You have an interesting understanding of the word several. Also Carrick being given another year doesn't mean he's stating our games next season. It'd obvious we needed to have him replaced and used sparingly for a couple of seasons now.

Several. adjective
1. being more than two but fewer than many in number or kind.

Tuanzebe played three games in midfield at the end of last season. Why do you find it interesting that I would use the word several according to it's definition?

Also I agree on Carrick and would not have extended his contract. However Mourinho did so like it or not he will be playing for us next season.

I think we're just not going to get the kind of funding we enjoyed before and/or we're saving some for Griezmann in Jan/next summer. I suspect Jose would like to fix the LB situation too, but see sit as a lesser issue. We potentially have Pogba, Herrera, Fellaini, Tuanzebe, Pereira, Carrick, Blind and *sigh* Rooney who can fill in at CM if needed. personally, I'd prioritise this over a LW player as I think Martial can turn it around, but I suspect that our priorities were ST, CB, LW.

So they basically want around 80M£ for him. Ok. We'll pay that or around that. When they come calling for DDG next season, the starting price should be 120M£ or feck right off.

They have something we might need now and we're probably gonna get fleeced, but I hope what goes around comes around for them.

I really fecking hate Madrid. They have a bench warmer who wants to leave and they demand 90million Euros for him. This means that with the money they fleece us for they'll actually only end up spending around 50 million on Mbappe (minus our 90) and have a player who's likely to become the best in the world in his position within the next few years and get a good 10 years service out of him.

Never thought I would say this but the market for Morata is drying up, maybe we should let this one sit until late in the summer. I'd say there is 0 chance he will sit on Madrid's bench next season. 60m pounds is reasonable. He will eventually force his way out, or risk upsetting the squad and Zidane. We are in the position of power, unless Chelsea come back in for Morata and don't do Lukaku.

No. Somebody else will make up the Mbappe fee when they buy James Rodriguez.

I hear you. It's not the most pleasant club to deal with. We only have ourselfs to blame though. The last years of mediocrity have put us in bad position when it comes to player logistics. Other clubs know we are desperate to strengthen, and are asking premium price, which is not that difficult to understand.

For a player who has never been a starter his whole life and is 25 yrs old! Absolute joke if this is true. I'd rather us not sign the player than be robbed blind like this. Put in 100m bid for Sanchez or get Aubameyang instead.
I don't want to buy anyone who is going to scarper to the ACON every couple of years. Arsenal will not sell to another PL club, so Sanchez is out of the window. Morata has not had much of a chance at Madrid. Ronaldo and Benzema were always going to play and Perez would make sure Bale is always playing when fit. His presidency relies on his big buys playing. When Morata does play he does well. He will be good for us. We need more than him though. Even the other two would not have improved us last year as we didn't get enough from elsewhere.

I look forward to see what the actual price will be. 90m euro cant be remotely near the truth.

Media wants drama and unsurprisingly everyone took their bait. I doubt they actually know how many we bid and how many Madrid asks. Still remember most of the media claimed we paid £115 M. + Raiola's fee for Pogba last season. Turned out they knew shit.

Madrid just don't want to sell Morata because they know that he'll be great and they want to get all they can for him now.

The football romantic in me wants him to stay at Milan for the rest of his career but if it means warding off Reals interest in De Gea then romance is dead.

Not really sure why people are getting annoyed at Madrid. They hold all ththe cards.

Donnarumma to Madrid and De Gea becomes a United legend by seeing our his career here:drool:

If it was up to me we would sign one. I don't rate Fellaini and I think Carrick is finished. However Mourinho is clearly a fan of Fellaini and he recently gave Carrick a new contract. So I expect they will both play a reasonable amount next season. And Herrera and Pogba are two of our best players. Then there is Pereira returning from loan and Tuanzebe establishing himself. I think if Mourinho wants to play a midfield three we will sign someone but if he wants to play a midfield two then we won't.

Very good points.

Carrick and Fellaini really feel underwhelming. But if I sidetrack feelings, I can see the case for both from Jose's perspective. Fellaini is his dream loyal soldier who can give an arm for him in battle. Jose LOVES players like that. And in fairness, Fellaini was really getting better and better in actual play. He was immense in that Europa League final. But it is one thing to be up against Ajax, it is a totally differet ball game to be up against Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern or Juventus, which is what will happen in the CL. Also, we cannot afford to be 6th again in the premier league. Jose seems, as at this moment, to think that our problem was primarily goalscoring ad he is trying to address that directly.

About Carrick, his leadership, experience and United genes will still be very useful for at least one more season, especially in the dressing room, after all, Wayne Rooney might be leaving soon.

These are things Jose has always valued in his career well over flair and new big names.

If they want that for Morata, we want 500m plus Bale, Ronaldo, Modric, rights to change the name of the Bernabeau, complete control of the city of Madrid for the next 100 years and a ongoing fee of 50m per second while De Gea is on the pitch for them.
