To some Americans the US ARE the world.

Can you blame us when people are writing things like this in your press? What did you think when you read it? Did you cringe? The trouble with the article is it writen from a very typically US perspective - we are the best and everyone else is inferior to us. That is why people are anti-american.

He's quite sucessful in the men's rounders that is popular over here. It's some kind of sport that was derived from cricket after they couldn't find enough places to put advert breaks <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

Given your press' overwhelmingly postive opinion of us, do you expect us to compliment you 24/7?
But seriously, he is an idiot, who knows nothing about football. Why fecking pay any attention to him. He doesn't speak for all Americans, so don't blame us. He speaks for himself, and he is a useless moron. Just fecking relax.

to be honest he doesn't speak for ANY u.s. residents, or virtually none, such is the paucity of awareness of football over here. he obviously wrote the article as a wind-up, perhaps to show his editors that his job is worth saving.

The awareness is what it is. I don't criticize our awareness of the sport, for we play the sports we want to play, not what others want us to.

from mr. dure (heh) regarding his substance abuse:
"That's your sole comment? Awww, that's so disappointing! I've heard such
creative abuse today from all parts of the world.
I guess the answer would be: No. I barely drink, let alone use dangerous drugs."
