Saw someone the other day say that Christian Romero is a poor man's Sergio Ramos, what other players are just budget versions of another?

Xavier was a poor man’s Yavier

Foden is a poor man's Stoichkov

TAA is an impoverished man’s Beckham

Carragher was a poor man's Richard Dunne.

7 own goals vs. 10.

thiago poor mans xavi
neymar poor mans dinho
bale/jese/rashford poor mans cristiano
stones poor mans beckenbauer
jota poor mans suarez
salah poor mans messi
ibrahimovic poor mans van basten

mind you, some of those "poor mans" are WC:D

Mehdi Taremi always struck me as a Poundshop Kane at Porto.

Lisandro Martinez is a poor mans Vidic,
Hojlund is a poor mans Kane
Anthony is a poor mans Robben

I thought this was a trans thread.

I reckon the comparisons work best when the poor man's version doesn't play for one of the mega-rich clubs.

Oleksandr Lingr is a poor man's Guus Til who is a poor man's Van de Beek who is a poor man's Klaassen who is a poor man's Thomas Muller.

Gakpo is a poor man's Robben.

Weghorst is a poor man's Van Nistelrooy.

In this situation i think it just means that Bergkamp was a better player and not that Cantona was poor.

I don't think he was. Bergkamp was probably more graceful but only because Cantona had power and aggression which reduced the view of how graceful he was.

Bergkamp played prettier football, but Cantona was a leader, could carry a team and would drive his teams forward. Bergkamp was a luxury player.
