WSL 24/25 | United v Villa - 6:45 Sun 10 Nov

Toone replaced by Williams. Clinton off for Awujo. Rivière good off injured, Mannion on.

For Villa - Hanson goes off and Leon comes on keeping their ex-United quota up.

Wonder what the odds are that she’ll score the winner and celebrate in front of Skinner.

I always want Miyazawa to be given her chance but when she does come on she hardly shines in this team. Not sure she will be at United next season.

Perhaps she should start then. It’s not like our current attacking players are shining either.

Skinner is not a very good manager, with a better manager and these players at his disposal, Utd could be a lot better.

Hmm, where have we heard that before?

We've started attacking. I guess that's progress.

Great tackle George to rescue us there.

+10 minutes added time to be played.

Another horrible performance. Wish the higher-ups actually paid attention, he’s taking us nowhere.

After 13 minutes of added time it's FT and 0-0

We're lucky to have got a point.

Has this team ever practiced together? (Gary Neville quote)

We have been the worse side in every game except West Ham and Liverpool (CUP) at home, maybe at Everton away it was 50-50.

Can we ask that Ten Hag takes over the womens team the rest of the season? I mean, not blaming everything on Skinner, but it would at least be interesting to see if anything would improve. This team and their new strategy for this season is going nowhere! Phallon is a slight improvement over Earps. But other than that it does not look good. On the the other we finished 5th last season, so maybe we are still at that level at least.

That was grim. Worse than the result was the abiding feeling that we were watching a team going nowhere and that the players are better than the team.

Nothing about Skinner suggests he can improve things and kicking the can down the road (the Ineos summer strategy) is hurting the players we've got.

Ten Hag? That sounds like out of the frying pan into the firey depths of hell. RvN would be fun, at least he looks like someone who likes being a manger

I can only echo what everyone else has said. The positive thing about that is we didn’t lose, because we very much deserved to.

The one thing I’d add: what happened to our pressing? We used to be one of the most front-foot, aggressive teams in the league off the ball, but we were so scared to press Villa and they found it so easy to play through us. I don’t think it’s a coincidence we looked we might do something when Williams and Geyse came on. They gave us a presence in attack that we didn’t have before then.

I was mostly thinking he is already on the pay roll so we dont need to fork out salary for another coach while cutting all over the club, haha. That said, Ten Hag and his english communication installed less faith in me than most coaches I ever heard speak. So we would have needed 10 dutch players to have a chance at it working :D

Maybe I’m just being stupid but I wouldn’t hate the idea! I still think ETH would’ve done a better job if he didn’t have to deal with a squad full of mentally weak prima donnas. With our women’s team, the biggest prima donna is probably Skinner!

Can't see INEOS doing that whilst we are within a few points of that third place, totally agree we should be showing more ambition though

The problem is that I do not see our squad competing with Arsenal, City or Chelsea either, regardless if Skinner is in charge or not.

Arsenal should have won against City and played even vs Chelsea. And they should have beat us 3-0 or 4-0. I´d say if Arsenal perform to their standards the rest of the season we will end up about 7-10 points after them when the season finishes. And I dont think a new coach can perform magic with this squad either. Our roster is overrated by many United fans IMO. Most of our starters would have trouble getting into ARS, CITY & Chelseas lineups. It could be that INEOS realizes this and dont think its worth pulling the trigger on Skinner this season instead of getting the new coach before the summer.

What I do think we need to be prepared for is that getting into the top 3 and champions league will be extremely tough as the other top 3 teams has a head start on us and with Arsenal getting so much attendance they will be out of reach for us shortly as well. I just dont see what we are going to do about that. 3833 people came vs Aston Villa, its the lowest attendance since Leicester last season.

Fan favorites Earps & Zelem leaving + no more signings at games + this current football of death is threatening to stall our progress and let the top 3 escape from us even more on all levels.

That said, or players should be able to string along a couple of passes up the pitch even with Skinner on the bench :D

Yeah laughable isn't it

He gets so defensive. I understand it to an extent as most of the fanbase wants him out. It’s still not a good look starting almost like a battle against the fans or the media. That’s what his interview sounded like.

Even our captain owned up to the team being miles off it yesterday. But our manager rambles on about ”a new team”, ”learning”, ”a better second half” etc., and to top it all off another me, me, me rant.

How about being accountable, for once?

He can't stop himself. If only Arsenal or Chelsea or Lyon had taken him off our hands

I'd be more sympathetic to that view if we'd beaten Brighton and Villa or actually played well against anyone. Some players have played well against some teams and that's given us some wins.

We aren't getting better and we're in his fourth season now. I don't see any reason to think we will get better with him as manager. No matter how many players we buy and can't find a way to use.

True. We have gotten even worse this season with his new tactical changes. Or are we standing still while other teams are improving? I tend to think that with the top 3 at least. Nevertheless I stick to my guns to that this roster will not challenge for the the title, if we could finish comfortably in 4th or challenge Arsenal because they had a bad start that would be a good season. Judging on how poor we looked even getting 4th might be hard if Liverpool wakes up. Finishing 6th or so might be a good wake up call, if that should be needed.

Even with Skinner, this squad of players is good enough to be in contention for a CL place. That said, I watched us, Chelsea and City and they are miles ahead. Arsenal too, to a degree.

We seem like a collection of disparate parts, or desperate parts. It's time for change.

Arsenal are already benefiting from a change in manager - even in their case to an interim one who was already there. Sounds vaguely familiar
