Your favourite musical period and why?

i see - too old to appreciate the seminal 90s stuff ;)

I have a vast amount of music on my Ipod and NAS, and both fully hooked up to my HiFi and car stereo. I have 50+ tracks from most of the 90s bands listed in this thread.

Good music is timeless, and that will be the true test of many of those 90s bands. I am sure Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers and a few other will stand the test of time but most of them will be forgotten.

BTW - i suppose that is a barometer to my age and affection I have for music. I originally had 1000+ vinyl albums, which were replaced my 500+ CDs, which in turn have now been replaced with about 8000 MP3s.

I totally agree - but I probably think a lot more acts from that period will stadn the test of time - especailly some of the hiphop and electronic stuff which were from genres that were just crossing over from underground to mainstream in the early 90s - their influence on music today and probably in the future is only just being recognised.

it certainly wasn't this one

Right now. There's never been more music or a greater variety of it, and it's never been easier to get. Even most of the weird underground stuff is just two clicks away (if you get there before all 50 copies are sold, and if you don't, you can download it).
I'll go with this. And judging by the way pillory so easily refuted the arguments against his opinion, it may be more than an opinion.
