Zinedine Zidane - 3 time CL winning manager without a job

It's weird because he did win 3 champions leagues but I just don't know if he's a top manager to be put in the same bucket as Ferguson, Guardiola, Mourinho, Ancelotti etc. Arguably more decorated already but he only did it with one team going through a purple patch for the ages. Does anyone even know what his footballing philosophy is?

You can't put him in the same bucket as managers who've managed 3-5 times as many seasons as he did. But he is a good manager, his second stint at Real Madrid went reasonably well with a weaker squad. They won 1 league title and were 2 points from 1st in the other campaign, reached CL semis once.

His main strength is man management. As for winning the CL. He had a great team but the amount of luck they had was incredible. Something about Real Madrid and that competition.

Yeah this is the key point. You could argue that the threepeat was down to him taking over an all time great team with one of the best players of all time. But he came back and won the league without that player. He's clearly got something, even if it's more in the 'getting the best out of players/leader of men' bracket than it is him being a tactical genius or philosophical revolutionary, L O L.
