WSL 24/25 | City v United - 6:45pm Sun 19 Jan

Badly need the half time break to just reset and breathe. Kick start the upper press again, get an early 4th and kill it off. City are there for the taking, but not if we invite them upon ourselves.

Frustrating to see us get pulled back like that. So much good work undone so quickly.

Need the half time break to regroup. The midfield and forwards have stopped pressing high and that’s how they had kept City on their back foot.

I guess you could argue they had nothing to lose at that point so the onslaught was always coming. Very noticeable that we got pushed back quite so thoroughly though - we really struggled to string a couple of passes together in our half and we did nothing to get out of our half.

Yeah. No team should be allowing Meidema to turn on the ball though. Close that down and you shut down most of their attacks.

Clinton on for Tooney, well deserved round of applause for Ella. Malard replaced Terland and Sandberg on for George earlier as well.

I have no idea what Skinner said to Toone when he subbed her, but if it was anything other than, "that was great, sorry we had to bring you off, but we need you Wednesday," then I'm not happy.

Probably something about how it was all him and his tactics that made her score those goals.

Good win. Was worried at HT cause City seemed to have all the momentum but City’s keeper’s brainfart 20 seconds into the 2nd half settled us back down

Lovely win. Delighted to see it and particularly delighted for Ella Toone. Great night's work, particularly from the forwards who chased every error.

The funny thing was just as we were kicking off the second half I was about to hit post on a comment - "next goal wins this".

Then Ella scored instantly and I deleted my typing - just seemed too risky to say anything

Get in!! What a rollercoaster of a game that was. Thank god we got a goal early in the second half otherwise I don’t think I would’ve been able to handle that second half. But we easily deserved the win. And Toone with a hat trick! So happy for her, she loves to steal the show in big games.

Yep, it was one of those that Toone really stepped up for - her intensity (well, the whole teams press) were vital to create those chances. Was tearing up listening to her post match interview, sounds like the break really has helped.

Super performance from the women today.
Bring on Wednesday.

Nice tribute for Geyse at the end too.

Really good performance - made a change to see the team pressing from the front in a big game

A real 6 pointer that pushes us above City in the table

What a fantastic result and a great team performance. I'll say something I don't normally say, but credit to Skinner for encouraging the team to get at them. Janssen and Miyazawa were phenomenal.

I'm happy for Toone - she was on a mission. Great blocks towards the end from Maya and Williams too. Galton did what Galton does - and still my favourite player.

The BBC kept harping on about City's "injury crisis" and that United were winning because City were playing poorly. Give me a break - we were good. We made them make mistakes.

More of the same on Wednesday, please.

Great result, Toone coming back bang in form and Terland a nightmare pressing City's keeper and backline

Tullis-Joyce such a calming influence.
The ladies worked so hard and for 80 minutes didn't give City an inch.
Just a drop off in the last 10 of the first half.
Great day great entertainment loved it still buzzing today.
Delighted for Ella. She's going to be a real force second half of the season.
