Writers Strike

AlwaysRedwood you have a PM. If you don't believe tough shit because its true.

Well then if the bickering is going to stop then i'm going to go to sleep.

For the record, I would back Ole with his initial statement as it was based purely on the ways in which the strike is affecting others within the industry. Baring, in mind he is involved in it then his opinion should at least have some credence. That being said there are obviously justifications, a fact tht Ole himself has pointed out.

Alwaysredwood, i'm sure you also have a good point to make and that you are indeed much more informed than any of us, however you have to realise there is a correct way to go about putting your opinion across. If you want anyone to listen then articulate your point (as a writer you should be good at this) rather than blurting insults at other people of whom you have no knowledge.

Anyway I don't really know anything about it, I just want good quality TV and Films.

Well, being a writer on strike, let me be the first to tell you to go feck yourself, you ignorant asshole. Most writers, like myself, are middle class. The rich are few and they make most of the money. This strike is about the little guys, like myself, who will not be able to make a living in 3-5 years if we accept the studios offer, which is to cut our pay by about 80%.

So before you go opening you vacant, little cnut of a brain and spouting your nonsense, why don't you try reading something about the subject of which you attempt to speak?

The average union grip makes more money per year than the average writer. But thanks for breaking down what the strike is about for other borderline monkeys, like yourself, to understand.
I'm not saying you shouldn't get more money if you're due it. I am saying that striking is bullshit as it effects more than just your wallet. What about production assistants? They make shit money as is, but because you want more, they're making nothing. Get off your high horse about being a "little guy" and realise that there are other little guys out there too who rely on the work to live.

Always Redwood, go on then I am waiting!

I'm not going to get into what show I was just employed by, it is irrelevant and drags the conversation down into how bad a show is and how good another is. It is irrelevant. It was a show on five days a week. It was a guild show. That's all one needs to know.

Many writers are pretty much done with trying to articulate the reality of the situation to people who hold such opinions. At this point in the strike it is a road that has been traveled many times. Insults work fine for me at this point, thanks.

So basically it is a crap show but you still want more money, the amount you have is more than enough I reckon, but what you really should be striking about is these so called Agents who take all the money just for introduction, doesn't this make more sense?

Yes. Last year I made 73,000. After taxes, union dues, agent fees, etc, I was left with 35,000. And I was head writer for a show during the last half of the year, so it's not like I'm struggling.

Fair dues for not letting yourselves be screwed over, but at least be prepared to accept responsibility for the grief it's causing to the real little people (i.e. not you)

"feck off" just isn't going to cut it, really. It's ignorance and it loses you any sympaphy you may have been due

and being left with 35,000 after expenses, doesn't count as "struggling to make a living" to anybody who resides in the real world
