YouTube United channels

United Stand doesn't do much for me. I find Goldbridge an Alan Partridge type which can sometimes be funny but is usually grating. I don't feel he really has much insightful to say and the videos are way too long with a lot of repetition. His co-contributors are not especially interesting to listen to. Beth is probably the best; fairly knowledgeable about current day United, though not exactly a United history buff (but she is probably early 20s so hey). She's attractive, which definitely doesn't hurt.

Stretford Paddock is my favourite. Unpopular take but I really like Stephen Howson. Yeah he is sweary and toots his own horn a little but I generally find him to have some thought provoking things to say and it's clear he has connections at the club. Jay and Joe are decent guys. Joe's a dark horse in that occasionally he comes out with pearls of wisdom and knowledge but he often plays the quiet host type or the comedy sidekick role. I'm not a big fan of McKola... just don't really feel he says anything particularly useful/different.

Sam from United Peoples TV is decent but the format and his delivery can be quite dull. I like him though. Just think he needs to mix up his presentation and have more people on to interact with.

I dislike Webb and O'Neill or whatever they're called. Just sound like blokes up the pub. Opinions are basic, common sense (which is good I guess) but I don't really get any value from their content. They're a bit old school. Quite similar to listening to Paul Scholes as a pundit.

Haven't seen much from Flex. I've liked what I've seen though.

The Football Terrace United guy is alright but I find him really intense and serious. I'm probably pro content/insight rather than personality when it comes to United YouTube channels but this guy really needs to be more animated. What he says is generally ok. Bit like Peoples.

Overall, it's good we can watch all this stuff for free and there's decent variety on there. They usually produce so much content that it's hard to avoid a few duff videos here and there and the stuff can feel stale, especially in times where not much is happening with United.

Pretty good analysis from my times watching the occassional United video on YT. I like Stretford Paddock; it's the most well-rounded to me. But yeah, Mckola can get annoying with his aggressive personality.

I can't stand Howson.

I can't be doing with his aggressive, macho, bullying vibes that come across in a lot of his videos.

The United Stand is the most entertaining. Goldbridge is a ridiculous person whose clearly leaning into the Brent/Partridge to attract subs but it can get a bit boring watching one man in front of a green screen.

It's a shame we don't have an engaging United YouTube channel. Like, dare I say, AFTV. They either take themselves and football way too seriously or they are ridiculous caricatures. I guess it's the definition of a self-selecting group. The type of person whose willing to plough in hours and hours into a Youtube channel about football won't be naturally charismatic.

So the Kick Off, who have been mentioned a few times, are not a United channel, but they just did a video which focuses on United. Its always interesting to hear other teams fans talk about United.

Mckola can get annoying with his aggressive personality.

I find him much more reasonable when he's on there VS when he's on "The kick off", if someone says something he doesn't agree with he usually just shouts them down vs debating the point.

I don't enjoy listening to the majority of match commentary so usually have a stream running around the big games.

I think he's actually decent when he's calm and says a lot of things I agree with (and a lot I don't) I just think he has an anger management problem.

I just had a quick scan I was disappointed to find it's just "True Geordie" and Lawrence ( if Goldbridge is a wannabe Partridge this fella is a wannabe David Brent) reviewing but I'll check it out later.

Think they are at their best when they have McKola, Rory and even Buvey around to go over various topics because it's less of a circle jerk as TG and Lawrence are best friends and rarely disagree with each other strongly .

Lawrence is a pompous prick and it's good to see him get riled by Buvey in particular (who is great at winding him up because he's a troll).

I'd imagine they will have a full panel this weekend for the charity shield game and will probably be doing their season predictions.

Yeah I agree. I will say I cannot stand when both Buvey and McKola are on at the same time, cause it devolves into a shouting match.

In terms of Mckola, I like him better than most united fans in these types of shows (panels/podcasts with opposing fans). I hate it when there is a United fans in these shows who is embarrassed to be a United fan, who just sits there quietly when oppo fans are basically taking a shit about the club usually talking absolute nonsense and basically very agreeable to just appease them (examples like Scott (i think) from 90min football, Saeed another one of those shows). Mckola at least doesn't take that bs lying down even if sometimes he does go over the top.

And yeah, your opinion about Lawerence is pretty accurate and its basically unbearable to listen to when its just TG and him. Its basically them wanking each other off the whole time. And esp. when they are talking about United, its mostly just them taking the mickey out of anything related to United and not much actual discussion. That is basically their first instinct and understandable as they both they hate United more than any other club.

Big up Flex and KG from The United View

Love it how KG is star strucked from all the players and especially Bruno

funny that they have the two least knowledgable on football of their crew to discuss the new season.

They have provided great content all summer. Excited to see what they have in store for the season, Flex seems to have a clear plan on what he wants from the channel and has the experience and contacts to back it up.

wow I completely agree with everything you say here.. kudos man.

People that call Goldbridge a Forest fan clearly havent watched/listened to him at all. He's way too knowledgeable on United's past to be faking it.

Just saw a bit of Goldbridge's live from this morning where he blamed Murtough and Arnold for botching the Perisic deal in 2019 (both of whom, as far as I'm aware, had absolutely nothing to do with transfer negotiations then).

He then started to denigrate the Eriksen signing. "If it's such a good signing then why did no club other than Brentford want him?"

Why do people want to start their day with his incessant negativity?

Why do people want to start their day with his incessant negativity?

I watch him for entertainment when I'm washing dishes (because I don't have a vested interest he doesn't annoy me) but how anyone can listen to that first 2 minutes and not think he's negative and agenda driven is beyond me.

By 0:35 he's saying that the listener doesn't use their mind correctly when analysing why everything goes wrong at Manchester United and then illuminates the audience to the issue.

The issue is apparently that the people running the club don't care as much as the listener (or Mark) and therefore aren't doing their jobs properly , because If they were fans then everything would be sorted whereas the guys in charge are just specialists after a paycheck.

As far as I'm aware (I could be wrong though) the hierarchy of City/Liverpool aren't/weren't all fans of their club before arriving and they seem to be getting on alright?

Edit; He's ultra negative because he's hungover  Eriksen chat at 6:25.

The clown is now saying Klopp and Pep were backed more. Except Klopp got like 2 decent players in over the course of his first year, and built his team progressively. If anything we've done more than what Liverpool did.

He’s an absolute fecking moron. Klopp slowly built a team up. We’ve signed a Dutch league CB for 55m fecking quid and agreed a 70m plus 300k wage packet for his number one target. His entire we could have signed Antony for 15 quid 2 months ago bullshit needs to be put in its box. If you think about it logically for more than 15 seconds you’ll know it wasn’t possible but the dickhead keeps spouting it and then inevitably the sheep parrot it on here.

Look at the state of it

Am I right in saying he’s not even a United fan?

If you bothered listening to Goldbridge he has explained that his grandfather was a long time United supporter therefore he supports United. This nonsense about him being a Nottingham Forest fan was started by another fan channel. Probably jelaous of his success.

He's doubling down on it today

This is a man on holidays, I thought it was supposed to put you in a good mood!

Slight tangent from the point of the thread as I can't think of anywhere else to put it but thought this was a good listen. John Giles talking about Busby and that time period of United pre and post Munich.

Yeah the Antony idea is so stupid but yet he runs with it everyday. Also is happy for us to blow our budget then admits he was wrong to insist we did the same back in the summer of Maguire.

Great example of how to acknowledge your wrongs but do nothing about it.

Also he keeps saying how if Ten Hag wants Anthony then just pay the money and buy him because that's what the manager wants... Then bashes Arnold and Murtaugh for pursuing FdJ so much

Asks why did United wait for so long to pursue Anthony but doesn't acknowledge that it's obviously been increased due to the fact Ronaldo is demanding to leave.

Then at the at end of the 20 minute Anthony/A+M/ Glazers rant.. says that he believes that the deal will be done anyway

He's like Alex Jones chatting to his subscribers weaving conspiracy theory with narrative but it's great entertainment.

Mate, he has no clue. How is he saying the fans are in the wrong when a player is out right disrespecting the club, fans, players, coach?

He is the classic example of, back the manager pay the fee, then he will come out saying we over paid, Murtough doesnt know his job etc...

He is a very toxic person, which his followers lap around.

Yup

Who is backing the manager less right now than Ronaldo? He's literally asking to leave.

I really like to listen to Giles about things from this time period.

He seems like a really nice bloke.

Exactly, yet he is desperate for Ronaldo to leave.

This is why I dont rate him as a fan at all, he is agenda driven, which is why so many twitter fans are also agenda driven.

He says that "We don't need Ronaldo. Let him go....funny how people think they know better than the manager. Who desperately wants to keep him and build his team around him"

But then he is also the one who said:
"Ten Hag has confirmed Maguire as captain...told you. Ridiculous."

Then he was also on about how Ten Hag shouldn't give players a second chance.. what does he expect? United to sell 23 and buy 23 and keep the one player that wants to leave?

Goldbridge talks some absolute rubbish but from what I have seen on twitter he is desperate for Ronaldo to stay??

He was talking a quote of him talking 3rd person. It got me too at first.

I've been finding myself watching quite a lot of Goldbridge stuff lately and I don't get the hate on him. He can be repetitive and he does spout a lot of shit (on top of being a bit of a conspiracy peddler to boot), but he's entertaining and evidently a passionate United fan who wants the best for the club. I'm not buying the theory that he's a closet Forest fan at all. Just don't watch him if you don't like him or what he says, simple.

And it's not like he invented reactionary takes, either. They've always been there. Social media just exacerbates these takes by giving every man and his dog a platform.

I used to enjoy Full Time Devils old vids where they did vlogs about them going to away matches, there were Andy Tate and this kid (I forgot the name) that often go into matches together with them whilst also providing their opinions on things related to ManUnited. Its wholesome. None of the channel currently existing do that sort of thing anymore, its just stupid meme, low quality clickbait contents.

He’s getting a right kicking tonight on Twitter - even by his standards he’s talking absolute bollocks

I think he’s spot on?

The fee for Anthony at the end of may and in June wasn’t 100m. They don’t want/need to sell now this late in the window so have upped the price. If we didn’t realise this would happen then it’s worse than I feared, they are utterly clueless.

Then we sign him cheaper and Martinez rockets in price? It was always the case of picking one to sign and gritting our teeth for the other.
I guess Goldbridge will never talk about our club being taken advantage of in the market again after this but I won’t hold my breath. Hypocrite.

So our whole transfer life is about catering for others. When Barca just tried to get Kounde did Seville say…. Well considering you are coming to us now and not in May we want an extra €30m?

At the end of the day the transfer window is open from June to September. That means between that time at anytime you are likely to get offers for your players.

I’m sick of this concept that everything has to be done early just to confirm how good you are in the market. City are apparently the best.. why didn’t they sign Grealish in June last summer?

Have Sevilla sold 6 players equaling over 100m before they sold Kounde?

The timing doesn’t alway have to be early but in this case when a club is selling multiple players there will be a point where they don’t want to sell anymore.

Goldbridge is neither a United nor a Forest fan. He's a Ronaldo's fan. I guess he calls his wife Cristiano while in bed.
