exactly... I cant be arsed reading all that.. I want a quick fix to the situation... pros and cons people, time is money!

Simply because BR has won over HD DVD, 360 you need an add on to play HD DVD, which aren't going to be around for long anyway, 360's die constantly, and look childish.

infact I would go to say as much as most people do not buy them to watch movies, but to play games
I like the PS3 better because I have one.
Plus, my 8 month old Microsoft mouse went tits up last night so I don't have much confidence in their product. Everything SONY that I have had or known of someone having lasts for an eternity.

There was a survey not long back about why people bought the console MAINLY, alot of people answered for the BR, but they'd play games on it too...
It's the cheapest BR player around atm...

I prefer PS3 but I really can't be arsed to argue which is better. What do you want to use it for? Movies and games? Then the PS3 should be your choice.

i find the xbox is better if you wish to play any 360 games but i use my ps3 all the time to play ps3 games.

interesting. I've never liked Xbox controllers. the white and black buttons were always difficult for me to reach.
I agree that the PS controllers are a bit too small for caucasian hands.

Games mainly... through a home projector... have plenty of Sony kit and its never let me down so guess a PS3 is the answer
its up to you, I bought the rechargable battery pack, they last ages off a charge.
the 360 controller doesnt have the white and black buttons so everything is laid out really well this time
still fondly remember the first time using the triggers for accelarating on the first project gotham

Although their left stick is probably better positioned, I am used to the PS control layout anyway... aint changed much since PSX

How long does your projector last? You only get a few thousand hours a bulb don't you?
Would be annoying as I play quite alot of games and watch quite alot of movies. Plus, turning them on and off helps blow the bulb doesnt it?

both of them are excellent machines, ok the 360 has a ropey past with the hardware failures, but I have enjoyed every minute i have played mine.
Likewise with the PS3, it is an excellent machine, and some of the psn games are fantastically addictive (try pain, you'll lose hours before you know it)
then there is the final argument for the wii, not as powerful by a long shot, and running on alot of last gen tech, but it brings families together for playing again. Some cracking games on it too
i went for the easy option and bought all 3 so I have the best of everything

Projector bulbs last for years. But when they do go, may aswell just buy a new projector.

After sooo many debates on this issue i have come to the conclusion that the Xbox 360 is a better console than the PS3. The PS3 is a better media system.
So it all comes down to what you want out of a console. I would still get a 360.

All the best ps3 games are just starting to get released now, and PS Home is on its way later this year.
i have both, i always buy multiformat games on my xbox, tbh i only really use ps3 for the blu ray player.
It's not, on the hardware level the PS3 is.
Generally for graphics the consoles are on a par.
So, instead of asking here, head to gamespot or any other video-game reviewing site and research the games for both systems, then make your choice based on that.

Well for starters, if your not after a media console, then there is not point spending money on extras that you don't want.
The Xbox 360 still currently does have the best software. As you said, all the good software is "just coming". Its not out yet, and therefore no-one knows if it will be as good as expected.
Note the fact that i do believe that ultimately the PS3 will be the better console, as good software capable of fully harnessing the PS3 will be released.

I think i read some articles that stated that the PS3 graphics chip is a little better... but not many games (or none at the moment) take full advantage of it just yet, because the development is tricky. But i'm sure once the quality games start churning out, we'll see the difference. PS3 for the future imo.
It's not about the "PS3 graphics chip" (which is a poor term anyway), that is an incredibly simplified view.
The PS2 was never really pushed to it's limits, I can see similarities with the PS3. So, they will both be as close as dammit for the whole of their lifespan, barring exclusives that cater to each system's best qualities.
The PS3 GPU (RSX) is slightly weaker than the XB360 GPU (Xenos). I disagree with Redlambs regarding their closeness.

Graphics is more than simply pushing a scene to the screen (you know this). I think certain things we will see out of the PS3 in time will not be possible to do with the same quality on the XB360, and that will involve high levels of multiple dynamic lighting, blended animations, etc. things that the Cell will be able to do.
