WSL 24/25 | United v Leicester - 12:30 Sun 2 March

So that’s a free kick but a 100% similar situation in their box was not a penalty? Got it.

Just got to weather this storm. Leicester aren’t going to be able to keep up this intensity for the rest of the match and they’ve yet to have a clear chance. Just don’t make a stupid mistake and let them back into the game

All Leicester in the 2nd half, Momiki best player on the pitch. Scored a decent goal against the US this week too

Miyazawa on for Janssen. Whole team needs a bit of a wake-up. We're spending far too long in our own half, it's leaving Leicester far too comfortable.

United getting very sloppy now. Just as well we have a 2 goal cushion. Leicester’s high press should be leaving space behind but even when we don’t give the ball straight back to them we’re too tired to exploit it. Hopefully Geyse and Williams can make a difference

It's like they don't even care about my FF clean sheet points

Just such a flat second half from us. Slow and sloppy defensively. Disappointing. Maybe partly us running out of steam - mentally and physically - after the internationals. Except it's not just the ones who had s lot of minutes or did a lot of miles who are looking sluggish. Not good from us.

Looks like we're ending the half better than we started it though, which is something I guess.

FT and we win 2-0. I wanted to see a better performance in the second half but it'll do.

Asmita Ale the Leicester leftback made 10 tackles that game. Thats some work! 1 interception and 4 clearances on top

Momiki dominated the 2nd half and 17 year old Las had a very good cameo, has some speed and some decent decision making to cause some problems

Mace also won the ball well with 5 tackles, 3 interceptions and 3 clearances - her distribution is where I'm not so sure about her

Poor Melvine Malard in the after match interview on BBC. No tracksuit jacket and she was freezing, then a whole bunch of really long and really fast questions. I bet she regretted winning player of the match.

A common complaint about Skinner is that he uses too few subs and/or uses them too late. I often disagree, but not today. The only explanation I can think of for that sluggish and sloppy second half is that Leicester brought in a bunch of fresh legs and we didn't.

Decent first half, but really poor second half when we could’ve used it to really boost our goal difference. I think Leicester looked more likely to score in the second half, or they would if they had any decent finishers. PTJ wasn’t really troubled but everything she did was solid. Malard POTM for the first half.

Still, the most important thing is we win these next few fixtures and give ourselves the best chance of staying in the CL spots when it gets to the big 3 fixtures at the end of the season.

With the results on in from the other matches:
Brighton 2-2 Chelsea
Spurs 1-2 City
Arsenal 4-3 West Ham

Our performance today doesn't look that much out of step with our rivals.

For us, it was a good performance in the first half and a mentally/physically tired looking second half. Just a hangover from the international break. Maybe.

We're next in action next Saturday, against Sunderland in the WFA Cup. So a decent amount of time to recover now.

Like I think I said somewhere - the league and amount of competitions is toughening up to the degree that it will IMO be more important to be able to grind out wins than to coast and win the top head-to-heads in order to achieve top placements. This was a brilliant three points in that respect, tucked away before the break, and made sweeter by Chelsea slipping up (even if I think Arsenal and City is more relevant for us).

It's already been said, totally dominant first half, very sloppy in the second half, for whatever reasons. We only had three senior players on the bench, and they were the ones that Skinner used - eventually.

Still, a good victory, yet another clean sheet, we've improved our goal difference more than the other three, and hopefully we will have more players back for the next league game.

Malard perhaps rightly got POTM, but I thought Gabby George was outstanding. Her attacking intent is there and she showed great pace and timing defending against both Chossenotte and then Las. Her energy is incredible.

Phallon was dominant in the second half - no great saves to make, but she plucked crosses out of the air and even managed to punch clear whilst being fouled. Her save percentage must be at 90% now.

I'd like to add a shout-out to Ella Toone, who played numerous dangerous balls to Malard and earned one official assist and one hockey assist.
