Your team for Leeds

I suppose so. I doubt many if any people here saw him except in the reserves match, but I suppose it's only natural for people to daydream the gaffer's latest unknown signing is unbeatable.

So they have confidence in throwing someone we don't actually know in the deep?

Why not? You have no confidence in Ferguson's latest buy I take it? i.e. no confidence in the manager?

I have plenty of faith in both, but I also believe in letting a player settle in right. Somehow I don't think a baptism of fire at Leeds is the right way.

People go on about how well Taibi started despite his debut being against Liverpool - but he cost us a goal ever there!

I wouldn't want any foreign player in a sensitive position to make his debut in a match like this.

i think dans he trying to say to throw Ricardo in at the deep end instead of bedding him in might not be wise. maybe Charlton at home to start with :)

I dunno about that. I don't think he'll start btw. But if any player shouldn't worry about whom he faces for his debut it should be a keeper. Taibi is an anomaly who we shouldn't remember at all ;)

forlan start <img src="graemlins/angel.gif" border="0" alt="[Angel]" />

The team I'd like to see is

Barthez
G.Neville
O'Shea
Rio
Silvestre
Forlan
Beckham
Butt
Giggs
Ole
RVN

But it won't be, as G.Neville isn't fit enough - tho in theory, he could at least start.

Or Forlan on the left instead of Giggs, and Veron in centre mid.

No, they look like they are thinking.

I am reliable informed Dans has pictures of him shagging a sheep.

I have, but I think that it is still a bit too soon to put him on, especially in such an important match!

As you can see, I opted for Barthez, but in a month or two I might not. Barthez has got to perform well in the coming months, or he will be out! Serious, because this guy Ricardo is a very good keeper!

Provided Gary is fit that's our best team - end of story. Fergie won't go for it because he'll want to play one upfront in order to somehow beef up the midfield, furthering his notion that such a formation makes us "harder to beat", never mind the fact that it tends to nullify the attack somewhat. He'll also persist with Blanc for as long as possible.</strong><hr></blockquote>

As far as I'm concerned, Veron has played like shit for the most part of his time at OT. But, it's now or never for him. O'Shea has proved to be reliable. And that's what you expect from a CB more than anything else. Giggs has to play because he does what no one other than Chadwick can do. Beat opponents.

_________ Bartez _______________
_ Ferdinand __ Blanc __ O'Shea _
G. Neville ___ Butt ___ Silvetre
___ Beckham ___ Chipper ______
Forlan ___________________ Giggs
___________ RVN ______________

I'd hope for some effective work by Forlan as a mirror of Giggs. This leaves OGS to come on to add to the attack, if needed. If he and RVN start, then we have no bench. Unfortunately, I'd like to have Yorke in Forlans place. But, SAF did like him. So that's that.

Being a true fan for long time of the "President" as they call Blanc in France and having followed him right from his Montpellier days (with Eric), I have to say that I would personally prefer O Shea. He made two mistakes on Wednesday and is often slow against even the "lesser rated strikers like Roberts (WBA). Its OK in a league game where we have an opportunity to make up in the next few. But come the CL, errors like this could be fatal. O SHEA has proved and the time Fergie tested him out with RIO against Parma showed how well this comb will work.
Blanc is a useful squad player who can help to groom the new generation. But he should not be playing all games, especially against the teams with a pacey striker.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Can you fault Blanc in any of the CL matches last season? I think you would find he is more vunerable in PL matches.

I think there is no better way to solidify the back 4 then to have a steady unit, especially at CB. Too much juggling of personal is suicide.

I don't think this fat, dull thing can score a goal... <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> :p

Assuming that your argument is that players need a run, why not do the same for Ruud and Ole?

Deep down, that's what I think is really causing their poor form right now. Ole needs a run of games which he hasn't gotten and Ruud needs Ole playing as a second striker for a run of games (and not for Ole to be playing as a midfielder when he does get a match).

The backline has been decent in the last few games and conceded goals with personal errors by Carroll and Beckham... leave it alone for now and focus on the actual problems.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Barthez is struggling with a hip injury and he could be very busy against Leeds. Sar Alex seems to have installed Ricardo ahead of Carroll in the pecking order, so i'd rather have him instead of Fabien, but if Carroll was to play i'd be happy with that

Is he? he DID, but I doubt he IS. Sir Alex wouldn't have played Carroll and then brought another keeper only to play a not 100% fit Barthez for two successive matches.
