XBox 360 games to look forward to in 2008.

You're joking right?

FFX looked 10x better and that was released 7 years ago for the PS2.

Indeed. Shows how far ahead of it's time FFX was in terms of graphics.

Upon further research into Fallout 3, it looks as if it is going to be absolutely immense. It is said to be the same size as Oblivion and it's going to have a similar lay out. Basically, it's Oblivion set in 2277 which may well turn out to be revolutionary.

Fallout 3 looks immense. Bethesda are superb developers it must be said.

And agreed about FFX.

Fanbitches.

Agreed about Fallout though, lucky for me I've never played 2 the whole way through, so maybe I'll go back to that soon. I loved the first!

I've never actually played a Fallout game but I'll certianly be picking up 3.

You have to play the first two, they are classics not to be missed.

And lambs why do you hate FFX so much:confused:

Who says I do? In fact I have 3 and 6 on cartridge and 7, 9 and crystal chronicles on disc right here.

They have yet to match 7 for emotion let alone get up to the giddy heights of 6 as a game, but still a top series!

Guessing you're not a fan of 8 then?

And I have never played FF1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6, although I'll be getting 1 & 2 for the PSP soon, along with Crisis Core.

And I may take your advice on Fallout, althout MGS4 is getting all the gaming time at the minute, it's fecking amazing!

Guessing you're not a fan of 8 then?

Yes and no, I borrowed it but never owned it.

It was a let down compared to 7, but much better than a lot of RPG's on other systems still.

WHAT???

fecking hell, you've missed some of the greatest RPG's of all time. Don't tell me you've never played Chronotrigger or Secret of Mana either???

Final Fantasy 6 was and still is the utter height of the series.

And I may take your advice on Fallout, althout MGS4 is getting all the gaming time at the minute, it's fecking amazing!

I'll tackle MSG4 when the hype has died down. In the mean time, I suggest you get Fallout and tell me if you manage to drag yourself away from that!

To be fair it was always going to take a gargantuan effort to beat 7, the best RPG I have ever played. Sephiroth was fecking amazing. The translation in the game was horrible though, which made following the story (Bearing in mind I was 8 when I first played it) that much harder.

Are they downloadable for PC? If so I may download them when I get back of holiday, people have always gone on about FF6, you have convinced me to give it a go.

And no I have never played Chronotrigger or Secret of Mana. Did you ever play Vagrant Story? That was another great game by Squaresoft, kept me occupied for hours it did.

The hype will never die down my friend! I'll download Fallout 1 and 2 tonight and give them a go.

True.

Get snes roms of the games I have mentioned, then say goodbye to any spare time you have.

You cannot go around calling MSG4 one of the best games ever, without playing the real best games ever!

In other words, you have much to learn young one. I suggest a good snes emulator and shitloads of hours to spare.

Play them and then tell me if you even remember the name of what'sitcalled4.

Of course it was true. I always speak sense:D

I have actually got a snes emulator, was playing Super Metroid and Zelda: A Link to the Past the other month. Both great games!

You have not yet experienced MGS4 lambs, believe me, you'll love it.

Maybe I'll have a late night and give them a go. Any good sites to download snes emulators? A lot of them I go on are protected by some group (ESA I think) and so I can't download a lot of the games.

Play them and then tell me if you even remember the name of what'sitcalled4.

You're lucky I like you;)

Although to add, 7 had a fecking shit ending in the sense of you don't actually get to beat the final boss.

That bit was lame.

Remind me again because I don't think I have completed the game since around 2000, have played it since then but trying to max out every character does take its time!

Although I do remeber you had to beat 3 forms right?

Of course it was true. I always speak sense:D

Apart from the shit ending.

I have actually got a snes emulator, was playing Super Metroid and Zelda: A Link to the Past the other month. Both great games!

I have both here fully boxed. The copy of zelda has a completion on it with only 1 save, one fecking save (the game counts). That took me ~19 hours.

You have not yet experienced MGS4 lambs, believe me, you'll love it.

I've no doubt I will, I love them sort of games. Well, beneath the Splinter Cell series anyone, but since the latest SC was dumbed down in the latest next gen craze or spasticating games for shit players, I've good hopes for MGS4.

I don't, no. I've already got roms of all the snes games I could find somewhere, if I manage to find them I'll upload them for you, in the meantime keep looking!

You're lucky I like you;)

I feel privileged.

Apart from the shit ending.

It was poor. Perhaps the remake will rectify that.

You ought to be proud:D

You won't be left disappointed. The scene at the end of Act 3 is amazing, and Act 4 any true MGS fan will love.

I don't, no. I've already got roms of all the snes games I could find somewhere, if I manage to find them I'll upload them for you, in the meantime keep looking!

Well what a useless cnut you are.

Only joking. I'll see if I can find any torrents then, perhaps some-one has packed a load of snes roms together for download.

I feel privileged.[/quote]

You ought to, not many get into my good books.

Final Fantasy 6 was and still is the utter height of the series.

Having just completed that recently, i'd say that's not really far from the truth. I prefer 7 and maybe even 9 but if i'd played 6 as soon as it was released, then it'd probably be my favourite RPG of all time. The fact that i enjoyed the game immensely this long after it's release says it all for me. And what a soundtrack it has!

Guessing you're not a fan of 8 then?

And I have never played FF1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6, although I'll be getting 1 & 2 for the PSP soon, along with Crisis Core.

For me, 8 was a fantastic game, but perhaps a little easy barring 2 enemies. You could get ridiculously good very early on in the game.

Are they downloadable for PC? If so I may download them when I get back of holiday, people have always gone on about FF6, you have convinced me to give it a go.

I was recommended 6 on an GBA emulator by a kind soul on here. There are quite a few extras and it's not difficult to get hold of it.

Remind me again because I don't think I have completed the game since around 2000, have played it since then but trying to max out every character does take its time!

Aye, the first two were Bizarro and Safer and weren't too difficult in comparison with some of the Weapons you fought. The last battle couldn't actually be lost if i remember rightly.

The film or the game? Very silly thing to do mixing it.

Both. Also one freelancer programmer (seriously) is also very silly. So is pissing off an entire team of extremely creative and intelligent people. So is buying shit loads of equipment that is suited for high end video work while simultaneously ignoring programmer advice on suitable methods on low memory systems. So is mocking up real time videos and pretending to be actually playing it with a controller. So is buying a fecking stupid motion capture system with robotic arms, despite warnings that the data is garbled and would need a programmer and animator dedicated to unscrambling it, thus wasting time. So is trying to force a stupid fecking engine on people (Alc**my) despite the fact that said engine is made by people with no idea on console constraints or could even implement any kind of decent linked list to minimise memory usage << endl;

Phew, that feels better.

Better soundtrack than 7? What do you make of Tactics? Got that for the PSP it is fecking brilliant, and different to your average FF.

That is my gripe with it. The junctioning system just meant you could become ridicolously strong wayyyy to early in the game. Still, some excellent FMV's in that and the Triple Triad game was excellent.

Cheers, I'll have a look around for that later on.

Oh yeah the last you just used Omnislash (What a limit break that was!). The weapons were brilliant, beating the Emerald Weapon without KOTR was such an achievement for me, took me a while mind. Cloud, Cid and Barret must be the best 3some ever!

Were the early ones ever released outside of Japan?

I have 3 on Japanese cart, plus an English translation booklet. 6 was released in America, but as 3.

So technically I have two 3s, although one is actually six.

And yes esmufc07, it's not only the best FF soundtrack, but also one of the best game soundtracks of all time.

Well I'll look forward to hearing that.

MGS4 has a great soundtrack too, thought you may be interested too know;)

It's absolutely brilliant. I remember first seeing it running in Hamley's, alongside Megaman X. fecking awesome games those two are!

I remember going into the Arndale Centre and picking it up from Game. The box was massive. I loved everything about it. The exploration, the mood of the game and the combat was brilliant too. . .but best of all the feeling you got when you gained a new ability. FPS doesn't suit it at all. And I was gutted when I played Metroid Prime.

It sure is a great game Spoons, playing as a woman makes it all the more great IMO.

Sorry for derailing the thread mind:lol:

You're a bird, then?

I thought you were gay.

Eh?

I thought Samus Aran was brilliant, was a shock when she took her visor off at the end and we found out it was a woman.

OH, I thought you enjoyed it more because the protagonist was a bird. I think I've got my wires crossed. I was about to pounce on you and all.

I like the 3D versions, but not as true sequels. They should have been spin offs while a true next gen version was being made.

 Good shout.

It's difficult to say considering the memories i have of Final Fantasy 7 but what i will say is that there are literally only a handful of tracks on 6 that aren't either excellent or easy to listen to. I'm pretty sure Uematsu took a lot of his inspiration from FF6 when creating the soundtrack for 7. This is quite noticeable when listening to Aria De Mezzo Caraterre from 6 and then Aeris' theme from 7. Uematsu is actually such a diverse music composer it's almost frightening.
I've actually never played Tactics Advance, but i'll soon rectify that. I've been told great things about it.

Aye, you could actually get pretty much anything on the first disc if you could be bothered due to the card game and the fact that enemies level up as you do! The triple triad game was far better and also more rewarding than it's successor on 9.

Aye the weapons made it far more of a challenge. If you bothered to master Phoenix, Final Attack, and HP > MP, you couldn't actually die on FF7. It took me several playthroughs to realise what the point of HP > MP actually was!

Uematsu is also composing XIII, so hopefully the soundtrack will be good on that one too. Tactics is brilliant, and much tougher than other FF's.

Exactly, still a very good game though when all said and done. GF's were good aswell.

So that is what it was for! Never did figure that out, thought it was the most pointless materia ever! I had all my characters equipped with a Master Phoenix and Master Final Attack, and then I just bombarded Emerald Weapon with Demi attacks and limit breaks. Highwind, Catastrophe and Omnislash caused a ton of damage!

Fallout 3 is a bastardization of the first 2. Bethesda are just slapping the Fallout name into it to make more $. They are not catering to the fans at all, actually they are doing the exact opposite. The only thing that it will have in common with the previous 2 is that its going to be set in a post apocalyptic world.

Fans of the first 2 are for a big surprise, its basically Oblivion set in the Future. Although it wont stop it from being a great game in its own right and I will probably end up getting it, I still would have preferred a 2nd fallout sequel that follows its roots.

If anyone is interested in why there is a huge uproar from hardcore Fallout fans, here is an explanation from one of them. Its a pretty long read though. (First Post)

That's exactly the game i was hoping for but then again, i've never played the other 2 so i've no idea how good they were or what these people are pissed off about.
