This might sound weird to some of you lovebirds but his cuntishness is part of why I like him so much.

Vato; you are our official Real Madrid representative so I think that you and I can sort out this Ramos/de Gea deal between the two of us. I will be United's representative since no one else can be bothered. Then we can fax the deal to Perez and Woodward so that they can finalise it.

I propose a swap deal of Ramos for de Gea plus five free punches to Busquets' balls.

A 25 year old Ramos may be worth €90m(still being generous) but a 29 year old? €45m tops.

So you're telling me that Haaland never ended up having to retire in most because of that injury? He never recovered the same, It blatantly ended his career.
Yes, that's exactly what I am saying.

The numbers being bandied about are plain ridiculous. Even 35m is more than he's worth. Kinell.

Who agrees?

I don't, but as I said above I'm not a huge fan of Ramos. Losing DDG is a huge blow for us.

I guess it's still good in that we establish ourselves as being able to bargain, and widely it would be perceived as good business by us I think, but myself I'd be disappointed if things panned out like that.

I think any potential de Gea deal in which we take a player from Madrid that they also don't want to lose is pretty good to be honest.

I know where you are coming from as TECHNICALLY it didn't, but then again it did because he never recovered and his whole stance had changed because of it and mentally he was shot.
Not getting into this in this thread as it will just derail it mate.

Well then it's hardly Keane's fault he's a pussy. Anyway we're derailing the thread.

I don't even see how it would be good business. According to the rumours, we are actually prepared to pay extra money on top of giving them De Gea. It reminds me of the €43m+Eto'o for Ibrahimovic deal which was hilariously awful for Barcelona and funded Inter's Treble.

Add in a session of waterboarding for Jordy Alba and we're getting somewhere.

I sort of agree. I agree with your first point about him being pro-active, which is great as Smalling has shown that he is a monster of a covering defender who reads the game well and physically is extremely hard to conquer. And yes, I'd also prefer a defender of his type to Hummels - Otamendi or even Godin.

Schneiderlin is definitely not the most pro-active, which I think bodes well for him replacing Carrick who isn't either. I think with the arrival of Depay, you'll have a few attackers in him, Di Maria, Januzaj and Rooney who won't look to shirk responsiblity. Fellaini I just don't frankly rate anywhere other than in that wide #10 role. and going about putting in late challenges in CM (like against Sociedad) is not the gung-ho nature we require. But that's for another thread.

Guys like Carrick and Schneiderlin are deceptively pro-active though, they get involved with much of the ugly stuff that one needs to take care of to win the midfield battle.

We have seen time and time again that when Carrick is out, we look brittle and all at sea in the middle, he is the glue and he is a ball magnet both in terms of starting plays and intercepting possession. Schneiderlin is in that mould.

Someone like Blind is another who likes to get involved but his lack of athleticism means he cannot make the impact that we need, he lacks the ability to cover the pitch.

I've always been open on my opinions about signing players from other big clubs and certain types of players. I was dead against signing RVP under Fergie.

Well you got that one completely wrong!

Without RVP we wouldn't have got close to that last title

Not really, as GKs are never worth that much anyway, and De Gea only has a year on his contract. Ramos is widely regarded as one of the best CBs around, and given that they are currently in short supply, despite us adding money to the transfer, it would be perceived as good business, I'm sure of it.

Ill never accept that as the statement of fact it is so often represented as. It is quite possible, maybe even probable, but I think if Rooney had been up front for that whole season he would have done very well - as he did the season before. Kagawa would have had a baptism of fire but given the freedom to do the job he was actually bought to do, I think he may have fared better too. But this has been done to death and this is the wrong thread for it.

Refusing to believe this transfer will happen. My little heart wouldn't be able to take the rejection when he signs a new contract.

Woodward needs to stop embarrassing himself yet again with this story. He's either gonna pay way too much for him or just be used as leverage. Focus on players that actually wanna join us.

He wants 30 mil for DDG and he wants Ramos to come to us.
He's not embarrassing himself, quite the contrary.

and that 'players who wanna join us' stuff is tiresome.

It's very smart if he can pull it off, even if he can't playing hardball over De Gea sends a message.

Just as long as we have a rough deadline for this and keep an eye on other CB's in case Ramos decides to stay. I respect woody enough to assume he's doing just that. Still, I reall Cba to have this drag on and come mid july we still haven't signed a CB.

I'm sure Woodward has a plan B and Ramos isnt the only CB we're tracking. Of course if this drags on I expect us to sign Otamendi or some other CB, not to wait too long for Ramos situation to resolve itself.

So, the question, Caf, is whether Real Madrid are willing to wait one season for De Gea's contract to run out knowing that this would bring every other financially empowered club into competition for his signature/

They have that geographical advantage tho. I think theyd be reasonably confident they would get their man if they wait.

Nonetheless, it is a risk, and when it comes to building teams and getting a goalkeeper to last you 10 years, it's an unnecessary one, after all, there is always the chance that something could change within 12 months....... contract renewal, change of heart, different offers, etc.

Don't read too much into press stories. Most is pure fabrication.

No it's not, I want these type of players at the club, give me an Herrera, a player who genuinely seems to love playing for the club, over a Di Maria type of player any day of the week.

Perez is a lil kid he will collapse if you hardball him over DDG.

No way he can show his face if he didnt sign DDG this summer.

What is a Di Maria type of player lol ?

We can sell De Gea, probably get about €40m. Thing is, Ramos can just decide in an instant he wants to stay and that's that. Not much we can do.
