Kind of like Saving private Ryan. Great movie but that last fight, although it looked good, ruined it, 15 or so Americans against a whole batallion, including a Tiger or two.5 sitting duck half drunk american. Yes. :drooling: bad ass mothefecka! oh yeah!
Although, I agree though, the last part is too comical, if they make it a bit gritty and realistic it could have been a masterpiece. But you can't make a war movies these days without blood and thunder glory

I hope its not '5 Americans kill 200 Germans' kind of movie?![]()
Come and See - Elim Klimov (1985)
Epic war film dealing with the Germans in Belarus during the second world war. Apparently the Germans pulled off quite a holocaust against the people of Belarus, destroying and slaughtering the people of over 600 villages. Klimov wrote the screenplay with Ales Adamovich who as a teenager fought with the Belarus partizans against the German occupation. It's about a youth and his experiences with the Partizans, and it's sort of divided into two halves, the first being a surreal treatment of the youth joining the partizans, and the second part concentrating on the German horrors. The scene of the Germans herding villagers into a church and throwing in hand grenades before torching it was one of the heaviest scenes I've ever seen on film. I guess this was a common modus operandi for the Germans in Belarus.
The film is an absolute masterpiece. Idiots like Paolo di Canio should be forced to watch this to see if they still want to flash their fascist bollocks to supporters.
9 1/2 cocks up
Amazing movie. The scenes with Scarlet Johansson and her victims (combined with that score) were mesmerising. I kept thinking about it for a couple of weeks after watching.
Class Film(Although I feel it loses something near the end when it moves toI'd still watch Sexy Beast before it really.
I have just d/l'd this , it looks pretty good, the reviews I read called it an POV film. The Taking Of Deborah Logan
The film follows a film crew who are making a film about an Alzheimer's patient but soon the patient starts acting increasingly erratic and it's clear there is more to her than the disease. When I switched this one on and saw that it is in 'found footage' style, I instantly thought "oh here we go another one of these shites" but it was actually excellent. It felt very claustrophobic and had some genuinely scary moments, not just of the supernatural but of alzheimer's disease also. They really tied it in well. Would recommend to horror fans for sure 7/10
Yes it is more POV, like they are filming a documentary. I thought it was decent. I hope you enjoy your horror-fest!I have just d/l'd this , it looks pretty good, the reviews I read called it an POV film.
On nights all next week and I have a ton of horror to watch.
I'm still thinking about it now! Guarantee you that there'll be professors of English, Philosophy, Psychology and Media writing about it for years; trying to come up with some reasoning behind each shot. That's the beauty of the piece really.... down to interpretation and how you experience the flick. Like I said before, I don't love it but I genuinely admire the vision and, most importantly of all, the courage to make the whole thing. But yeah, for me it's a very cold film.
Obviously not that absorbing.Currently watching this, Nobby. I'm about an hour in and finding it absorbing thus far.
Great recommendation.
Question (about the ending):
Was Decker a replicant, although he didn't knew it? If yes, then why he wasn't as powerful as other replicants we saw on the movie?
9/10
Which version did you watch? I think the final cut answers the question more or less clearly, even though the definite answer leads to a few inconsistencies in the film, which I don't like. I actually prefer the original ending.Blade Runner (rewatched) - couldn't stand this movie the first time I watched. Now, I realize that the problem wasn't to movie but it was to me. I went back at the movies I watched back in that month and pretty much I didn't like anything (I didn't liked even Seven Samurai) so likely I wasn't in good spirits.
The movie is fantastic and one of the best sci-fi I have ever watched. It has aged well IMO, and the music is fantastic.

Yep Decker was a replicant although Harrsion Ford always thought he was a human(Still does). As for why he's not as powerful it's never answered, can only guess he's a more 'human' model than the others.
Well, I guess that it will be revealed on the sequel. Wasn't expecting it, but if you combine the unicorn dream sequence with the origami Gaff left near it's apartment, it becomes pretty clear.Which version did you watch? I think there's a good chance, that Scott made it clear in the final cut to please all the scifi freaks out there who wanted him to be a replicant. As far as I know, Harrison Ford answered the question with a clear no 25 years ago, while Scott with the release of the final cut said it's a clear yes. I'm also pretty sure that the book doesn't want it to be answered, which is why I love that silly title so much. 'Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep' is such a wonderful question to describe that dilemma.
The Babadook
Been looking forward to this for a few years but was left quite disappointed. The film was pretty good, good story, great acting (especially the mother), good build of tension from a domestic and supernatural point of view and some excellent cinematography BUT the film just wasn't scary. I can see why this has got critical acclaim but to me it concentrated too much on the drama and not enough on the horror, which would be fine if they didn't market the film as a horror film. Also, the ending was flat and anti-climatic. Good first attempt and hopefully the director kicks on from here and makes some decent titles 6.5/10
TMNT
What a pile of shit. Wasn't funny enough, wasn't entertaining enough, the action was mediocre, Michelangelo was a pervert, Donatello was TOO dorky, Leonardo didn't feel like a leader and Raphael was just too moody without reason. They wasted William Fichtner, who is a great character actor but was just a generic evil suit. The comedy didn't work and the funniest bit (Batman joke) was in the trailer. I guess kids might like this but I definitely didn't. The soundtrack was ok 5/10
Left Behind
A film about a bunch of people who vanish from earth leaving behind others who try to figure out what is going on. Waaaay too pious and preachy for my liking. Seems like a direct to VHS, (yes VHS not even DVD) film. Plus points for having the great Nic Cage though 3/10
I haven't actually got around to watching that, I am ashamed of myself... I think replacing the word Supernatural with Psychological would have helped the marketing campaign of Babadook. What would you call something like Repulsion if not a horror film?
Ashamed to admit I haven't seen it, but I just watched Repulsion recently. That was very good.
Repulsion - loved it. A masterpiece. Knew I was in for a treat within minutes of watching it. Catherine Deneuve's utterly beautiful - well, as beautiful as a vulnerable, demented, mentally ill person can look - but her performance is even more mesmeric.
Repulsion 7/10. Polanski, b/w, claustrophobic and disturbing, extremelly minimalistic music, the movie is a bit slow but never boring, and Catherine Deneuve: not only good acting but she's also just so pretty.
I thought it was good. Not an easy watch granted. . . took me ages to get into it.
Watch Repulsion. A masterpiece on second viewing, but a difficult watch. . . unlike say Rosemary's Baby which was very accessible(IMO). Was joking don't watch it yet. . . see his other stuff first. Watch Failan and Ichi the Killer next, Salv. Both polar opposites. . . but equally as enjoyable.
another one added to my watch list.Never heard of Repulsion - looks like exactly what I'm looking for! Comparable to Rosemary's Baby?
Noir aesthetics are an aquired taste so once you learn to appreciate them you will appreciate the majesticness of films like BR.Blade Runner (rewatched) - couldn't stand this movie the first time I watched. You need to learn to appreciate the avant-garde.You give a 8.5/10 to a movie which 'doesn't have a plot'?
