, I'd expect quite a bit more rotation. The only other thing I can think of is if Aguero is planning on leaving for some reason, which I doubt, so playing as the no.10 is very unlikely.

The option of off-loading Mkhitaryan would suit Arsenal if we still offer a bit of cash on top, as they keep a decent player for a similar position and are forced to play Lacazette as the main striker which I'm sure Arsenal fans want to see even more of.

Either way, if Sanchez has as much of a say as we think, he'll go to City for a guaranteed Premier League title. It's Robin van Persie again to the more likely better side for the time being. Our only chance is if we are offering significantly more money, but he can probably do as well at City money-wise anyway, and it's a shoe-in for more immediate success.

Don't think it's fair to say he's moving for money, when you're moving from Arsenal.

I always thought he was the wrong player for Arsenal and absolutely perfect for us.

If it happens it’s a shame it’s happening at 29, but still muppetastic.

Getting world class player on the wing: checked.
Getting rid of Micky: checked.
It may be all bollocks, but a man can dream ...

Would Ed Woodward be so daft not to speak with a players representatives and see whether the player is open to coming to United before making a bid? So, he’s either done that and Sanchez is open to it, or Sanchez only says he’s open to United in an attempt to force City to get him out of Arsenal now rather than waiting until summer.

I see legs to this story. Sanchez has become a beast of his own since leaving Barca. He needs freedom and is much more of a focal point. He has developed into a different player due to his Chile exploits as well.

Guardiola would be absolutely furious with Sanchez when he is floating around, dropping deep, instead of staying in his position.

However, I still think he will sign for City, because there's every chance this is just to get a better deal when he does move to city.

We really weren't the most likely side for the League when Van Persie joined.

Only way he would come to us is if he has doubts over playing time at City and it's important to him. It looks like he would be a cover for Jesus. However I can't see where he would fit into our team? He is LW/ST just like Martial/Rashford ? No doubts he is better than Rashford but what do we do with him then?

I cant see anything other than Sanchez going City. (obviously hope im wrong)
But if he goes City in Jan, hes pretty much guaranteed a league title and then a chance for more coming up given the way their squad is pretty much complete.

The only reason I can see this story leaking:

Arsenal trying to drive up price City pay
City can say they got one over United as player chooses them/Pep over United/Jose

After all the Ozil talk this would be like all the public flirting with Morata and turning around and signing Lukaku.

Obviously yeah, but it wouldn't take Mkhi to get Sanchez. More dollar would.
Clearly there would be some cash going there way aswel as mikhi. But the answer to your question remains the same, if the reports are true, the reason we'd let mikhi go to arsenal over going abroad would be because he's a player they want that would help us get a player we want...ie sanchez

Where the grass is greener.
I would be beyond shocked, it would be one of the most surprising turn of events if he doesn't go to City. Even though, on paper, it makes a lot more sense to go to us as he'd play every game and would be a big piece of the puzzle.

Imo it's Sanchez's entourage forcing a move from City to sign him up now rather than in the summer.
According to reports (Di Mazrio) if he signs for City in this window he get £15m signing on bonus instead of £30m if he signs in the summer because City will have to pay a fee. I bet he wants that full £30m to sign now. He wants mega money IMO, that is his primary concern, if City don't give him what he wants he will sign for us.

I think we were, Sir Alex knew what to do differently and who he needed to do it. He'll have probably drilled that into RVP to get him to sign. Obviously, agree that it was nowhere near as obvious a choice as it is now, but still the better one for a player going into arguably his last big contract.

Too good to be true. Been saying for years this guy should be our number one target - born to be a United player. Will LOL at Citeh if they let this one slip.

Erm...Surely he's moving to City to get a PL winners medal since they're 99.999% guaranteed to win it. They've also got a much better chance of winning the CL than Arsenal...
