Yann M'vila or Jack Rodwell

I would prefer a creative, playmaking central midfielder ahead of these two.

I can't pick between the two because I have not seen M'vila play and I have not been impressed with Rodwell the few times I've seen him.

Rodwell. Premiership proven, high potential and English.

Why is this important?

Always good to have an english backbone in the side - they're used to the weather, the pace and physicality of the PL and and are less likely to piss of to Spain at the first sign of a move.

United have always had a british core and its served them well while the Arsenal's of the world mince around in their snoods and gloves.

Regardless of what people say, the old adage is generally true and I'd rather have an English spine in the team on a cold tuesday night away at Stoke.

I cannot understand the amount of people who think Rodwell would walk into our team and improve it. He struggles to command a starting spot for Everton.

He may have potential, and I was a huge fan of his in 2009, but I am not sure that he has made any progress since then. I would not be excited if we signed him.

I have not seen enough of M'Vila to make any judgment.

The only reason he's stuggling is because of his injuries mate...

Whenever he's fit he is used and rotate as any other player we have at United. Can't see the struggling part as you described it.

He hasn't made progress again due to his injuries, if he was fit he'd probably be playing 80% of Everton's matches... And that is just an assumption.

Spot on

Give me M'Vila.A full international after only one season with the pros.Should have gone to the WC too. He's better player than Rodwell, he keeps his passing simple and has got great defensive awareness. However Rodwell is not the same sort of player, they would form a duo.

Rodwell is defensively minded as well, you cannot base a midfield duo on two defensive midfielders unless you are Benitez.

He'd also bring with him the squad benefits of being a "home grown" player.

Re the OP

I'd like to see the price tags before making my mind up. money no option i'd take Rodwell.

I'm curious to know why you think 20 year old Rodwell is a better shout for long term, while your short term option is 20 year old M/Villa.

If M'Villa is a better player now, what makes you think he'll not be a better player going forward? :wenger:

Naturally I didn't realise he was 20, thought he was late 20's myself. Bloody Brazilians. Waiting for it...
