In the latest episode of the United Hour Podcast, Nik (@Rood) and Imran (@Annihilate Now!) are here to discuss three 1-1 draws.
The first got us knocked out of the FA Cup, the next puts us in a good position in our Round of 16 Europa League game, and the latest was an actual decent performance against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
All hopes for the season now rest on the Europa League - does Amorim have the squad to win it?
Fury
One of the great war movies that'll probably become a classic if not a cult favorite to the very least. The acting is top notch, and there's not much "I don't want to kill F3V4" cliche. Lerman was engrossing, pena and Shia is also bland (in a good way, no over masochistic) realistic.
Kinda mixed movie imo, it borrows alot from the inglorious bastards (the dinner table), saving private ryan (the one platoon against many) and the last 30 minutes is pure Ayer wartime realism (although IMO he overdone it to the point of being closer to Rambo IV) Another thing that irks me is that the other tanks seems to be utterly useless apart from Fury.
That's until the last 30 minutes where it becomes a bog standard cliche ramboism.
overall, very engrossing movie, I feel for the character and their fate, although I can see where it's heading from miles away.

Although, I agree though, the last part is too comical, if they make it a bit gritty and realistic it could have been a masterpiece. But you can't make a war movies these days without blood and thunder glory
Kind of like Saving private Ryan. Great movie but that last fight, although it looked good, ruined it, 15 or so Americans against a whole batallion, including a Tiger or two.
The tiger was ok imo, stylish tank fight. Although I'm not sure how it is in tankery, but it looks realistic enough with casualty being high.
I hope its not '5 Americans kill 200 Germans' kind of movie?
It was at the very end, although in fairness, they were in a tank and the Germans were on foot. Still got a bit silly at times though, but it didn't ruin the film for me.
Currently watching this, Nobby. I'm about an hour in and finding it absorbing thus far.

Where are all the expandables ? Who are these noob posers trying to be part of Stallone's team and look badass ? What is the point for them in this production ? Who wants to watch them, who gives a feck and where the hell Arnie left his mini gun ? Why Banderas act like a clown deployed on Mcdonald's birthday party ? Why there is such small amount of time for Wesley Snipes and his brilliance and just what exactly did Dolph Lundgren in this movie beside sitting on the plane and reacting to Snipes owning everyone with one liners ?

Thought fury was brilliant and can't wait to see it again, definitely up there with Saving Private Ryan as far as war films go, the acting was exceptional from everyone
I'm still thinking about it now! Guarantee you that there'll be professors of English, Philosophy, Psychology and Media writing about it for years; trying to come up with some reasoning behind each shot. That's the beauty of the piece really.... down to interpretation and how you experience the flick. Like I said before, I don't love it but I genuinely admire the vision and, most importantly of all, the courage to make the whole thing. But yeah, for me it's a very cold film.
I'd still watch Sexy Beast before it really.

The Taking Of Deborah Logan
The film follows a film crew who are making a film about an Alzheimer's patient but soon the patient starts acting increasingly erratic and it's clear there is more to her than the disease. When I switched this one on and saw that it is in 'found footage' style, I instantly thought "oh here we go another one of these shites" but it was actually excellent. It felt very claustrophobic and had some genuinely scary moments, not just of the supernatural but of alzheimer's disease also. They really tied it in well. Would recommend to horror fans for sure 7/10

I have just d/l'd this , it looks pretty good, the reviews I read called it an POV film.
On nights all next week and I have a ton of horror to watch.
Yes it is more POV, like they are filming a documentary. I thought it was decent. I hope you enjoy your horror-fest!

The Babadook - well, it's not really a horror film, at least not in the "Ah, nasty demon attacking us!" sense. Anybody expecting that, stay away. It's a different kind of horror. The film uses the conceit of a pervasive, malevolent demon to demonstrate the strains of single motherhood, loneliness and existential suffocation. As an 'academic' piece, it is rather good. Plenty of themes to cogitate on.
Obviously not that absorbing.
Blade Runner (rewatched) - couldn't stand this movie the first time I watched. Now, I realize that the problem wasn't to movie but it was to me. I went back at the movies I watched back in that month and pretty much I didn't like anything (I didn't liked even Seven Samurai ) so likely I wasn't in good spirits.
The movie is fantastic and one of the best sci-fi I have ever watched. It has aged well IMO, and the music is fantastic.

Was Decker a replicant, although he didn't knew it? If yes, then why he wasn't as powerful as other replicants we saw on the movie?

Yep Decker was a replicant although Harrsion Ford always thought he was a human(Still does). As for why he's not as powerful it's never answered, can only guess he's a more 'human' model than the others.
Which version did you watch? I think the final cut answers the question more or less clearly, even though the definite answer leads to a few inconsistencies in the film, which I don't like. I think there's a good chance, that Scott made it clear in the final cut to please all the scifi freaks out there who wanted him to be a replicant. As far as I know, Harrison Ford answered the question with a clear no 25 years ago, while Scott with the release of the final cut said it's a clear yes. I'm also pretty sure that the book doesn't want it to be answered, which is why I love that silly title so much. 'Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep' is such a wonderful question to describe that dilemma.
Well, I guess that it will be revealed on the sequel. Wasn't expecting it, but if you combine the unicorn dream sequence with the origami Gaff left near it's apartment, it becomes pretty clear.
I haven't actually got around to watching that, I am ashamed of myself... I think replacing the word Supernatural with Psychological would have helped the marketing campaign of Babadook.
Easily one of my favourite films. If you like Psychological Horrors at all you have to watch it. On the subject of trailers/marketing I watched the trailer for Repulsion the other day and I couldn't believe how bad it looks...you get a lot of funny trailers from back then but christ, they really butchered that one!
Never heard of Repulsion - looks like exactly what I'm looking for! Comparable to Rosemary's Baby?
A quick search tells you it was pretty well received on here and I prefer it to Rosemary's Baby myself...but yeah it definitely touches on similar themes.

Well.. what can I say, I know it's Keahnoooooo Rifttttttttttt, but hey... it's really good. Superbly done, and the universe they live in is worthy of many spins off. It's doesn't have a plot, just a pissed off man (who happens to be a baba yaga).
The shootout, the shoots in the club (and the music), it's very very good.
I'd give it a 8.5 / 10 for a solid action movie.
