Is a XBox 360 worth getting? I need some opinions before I blow my money.
whichever system you get Woody, you will enjoy. They both have their plus points. Theres a lot of negativity about the xbox for obvious reasons; RROD on the early systems and the fact its Microsoft produced. But as a gaming system it ticks all the boxes, cheap, good range of games and fun to play.
I currently have a Wii but the game selection sucks. I do need to purchase a new desktop for various reason - one of them gaming - but if I get a decent console I won't need to get as high end a desktop and thus the $ can be used on the console. 360 has the best games based on from reading and observing.
My only concern is the RROD. Are there any other M$ surprises that I need to worry about?
Yes, I own all 3 platforms and the 360 gets around 70% of my time id say.
It has its technical issues but it still undeniably has the biggest and most diverse games library. You have to pay for LIVE, but its service is top notch and online gaming is usually a blast.
The technical issues are still there, no hiding from it, but supposedely the failure rate's been reduced with the most recent models, and besides you live in Canada which for some reason manages to get their 360s repaired and sent back quicker than any other region on the planet, should such problems arise.
At Circuit City last weekend they were selling 20gb xbox360's with 2 controllers and one of the Lego games for $199. Don't know if it's a new bundle or just a short lived promo though.
Edit: It's not a Lego game, it's Sega Superstars. You can get the same bundle from Amazon but it only comes with one controller.

Can you get an HDMI cable for the Xbox pro's or does HDMI only work with Elite?

When I got my 360 I bought the middle bundle at the time, don't remember what it was called but it was below the elite and It's hooked up with an HDMI cable

Assassins creed is a great game.
A Pro is the Premium, the one that is not Arcade and not Elite.
The crazy thing is, they are basically charging you for P2P gaming, I could understand it if they had dedicated servers. What else does a Gold account give you that a Silver account does not?
XBOX Live is not P2P
I wouldnt work to have a multiplayer session P2P because of the probability of the host quitting the session.
I hate to disappoint you, but gaming on XBox LIVE IS P2P.
