Xbox Arcade

...

Get Fifa instead.

(Not going into all that but..)

For cheap games just log onto ebay or something at like midnight, always good games for for cheaper than anywhere else you can get them.

Don't be silly! My missus said the same thing to me in the shop earlier, I think I made my position on the subject clear enough there after

But yes, there's a shop in the City Centre that does cheaper games, and I'll give Ebay a go too. I ordered Forza 2 online, new, for £12 so pretty happy with that

Good job. Got Viva Pinata + Forza 2 for £8 delivered in the double pack, and Condemned 1+2 for £4 for both! Got bored with them, and traded them in for £23ish, money off of Fifa in other words. Good old ebay!

The arcade pack doesn't do the job at all

There are a number of fantastic original games, retro games, remakes etc. on the XLA and more over there a lot of updates (added missions, more features etc.) with necessitates an HDD for the majority of the games that you will buy for instance my last Burnout Paradise update = 400 + mo , and of course you need a HDD for the demos.

It turns out the memory card they give you has more than ample space to save games on, for my needs anyway

You mean game saves surely?

I have no clue how large a downloadable XB360 game is or how large they can get, but WipEout HD for example (only PSN) is almost 1GB before it's uncompressed and installed. Although I must admit it's an exception rather than the rule. Even so, Super Stardust HD wasn't small either.

Well, demo's vary. From say 750MB to 1.9GB (atleast they are the fewest and highest I have seen)

Save games as in save my progress during a Pro Evo season. I have no intention of downloading games to hard drives. I'm sure that will entirely replace CD held games at some point, but not this generation of consoles. I needed a machine to play Pro Evo and a few select other games on, and I now have it

Microsoft has released an official statement stating that the New Xbox Experience will require 128MB of free space (a hard drive is recommended to "take advantage of some new features"). The company also said that "a small percentage of Xbox 360 owners do not have enough memory to accommodate the update" and will be "offering storage solutions to the Xbox LIVE community."

Details are promised in the coming weeks, so for now we're left to wonder how Microsoft plans to provide solutions other than the current option of purchasing a memory card or hard drive. Full statement after the break.

It doesn't matter if he has no desire to update...

With an arcade he'd never of had enough memory to get his console up to date any how..

Yeah I know, but since live has come out there have been countless up dates, and the one he bought probably was not up to date as it was...

Yes, but they have gone and changed the whole user interface, which now cannot be stored it seems in the flash memory internal to the machine.

Probably not a problem now, as they give 256MB cards out, but even still, it seems that the update takes half of that in full.

It's totally retarded.

Ah I see, I didn't know how the previous updates were stored.

Yes it is a bit silly. Its also silly in this day to still be retailing arcades tbh...

Yes, that's the problem I think, the original arcades only had a 64MB card option, so those with that will either have to buy a new card/hard drive, or they are going to offer an online solution.

Server often go down on live, Tiger Woods was freezing 360 all day today, I'm blaming Fifa for this mind and destroying EA server...

They have to do something though, otherwise, they will have a fair few customers rather angry they have paid for live but can't use it...
