Anyone heard about how Jami Pustinan is doing? I read somewhere that we signed this 16 year wonder kid from finland who is an incerdible goal scorer. Lots of other premiership clubs were after him too it seems but he and his family are United mad.
Finally got to see the Academy on MUTV for the first time this season.
For the U-19's they lost 3-1 at home to Man City. Phil Bardsley got the goal. For United, Neumayr looked good on the ball and you can see why we signed him although he never players that well. Danny Bryne, who has never been one of my favourites, looked very good. However, we were quite poor really, although we were missing Johnson, Jones, Richardson, Eagles and Eckersley as they have been playing in the reserves.
For the U-17's, they won 2-1. Frazier Campbell got one of the goals and I think Phil Marsh got the other. Marsh looked the star in midfield. Aaron Burns and Frazier Campbell both looked very quick up front. Both yonug skinny black lads with lots of pace and very raw. I don't think we will see them playing any higher than the U-19's this season.

Reserves lose to Man Utd
A youthful Liverpool Reserves side went down 1-0 to Manchester United who found the breakthrough 15 minutes from time, in front of a crowd of 4,830 at Chester's Deva Stadium.
Substitute Daniel Nardiello managed to find a way past the outstanding Chris Kirkland but the goal came two minutes after Liverpool almost scored, but Darren Potter was denied by Roy Carroll.
Chris Kirkland and John Welsh both featured for Liverpool as well as Darren Potter, who like the mentioned two were on the bench for the first team against Olimpija on Wednesday night. Potter did well for Liverpool in an unfamiliar role playing up front.
Potter was joined up front by under-19 left back Chris Butler, who switched back to a position he played in junior football. Butler batled hard but is not a natural striker. Reds reserve boss Hughie McAuley was desperately short of fire power and had no choice with his options really, with Steven Gillespie and Mark Smyth both injured and Florent Sinama-Pongolle was on first team duty last night.
Scottish winger Robbie Foy played on the left and had some good moments in the match but a lack of firepower and natural front players made things difficult for Liverpool.
Manchester United passed the ball well and could have won by more goals if it wasn't for the excellent Chris Kirkland. The Reds keeper made a great stop after nine minutes to deny Kieran Richardson from a quickly taken free-kick.
Captain John Welsh went close for the Reds second string a minute later but couldn't keep his shot down and the effort sailed over the bar after good set-up play by Potter.
Both defences were on top for Liverpool with Carl Medjani and Zak Whitbread excellent at centre half for the Reds. Liverpool had a great chance on the half hour mark. Brilliant work from Potter saw him intercept a pass and feed Robbie Foy, who then cut in from the left and fired in a fierce drive that was well struck but straight at Roy Carroll.
A minute before half time the Reds went close again. A superb incisive through ball from Chris Butler released Foy down the left who produced a low cross that was just about scrambled away by the United defence and cleared from the lurking Potter.
United were the stronger side in the second half and at times Liverpool struggled to make any real attacks and string passing moves together. Kirkland made a great save to keep out substitute Eddie Johnson's close range effort, then came two bad misses from the away side. David Bellion miscued a header from close range then Richardson sent a free header over the bar.
Kirkland held on well to a Bellion close range header before Liverpool went close after 59 minutes. Foy set off on a great run which took him past three defenders but was then caught in two minds whether to have an effort on goal or pass. In the end he passed to Potter who was quickly crowded out.
The turning point in the game came 17 minutes from time. First Liverpool's Butler did brilliantly down the left to burst his way into the penalty area. His lay-off found Michael Foley-Sheridan who missed his kick in front of goal and the rebound fell to Potter who saw his effort superbly kept out by Carroll.
Two minutes later United found the breakthrough after two substitutes combined. Phillip Pickens combined well with David Jones to give Daniel Nardiello a sight of goal and to be fair he finished superbly giving Kirkland no chances.
Jones almost added a second in stoppage time but Kirkland made another great save on the stretch.
All in all a disappointing night really for Liverpool but it was just that lack of a natural goal getter and someone to hold the ball up that just wasn't there tonight.

I have never seen Nardiello play but with all the goals i rekon Fergie will have to start bleeding him into the first team.

I also wish I can see him given a chance very soon. His scoring record in the reserve has been very outstanding for over 1 year now. With the current depth of the striker department in the 1st team, I think he should be given a chance to prove himself.

ONCE AND FOR ALL. NARDIELLO IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE FIRST TEAM AT UNITED.
He will end up going the same way as Nevland, Healy etc etc.

Exactly how many first team games for manchester united do you judge that on? You are probably right, most players dont make it, but seeing his excellant form so far this season he has earned the right to atleast see if hes good enough.

I've never had very high hopes for his United future, but his goals for the reserves this season, combined with Forlan's lack of ability as a striker, surely should force Sir Alex to give him a place on the bench. Why was Forlan given YET another chance today to prove that he simply isn't good enough?

United's Youth sides both gained relatively positive results over the weekend.
United's Under-19's ended a two game losing sequence on Saturday as they managed a 2-2 draw at Everton. Two goals from Neumayr were enough to ensure a share of the spoils for Brian McClair's side.
The Under-17's continued their rich vein of form with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Sheffield United. Goals came from Rose and a Puustinen brace.

David Jones has been brilliant in the reserves this season. I can't praise him highly enough.

United Reserves 2 Wolves reserves 0
United started with a front pairing of Nardiello and Bellion.
Midfield of Eagles, Jones, Richardson and the bloke who was recently on lone with Barry Fry at Peterborough.
Tate Lynch Pugh and Tierney made up the defence with Carrol in goal.
First half was largely forgettable. One chance for Wolves with Silas shooting wide after getting clean through.
And on the stroke of half time, the ever impressive Jones should have put United ahead after a great cross from Eagles was cut back to him on the edge of the area by Richardson. As it was, the ball just rose over the bar with the 'keeper beaten.
Bellion showed signs of good hold up play, and it would seem UNited's coaches are trying to improve this side of his game. At times he glides past people with ease, but holding it up and laying it off are just as important for a stiker no matter how fast they are in my opinion.
The second half saw Bellion taken off and Eddie Johnson brought on. United passed the ball much better this half. Johnson worked really hard chasing up front, and gave the midfield someone to pass the ball into feet to.

I would have thought they'd be playing at Leeds in the Carling Cup but alas... I was wrong.
Surely it we'll be returning to fringe and reserve players this season, though for the life of me I have no idea what defence we'll play if we choose not to risk any first teamers.

When Puustinen signed, they said he had scored 84 consecutive penalties at various levels, but last month he missed one for Finland against N.Ireland, although he made up for it by scoring a hat-trick- he sounds promisimg.

THE 17-year-old has had to endure the tiresome "new David Beckham" tag after signing from Watford's academy two years ago.
The right-sided midfielder is from the south, Hemel Hempstead, and has a lovely touch, excellent cross and is a terrific passer with a devastating shot but comparisons are always unfair.
He showed his credentials as a member of United's victorious FA Youth Cup team last year, even though he was from the younger end of the group of players Brian McClair had to pick from, he doesn't turn 18 until next month.
After impressing at that level, he took the step up to make his reserve team debut in May, and was awarded both a contract extension and the squad number 45 during the summer.
United have had to pay Watford an undisclosed amount of compensation for Eagles, although it was cleared by the sale of Danny Webber to the Hornets in July.

BURLY striker Johnson is another player United "snaffled" from someone else's academy, this time Dario Gradi's much-vaunted Crewe set-up, in the summer of 1999.
The 19-year-old was a key figure in the run to the Youth Cup final last season and scored the goal at Old Trafford that secured victory over Middlesbrough in the final.
That was a typical swift turn and thumping finish to ensure a 1-1 draw on the night and 3-1 victory on aggregate in front of a 15,000 crowd.
Johnson, who is from Chester, and is an England under-18 international, leads the line well and was also rewarded with a new contract in the summer.
He is an old-fashioned centre forward, leading the line with pace and aggression, but also has a neat touch.
DAVID JONES
THE Southport lad really caught the eye as he skippered United to Youth Cup triumph last season.
Tall and elegant, he was the fulcrum of the team, and made a formidable partnership with livewire Kieran Richardson.
United fans got a brief glimpse of him in the pre-season friendly at Stoke, where he appeared as a substitute.
Since moving up to reserve team level he has continued to impress, playing in the hole behind two strikers - he has already netted three goals from seven starts and two sub appearances, including two crackers at West Brom.
He is equally at home anchoring the midfield, where he keeps play ticking or as a more advanced player, where his sharpness of thought and passing ability can open defences.
He turns 19 next week.

If I had to guess I'd say it had something to do with the newish FIFA rule about players under 18 not being allowed to sign a pro contract outside their home country.
But he has a german passport through his mother and obviously EU citizens are treated as one state for employment purposes, so there should not be a problem(we signed a finn and a belgian recently, both 16).
