Needs to be a thread for this. What are everyone's thoughts?

Every year seems to bring the same predictions, but they always ring true:
  • Ireland: last chance for some of the golden generation.
  • Italy: improving every year, but will probably come last.
  • Wales: poor in autumn internationals, but if they string a couple of wins together....
  • Scotland: could they be this year's dark horses?
  • England: massive strength in depth, so never write them off.
  • France: wooden spoon last year and only beaten Tonga since, so they'll probably win it.

I think the following are out: Dusuatoir, Fritz, Clerc, Parra, O'Brien, Reddan, Earls, Zebo (?), Ryan Jones, Ian Evans, Matthew Rees, Jenkins (?), Corbisiero (?), Tuilagi (?).

First weekend:
Wales v Italy Sat 14:30
France v England Sat 17:00
Ireland v Scotland Sun 15:00

If Wales string a couple of wins together? They've won 9 out of the last 10 6 Nations games and are going for 3 titles in a row. Stacks of experience and have the most settled side of all 6 along with the best coach. World class players in the key positions and it's probably up to Ireland to prevent Wales cleaning up again.

Looking forward to this one, it's quite unpredictable this year. Might back Ireland to win it as we're decent odds at 5/1, I think Wales will win it though.

Can't see past Wales winning it. We're just too damn good.

Not sure what you think was wrong with my statement. Until last year, Wales went about 25 tournaments either finishing behind England or taking the Grand Slam, suggesting momentum is a key factor. Justifiably favourites no doubt, but with Jenkins possibly out, Rees out, Jones not looking so comfortable with the new scrum laws, Ian Evans banned, and Bradley Davies injured, the front 5 may not be as strong as usual.

I would love to see us win it but we have a tough draw this year. Away to France and England is tough. Really tough.

Ireland have a mammoth task as Sparky said with England and France away. I think we could beat one of them but not both. It's hard to see past Wales and their winning mentality at the moment. Still with it being BODs last one maybe he can inspire something special in Paris like he did at the beginning. Would be brilliant to see him get a hattrick there to rap up what has been an amazing career.

Fancy England. They seem to be getting better under Lancaster every year. Lots of strength in depth as well.

Great game. Man I love the 6 nations.
It's a brilliant tournament and that was a fantastic game. England deserve credit for coming back but they should've finished that off given the way the tide had turned. Hopefully we can get off to the right start tomorrow, we should do at home against one of the poorer sides.

Can't wait to see how Schmidt's influence shows itself. It was interesting to hear O'Gara say he's never heard so much positive feedback from the players about a coach.

If that happened in the Premiership you have at least one person rolling around on the floor and a red card or two.

RTE making a big deal about O Driscoll's last stand, would be nice to finish off winning the six nations.

Jesus, O Gara on RTE...his voice is fecking boring

 His voice is of the Michael Owen variety all right. He's actually quite interesting to listen to though. Talking about O'Connell - "he's not a once in a generation player, he's a freak!"

God I would love us to thump the shit out of Scotland.

Toner is a fecking beast of a man

The Irish maul looked good there.

I hate when we play Scotland. I really do. This is going to be another close one.

Yeah it's not going to be easy. Our lineout and scrum is looking good, just need to keep the fecking ball.

Jaysus the Scotland player looks fecked, can barely walk off!

Foot in touch?

If not a great finish from Heaslip, great work from Sexy

That's some fecking maul we have there. Really powerful.

Too easy, really poor organisation from Scotland.

Great start to the six nations. And without O Connell and O Brien too.

Great win, it was quite comfortable in the end. I'd just like to say that stadium announcer fecking does my head in!

Grrr $120 to get the games in the usa. Tough to justify that.
Watched the Ire/Sco game on Be in Sports last night. My cable company, Cox, added it to their lineup recently so I get the rugby free. Check it out.
Not sure yet if they're showing them live but will look into it more.
