WSL 24/25 | United v Crystal Palace - 12:00 Sun 16 Feb

Half time thoughts - we were in complete control until the Teri clobbering incident. Lost our way after that but got a bit back towards the end of the half. Absolutely no reason why we shouldn't wrap this up with a couple of second half goals for a 3-1 win.

Don't you think they can perform a lot better than this?
I think they've looked great except for a few minutes after the Terland injury. I suspect that CP made a tactical change during the break that took us a few minutes to adjust to. We just have to get the ball in the hole.

We’re really missing a creative spark in the final third. All we do currently is look for Terland and hoof it in the box.

We needed that! 2-1 and Terland with her second. A scuffed pass from Clinton followed up by a scuffed shot but I’ll take it!

Clinton hasn’t really come back into form since she was injured. Hope it’s just a temporary thing as she started the season so well.

Looked like their keeper was doing her best to take someone out again but fortunately she missed

A bit strange that we haven’t seen any one of Malard, Geyse or Williams come off the bench. Only 3 subs used by Skinner.

Fair enough. Perhaps I've got my rose tinted specs on, but I feel we can play the ball a bit quicker, we sometimes look a little pedestrian, and, like the men's team, we do seem to play the ball backwards a lot. I know that seems to be the way football is played now, but it bores the hell out of me.
As you may have twigged, I am getting on a bit, I remember football in the 1960's, so a bit old school, still, another three points .

Haha, no worries. I try to take a much more narrow perspective, focusing strictly on how the team is playing now -- especially since the winter break -- as compared to last season and earlier this season. I'm upbeat because I feel like I'm seeing a lot more quick passing, and a lot less back-passing, than previously. This broke down at times in the first half today as they often chose to play more direct, trying to get long balls behind the backs, but Skinner seems to have put an end to that at halftime. I hope that we'll continue to see the team develop in this positive direction over the next few weeks, and then I'm eager to see how we stack up against the "big three" in the final weeks.

All in all, a win is a win and onto the next one. Shame to concede, but attack has never been Palace's problem this season. Really happy for Terland, there was a point earlier in the season when I thought she might not find the scoring boots she has on last year.

It was an interesting game. Palace are better than their results and points suggest, and their dogged defence frustrated us.

The more I see of the Janssen/Miyazawa combo in midfield, the more I like. Such excellent players.

Yes, I understand what you mean.
I must say, we do look more like a team than other seasons, everyone seems to be on the same wavelength. What I wonder is that if this team can be really confident in themselves, perhaps take that odd risk going forward instead of the safe option most of the time, then we could actually challenge the top three. Oh, and put away the numerous chances we create almost every game.
All the best .
