WSL fantasy league | GW15 deadline 2/3/25

The App/database does take a while to settle but I thought I had given it enough time. Then McCabe suddenly went from -1 point to +3, Zebra went from a 35-all draw to an outright victory, and we were not sued by @top1whoisman.

GW13 will be interesting for FF, with Arsenal v City.

Edit: Tooney v Boujee will be televised live on TNT (k.o. 20.45 on Sunday)

It's that time of the week again and transfer and formation deadlines are now around 24 hours away. I think the noon kickoff means the deadline is 11:00am UK - but hopefully someone in the UK can confirm what the app is telling them.

City v Arsenal is one to note, with a high potential to cause confusion to some managers using a lot of their players. A goalless draw would suit us, but would it suit your FF team?

She's certainly in Arsenal kit now but I didn't have her in my squad so can't answer the original question. She's been playing so little that I'm not sure how many people would have her really.

Bunny Shaw is close to returning, but whether we'll see her tomorrow I don't know, maybe as a sub?

My other big don't know is over Katie McCabe. There was a report on Forbes.com (and much repeated by fan accounts on Twitter) saying she's suspended for the City game, but she missed a game midweek (Bristol in the WFA Cup) due to suspension. Anyone know if she's back tomorrow?

At least not instantly as she won’t play against Man City?

Yep, she misses this one and the WSL Cup SF.

@AmarilloMike seemed to be wondering if anyone had her in their squad prior to the move - but I doubt many people would still have her given how little she was playing and her relatively high price.

Will be interesting to see how Arsenal use her, they’ve got a lot of good options.

MD13 deadline fast approaching.

I still don't know for sure if McCabe is suspended but at some point you just have to act. Or don't.

Good luck either way.

Hi all - I'll let the App settle before doing The Demon Cup Draw. Obviously I had a good week, but I had Bronze and McCabe in my starting XI, neither of whom played ... the App has substituted in Holmgaard who scored +1 (fair enough) but also Symonds who scored -2 ((that's minus 2!) I have Cato on the bench who scored 10. I'm fuming.

A mysterious new option has appeared in the app - a thing called "clean slate" that allows you one of boost to make unlimited transfers. It talks about it only lasting for a week, but I'm not sure if they mean that after a week your squad reverts to your current one.

I only mention it because I would have loved that option last week  And yes, I know we had open transfers only a couple of weeks ago. Still - I wanted to get rid of all my City and Arsenal defenders and my Spurs players for this matchday. Instead I ended up with 1.3m sitting in my transfer kitty and the indignity of having two players subbed on by the app. The subs scored -1 between them.

Well, as the team in second place, I wholeheartedly support the decision to not have that option last week!
As a double plus, very happy my captain Teri came good and got on the scoresheet :)

It's getting tight at the top, there's no doubt about that and my form hasn't been great. I think we're both relying on points from our United players though and it's almost inevitable that'll cost us at some point. Teams that aren't quite so dependant on Phallon might be smiling at some point.

We do all have a week off to rest and recover now before planning again. Not that it seems to help me to actually do anything useful - though I guess it might help some people

The Demon Cup

GW13 - Quarter Finals Results

Little moo's
59 v 59 Skinner's Rotation
Dot's Stars 28 v 36 Maya's Troopers
Zebra United 32 v 62 Flexo's FFs
Tooney Town
47 v 45 Boujee Tea FC

Well, what an exciting round of matches! Okay, FFF did a job on Zebra, and Maya's Troopers outclassed Dot's Stars, but Tooney Town grabbed a 99th minute winner to edge out Boujee Tea FC and book their place in the semis.

The highlight of the round, though, was the match at Moo's Sports Village - the home side triumphant against Skinner's Rotation after a thrilling penalty shootout. Little moo's victory was sealed by captain Maya Le Tissier (16pts) after Skinner's captain, Ella Toone (6pts) hit the bar.

Oh the thrill of the cup. Jumpers for goalposts etc.

The draw for the semi-finals will be posted shortly.

Well done to all.

I'll somewhat smugly and briefly write a summary of the GW13 results.

There were big scores for TheDemonBarbers (should have been more. Still fuming), FFF, Little moo's and Skinner's Rotation. Hearty congratulations to those four. Especially me!
Mmm, isn't it? Mmm
That made me chuckle.

Grrr ... I messed up before finishing the gameweek summary.

So, a few in the 40s, some in the 30s, but high-flying They Simi Rollin' had a stinker. Skinner's Rotation, TheDemonBarbers and Little moo's continue their charge up the table to put pressure on the big boys at the top.

We are moments away from the draw for the semi-finals ...

Oh my ... just realised the huge significance of the semi-final draw.

Does Competitive Dad come out to play?

I’n fuming too. Losing on penalties after such a strong performance. Thought the keeper of Little Moo’s moved off the line early a couple of times, but I’ll be the bigger person and concede. ;) A good cup run regardless.

On her behalf, she didn’t think she moved and she fully respects the officials judgement :)

This weekend's matches:

With United kicking off at noon, I think that means this weekend's transfer and formation deadline is 11:00 UK. At any rate it's Sunday morning - so plenty of time, but don't leave it too late.

I need to keep pressure on the front runners, but it's a lottery who to change. My starting XI are all good (if they play) and all are at home against 'weaker' opposition.

Shaw or Miedema? Are they both fit? If they are, will they both start? Russo and Ramirez are due to score a hatfull soon. Bronze has not scored many points for me recently, so surely she is due a good week. Decisions, decisions.

The Demon Cup semi-finals as well!

Tooney Town v Maya's Troopers
Competitive Dad v Little moo's

I’ve managed to bring in Shaw, think she will be fit and fired up. Sticking with Terland too, she should be well in with a chance for a goal or two on Sunday.
And I will crush my daughter, I’m sure…

I don't know much about players coming back from injury etc - but it does look like Bunny Shaw is now fit to start.

Also a piece of random noise or key strategic planning news. This weekend runs as normal but the next game week GW15 will have some teams who will have a double game week and some who will have no match in GW16. If you're the kind of strategic planner who has a clue what to do with that info, maybe it'll affect your master plan this week - in which case, I'm not sure whether to wish you luck or just to look confused.

But anyway, I feel I've done my fact sharing duty now.

Very interesting, especially as GW15 is scheduled to be The Demon Cup Final. As GW16 is also affected then perhaps the final should be GW17. Thoughts?

I think I will get too confused with some teams playing twice in a week - I’d vote for GW17 - of course, might not even get there…!

Definitely not going to be my day today. My United and Chelsea defenders have been my saviours a few times this season. Without the cleansheet points my team's way off the pace.

I even benched Ramirez because I wasn't expecting her to start and sold Clinton because of her form and not expecting her to start.

Flexo's team look like they're firing though. Great forward line.

Lucky that Terland came good today, I have been hoping for that for a few weeks now. Russo got one, and I am hoping Shaw gets a consolation goal against the scousers tonight!

GW14 - Semi-final Results

Tooney Town 54 v 58 Maya's Troopers
Flexo's F Femmes
68 v 35 Little moo's

In a closely contested game at Amarillo Park, underdogs Maya's Troopers edged out hot favourites Tooney Town. Some might say that the result was a little unfair, given that the Troopers triple-captained Ella Toone (15pts) against her home town. I say well done for keeping this bonus back for so long! It was this that made the difference.

The second semi-final was a one-sided affair at Demon Cottage with Flexo's Fantasy Femmes putting his daughter's Little Moo's to the sword 68-35. It was Captain Terland who, with a huge 26 points, almost beat the stunned opposition single-handedly. Ever gracious in victory, manager Rodriguez admitted that his Captain's performance was the highlight for him, before adding ...
Also, totally crushing Little Moo’s…

And so, for Tooney Town the dream of a League and Cup double is over, but for Flexo's Fantasy Femmes that dream is still very much alive.

The Demon Cup Final

Flexo's Fantasy Femmes v Maya's Troopers

The final will take place at The Red Cafe Fantasy Arena on GW15 on Sunday 2nd March. This is a change of date and remember it is a double GW for some teams.

Flexo is in great form. That forward line - CaptainTerland, Bunny Shaw, Alessia Russo - how's that for commitment to attack, attack, attack football.

As for Tooney Town - in honesty I was fortunate to get the points I did. Two of my starting lineup didn't play at all, but I got lucky - 15 of my 54 points came from the app autosubs.

Congrats to Maya's Troopers.

Commiserations to Little Moo - all the more so because I bet Big Moo isn't even trying to disguise the gloating.

It's getting tight at the top, with only four points separating Tooney Town from Flexo's Fantasy Femmes. This is what the league leaders' manager said before the season began:
I'm interested but I'll be rubbish at it

I think I'll be coming bottom of this mini-League.

Still, I will give it a go. Someone's got to be bottom of the League.
And he calls me a hustler!

Despite 15 of the league's teams scoring above average points, it was disappointing for those of us who had loaded our defences with United and Chelsea players. Still, very well done to Phallon d'Or with a very impressive 78 points, and to Scanny's XI who also hit the 70 mark.

There's an interesting development in the relegation battle, where Roboklopp94 has disappeared completely, meaning that United Army will stay up automatically.

Pick your double GW teams wisely, ladies and gentlemen, and the very best of luck.

Well, I haven’t really rubbed it in. I have awful phone connection at LSV, so only really found out on the way home that she couldn’t catch up, and she didn’t have any city players who could score enough points. We were too happy with the result to get too catty in the car!
I did go all in on the strikers for the last couple of weeks, haven’t really got any high scorers in midfield - that could be my weak point.
Looking forward to our trip to the Fantasy Arena, always a special day out I’ve heard!

What's the feeling on the Demon Cup final date?

Go ahead with using GW15, despite the extra complication of the double game week? If we jump past GW15 then by similar reasoning we'd need to skip GW16 as well, because of the missing matches problem.

Personally I'd say stick to business as usual and make the managers work for a living, but anyone feel differently?

I don’t mind working for a living, as long as my assistant can explain who is playing twice that week…

I'm fine with GW15 being the final, although I did give people the option to respond before GW14. Flexo was the only person to respond and was fine with GW17. But sod it ... GW15 is the Final.

Typical, change the date after I’ve booked the trains and hotel. Bloody Demon Barber, never thinking of the real fans. How many boxes have been sold to the sponsors eh??? Disgraceful…

You have a point. Unlike many owners/co-owners I will apologise, and reimburse any losses (without sacking any staff in order to offset the deficit)

If you could send your train and hotel receipts to @jojojo then I am sure things will be sorted amicably.
