I didn't say that we start with the keeper. It's just one of the many positions that needs strengthening. Why are you putting words in my mouth? I'd like to see other positions come in as well. I just mentioned De Gea because I'm seeing he's in most people's teams and I think that him as our #1 is a huge problem in our squad and has been for a very long time...

Yes, I think Dalot, Lamptey, Laird, Williams would be decent RB coverage for next year. We can't replace the entire squad in one summer. Now I would like to see your suggestions instead of just the usual criticism and whining.

I've tried to be as realistic as possible with the number of new signings but unless we go for players on a free or relatively cheap, I doubt we are making those signings.

Laird and Williams maybe but Dalot must go, nowhere near good enough for us even as back up. Swap and cash for the Inter Milan right back maybe? Failing that try and sign the current Ajax right back who is available on a free transfer.

We should be getting 40m for AVB and Dalot which can then be used to purchase a new right back if we can't sign Mazraoui on a free. Bailey and Henderson should bring in another 50m as well which would help to off set the required outlay this summer.

maguire is the new fellaini - will draw an emotional reaction from the guys who said moyes/ole should manage in the championship until he leaves the club, regardless of whether his form turns around or not. when he plays well peope will say they don't want to 'play that kind of football' and post videos of maguire heading the ball with his eyes closed or something

Dalot just turned 23, you don't think there is any chance he could improve next year under Ten Hag? Not worth keeping him for one more year? Should we sell both our right backs in one window?

We are not going to replace the entire squad this summer, so if we brought in Lamptey for Wan-Bissaka we could evaluate Dalot next season and decide whether he stays or goes next year.

Lamptey is only 21, from England, has established himself as a regular in the Premier League, lightning quick and looks like an interesting option to me at an affordable price.

Denzel Dumfries is good, but Lamptey seems to have a higher ceiling. If we could somehow bring in both and get good money for AWB & Dalot I wouldn't mind.

Apparently Noussair Mazraoui has pretty much signed for Bayern, so he is not an option.

I'd be happy with Lamptey and Laird. I have no faith in Dalot and as you said he is 23, well past the potential stage for a full back I think.

The poor quality of our full backs has been a significant contributing factor in how bad we have been this season and particularly lately.

I hope we do sign someone like Lamptey for a decent price. We really need to.

Why do you need 3 RB? I am not saying the ones we have are good enough, but you don't maintain RB on paper. We have funding for 3-4 new players only, make it 5 if Henderson leaves. Priority has to be striker, MF, CB, with a bit of luck we might get an extra MF, or a RB. We can probably do without 2nd LW, since Sancho can play on the left, plus Bruno / VDB can play forward.

Get decent MF, CB and striker, then we have a stable structure. Among the 4 wingbacks, I will keep Shaw since he can still contribute when he is fit and not overweight. Between Telles and Dalot I would keep Dalot, who can play on either side. Telles looks more like a B grade winger who has no discipline on defending. AWB is the opposite of Telles, can't deliver any cross at all. They are the fruits of our scouts.

This would be similar to my list, but probably De Gea out because he can't sweep a high line or pass and is on huge wages, and probably Pellistri or Amad instead of Martial, though realistically we're not going to shift all the big wage players we want. If so I'd add Maguire to the out list and sign a 2nd CB.

Also maybe McTominay out for Garner since I do think a team in the Prem that needs a CM would give us a shockingly decent fee for McTominay.

Ten Hag preferring a 7M 5'9 CB in Lisando Martinez and Timber to Botman, who has a lot of the same strengths (aerial duels) and weaknesses (moving) as Maguire makes me think he's doomed here. He's only going to get slower.

I suppose. on the other hand he plays Blind at CB (did this week and last) so doesn't need pace. Played de ligt before who is tall. At Ajax he seems to make do, and the league is generally very easy so that is probably fine. I think maguire is our best defender on the ball and that he will find a place again. ETH might not value defenders who are good in the air (maguire is top 3 in the league defensively) but he might have to learn to do exactly that given the league in question

The maximum amount of players bought in will depend on the price of player. Obvious i know, but what i mean is we shouldnt be chasing 80 mill+ players as we need quantity as well as quality. Surely if other teams lower in the league can find good young players around the 50 mill or less mark we should be able to find them as well. Imo we need a rb cb dcm rw as a bare minimum. Hopefully we can promote from within as well. If TH can get 6 players, including promoted players as a minimum and then repeat in summer 2023 he will have a good core
Everyone has done lists and its a guessing game anyhow, out of contract players apart and my list would be similar to most on here.

So I'm looking at needing a minimum of 7 new signings this summer :nervous: (wildly unrealistic)

GK - Hopefully we're selling Henderson to get some money in but at a minimum he's going out on loan which means we either have Heaton as number 2 or we bring someone in. Relying on Heaton seems risky

RB - Only one of AWB and Dalot can stay and even that is as a backup so need a new starting RB

CB - Bailly and Jones out, new starting CB needed to play alongside hopefully Varane

LB - not happy not addressing this position but it's probably one of the least pressing positions as long as Shaw can remain fit

CM - 2 new starting CM's needed to replace Pogba and Matic who are leaving on a free

RW/LW/CF - a lot depends on what happens with Greenwood. We may need to make piece with Martial being back involved as well but assuming Greenwood goes then a new wide attacker is needed plus a CF

2 years ago we spent all summer chasing Sancho for the right wing, gave up and bought Diallo and Pellistri as right wing prospects/future/fan appeasement.

Last year made a huge song and dance of signing Sancho for the right wing

This year..... We still need a right wing
