Sterling———Kane————Salah
(Hazard)......(Aguero).........(Ozil)

———Pogba————De Bruyne
......(Eriksen).............(Silva)
—————Fernandinho
..................(Matic)

Alonso—Azpi—Otamendi—Walker
(Davies)..(Alder)..(Verton)..(Valencia)

——————De Gea
...............(Ederson)

Missed the cut notables:
- Sanchez
- Firmino
- Martial
- Dembelé
- Kanté

Ederson

Walker
Otamendi
Stones
Delph

Fernandinho
Silva
De Bruyne

Sterling
Sane
Aguero

No Christensen?

As a starter, I’d say no. As a backup I guess he could be in for Alderweirld considering how often he’s been injured but when he’s played he’s by far the best centre back in the league so had to include him.

 I can see that happen, no midfield steel. Football 101.

But it is on paper, the team of the season.
You're not wrong there! Notable (but understandable) lack of United players unfortunately...

De Gea

Walker
Otamendi
Vertonghen
Alonso

De Bruyne
Fernandinho
Silva

Salah
Kane
Firmino

De Gea
Valencia Otamendi Tarkowski Azpilicueta
Fernandinho
De Bruyne --- Eriksen
Salah --------------------------------- Silva
Kane

4-3-3

Subs: Ederson, Sanchez, Maguire, Pogba, Dembele, Sterling, Martial

I know most will disagree with Jones but I've not watched as much PL this season and despite his recent brainfarts Jones has had a strong season IMO.

-------Hazard-----Kane-----Salah-------
----------DeBruyne---Silva---------------
----------------Fernandinho--------------
Alonso-Christensen--Azpilicueta-Walker
--------------------DDG------------------

4-4-1-1 formation.

De Gea.
Walker, Christensen, Vertonghen, Alonso.
Salah, De Bruyne, Erikssen, Sterling.
Firmino.
Kane.

That team would be vulnerable, but probably play some beautiful football. Yet again Aguero misses out :P poor fella.

De Gea

Jones - Otamendi - Azpilicueta

De Bruyne - D. Silva

Salah ------------------------- Sterling

Kane - Agüero - Firmino

De Gea

Walker Otamendi Vertonghen Alonso

Silva Fernandinho De Bruyne

Salah Kane Sterling

Honestly, I don't think that any position is up to debate, if we don't go with fancy formations (like having Kane and Aguero in the same team, or forgetting that you also need midfielders and defenders).

DDG

Walker Otamendi Vertonghen Azpilicueta
Fernandinho
Salah De Bruyne SIlva
Aguero Kane

Totally unbalanced first eleven, but they're the standout players.
Sterling---Kane---Salah

D. Silva---Fernandinho---De Bruyne---Eriksen

Alonso---Otamendi---Azpilicueta

De Gea

Subs: Aguero, Sane, Walker, Christensen, Mee, Maguire, Pope.

De Gea, Walker, Otamendi, Azpilicueta, Fernandinho, Silva, De Bruyne, Sane, Sterling, Salah, Kane

I'm not claiming I've seen enough of other teams but given City's dominance so far, my sole input would be that having Walker, Otamendi, Fernandinho, KdB and Silva is an absolute must. And probably a place for Sterling, too, alongside the obvious Salah, Kane duo. Though reading through the thread now that's pretty much a redundant post from me.

De Gea

Walker Christensen Otamendi Alonso

De Bruyne Fernandinho Silva

Salah Kane Sterling

Alernates: Ederson, Valencia, Jones, Azpilicueta, Davies, Pogba, Doucore, Eriksen, Hazard, Aguero, Sane
Not sure how Vertonghen is getting in teams when he's pretty poor quite often. Seems to always get by on reputation. We've had the best defence in the league but it's tough to think of too many standout performances bar De Gea - Jones walked into the side until his last two games.

City were always going to dominate - World class players all over that side. Walker still being among the most underrated players in the world.

What the actual feck?! Hahahaha.

He's been one of Spurs best players for the past three years and is in the form of his life. There hasn't been a single CB in the league better than him this season.

Christensen and Otamendi better than Vertonghen? Oh please. You shouldn't make comments about players you clearly don't watch. If you'd seen any of Spurs games this season particularly against the likes of Juventus, Madrid, Dortmund, United, Arsenal, Liverpool or any other games this season you'd know he's world class. I can't remember the last time I've read such an inaccurate observation about a player.

That's literally like saying Kane gets by on reputation. That's how highly Vertonghen has been performing for spurs the past few years. He's been a key part of the best defence in the league for 3 seasons. Consistency.

Many players have gone through bad spells like Pogba is doing now, but hard to include him regardless. Eriksen was crap for a good month or two, but that’s the difference, nobody gives a shit about Spurs. If Pogba plays poorly, it’s all over the news - if Eriksen is poor he plays the next game without any pressure.

De Gea, KDB, Salah and Kane are the obvious candidates, the rest can be disputed. Right now none of our outfield players are anywhere near a team of the year, which is a shame in itself when we are 2nd in the league. Solid, solid team - although woefully unspectacular most of the times.

Eriksen has been brilliant for three seasons now and is the guy who makes Spurs tick. He was also signed for 10 million and would now go for what Countinho went for if he was ever sold.

Pogba was a world record fee and hasn't justified the hype. That's why people talk about Pogba. He hasn't delivered consistently for United like Eriksen does for Spurs.

People picking Silva over Dembele, smh.

Salah, Kane, Sterling/Sane, Eriksen, De Bruyne and Dembele would be the front six. Defense probably Alonso, Vertonghen, two others and De Gea.

I know Pogbas improved on last year, but team of the season!?
I’d Rather have Dembelé.

Started just 14 games.

Recent form plays big role in these selections. 1 month back, most would have selected Pogba with barely any mentions of Eriksen and Dembele.

Davies Otamendi Vertonghen Walker

----------------Ederson------------------------

Something like that.

He has been our best defender for the last 2 years and imo is probably one of the very best defenders in Europe.

Vertonghen's barely been better than Sanchez let alone been Spurs' best player. Against Liverpool? Did you just miss his dreadful "tackle" on Salah's last minute goal? Basically the only defending he had to do in that half. Shocking.

Overrated player. Always has been.

That is a load of nonsense - he is the best defender in the league for me and is Spurs best defender. Take it from somebody who has watched every single Spurs match he has ever played in - he is our leader at the back.

City with DDG in goal and Vertonghen instead of Stones.

Oh and maybe Dembele somewhere on midfield.

Ah and perhaps Salah instead of Sterling.

I think Alderweireld reached a higher peak last year but definitely agree that he's been your rock at the back the last few years and consistently amongst the best defenders in the PL.

No right or wrong answer. Comes down to personal preference so want to see where others stand with their players/teams as well.

I chose Pogba because despite him being played in his off position which clearly does not suit him on United, he’s still so vital he makes or breaks the games. Which is crazy considering he’s not even at an advantageous position to begin with but has that much quality to be relied on that much. And the statistics don’t lie either...numbers wise, he’s right up there alone or with the best in terms of completed passes and such.
