He really isn’t very good. His lack of quality on the ball is blindingly obvious. The difference between him & Martial was stark. He does work very hard for the team, and deserves credit for that, but he’s massively out of his depth at a club like United.

Thought he was fine, considering. If his header had gone in it would probably be regarded as a decent CF performance.

He did ok, unlucky with the header. He wasnt quite as involved as in his last 2 games but that is possibly more about the way we played, Unlucky with his header, very close to a goal.
Its clear Martial is first choice but thats when he is fit which isnt very often. Glad we have this guy as a back up.

The whole team had problems in the first half. I think we miss Eriksen. That header was from a very dificult angle en he should have a penalty. The second half with the new subs was wat the team needed..

He's the type of striker that's going to need service. One great ball was put into the box for him by Casemiro. He should have scored that header. Apart from that, nothing else was created for him. Garnacho and Antony put nothing into the box. Neither did Shaw or AWB. His movement in and around the box has been quite good. He's been doing well holding the ball up, playing first touch lay-offs to the wingers, and pressing.

Being basically a panic loan option, he's been better than I thought he would be. He's not Martial and we shouldn't expect him to be that. He has other qualities. Playing as a #9 for United isn't easy when you get no service throughout most of the game.

I was watching the game and knew that some people would be ready to criticise. Weghorst, like Garnacho, Fred, Antony, didn't have his best game... we didn't play well, the subs made things a little better. That's all. Forest had a reserve side out and we were average.

So we single out Weghorst? He was unlucky with directing a slightly awkward header onto the post and he won a penalty, that's clear.

People are awaiting to knock him, while he has been doing an important job for us. I like what he brings to the team.. and how many games has he played for Manchester United, maybe all of five?

He's not Benzema, etc. But now our 'saviour' Martial is back, right?

I don't know what some fans want at times..this isn't PlayStation.

He was solid, some cant wait to spout their - he's not very good stuff.

He did fine. Annoying thing is we don't mix it up (or lack the quality ) to cross to him at certain points. Frustrating as our main chance in the first half came that way and it's a wasted opportunity seeing the players out wide cut back or drill it low.

Also a decent header attempt that hit the post (or as a commentator asked "did the keeper get a touch on that")

He did what he can. His lay offs are very good I think. But obviously he isn't one to carry the football.

Agree entirely. In his 4 or 5 games for united, he has received probably 2 or 3 decent passes/crosses in the box. Im fact apart from Casemiros ball last night I can't think of another one?

He is doing fine, I love his pressing/work rate, the non penalty call last night being a good example. He offers something different and provides good cover.

I like him.
He seems to be tactically used as a false 9 somewhat.

Drops all the way into deep midfield to help add another man and acts like a higher pivot, Wingers then push higher up and he makes a late run so Rashford and Bruno can make 1-2's.

Seems to be a player that is 100% a tactical choice

He is someone that will certainly benefit from having sancho as a 10, playing through balls that actually reach him would be a big improvement

Very limited player. Another major indictment on the quality of the bundesliga that he managed to flourish there. Bundesliga coefficiency rating needs to start dropping seriously.

He's a perfectly competent striker but not special in any way. Does a job to a standard you'd expect of someone filling in during a transitional period, but we do need better quality to get back to the top

Playing through balls to tall and very slow striker to run behind the defence was never a good idea.

I felt the criticisms he got in his earlier games were very harsh, as even though he wasn't a goal threat he was still playing his part in getting on the ball, holding possession and building-up. I've been fairly happy with everything that he's given us up until this match.

Today he was actually quite poor and barely got involved though.

He is what he is and he's doing fine on that basis. Ultimately it's very difficult for him not to be a success given how low stakes a deal this is.

Does a job and now that Martial is back (and hopefully stays back) he can start filling that role. Being subbed in as an extra tall guy when you need to force something. I would kind of like to see him play instead of martial with Sancho beside him instead of Antony. You were far more dynamic that way. Though I suppose that's also due to Martial being on instead of Wout.

I just want to see him score an important goal at OT making the crow exploit. He will tear up as he always does and you will all love him for ever :wenger:

He's like Fellaini but if he was playing upfront and with better touch. OK for now, but hope we don't buy him.

Seeing as though we don't cross the ball I wouldn't mind seeing Garnacho up there to give defenders a different problem in these matches

He's been an important signing despite not really having very much quality. Martial has been out pretty much the whole time he's been here so he's been useful for that as a minimum. Can also help us manage Martial's minutes going forward.

Would have hell of a player if we could merge the two.

I just don’t think the guy is a united player, love his work rate, his heart but he’s almost like a much poorer version of Peter Crouch, looks clumsy, he’s a no brainer stop gap signing as I highly doubt he’ll be here when the new owners come in and he may serve a purpose in taking some of the workload from Martial.

With the five subs rule you need to have three or four players who can change the game from the bench and he can fill one of those roles to the end of the season whilst playing at least 15 more games with how brittle Martial is.

I’d like to think we need 2 elite players in every position and this squad probably still needs;

A true Sweeper Keeper( D Costa), a young quick physical CB(Gvardiol), a young number 6 destroyer (D Rice), An Elite CF (V Oshimen or D Vlahovic) add this to an Amad Dialo return, Sabitzer becoming a full signing and our squad will challenge on all fronts.

This season players are playing for their futures and I think we can safely say already that ETH has probably thought the following need to be sold - A Teles, E Bailey, H Maguire, A Tuanzebe, DVB, P Jones, S Mctominay, B Williams, A Elanga are all surplus to requirements and he’s trying to getting them all playing better or loaned out to raise additional funds in the summer not to reintegrate them into the squad.

He might get £75-100m for all of them and that will probably go towards a new war-chest of £200m from new owners. The elite players we need will cost £270- 300m. Players like Lindelof, Fred, Martial, Sancho will be given the chance to improve which they are doing and become important parts of the squad. I’m excited not by our form but by the brand of football we are trying to play and next season I think we could have two amazing sides from our squad which hopefully look like this ;

First 11- D Costa, D Dalot, R Varane, L Martinez, L Shaw, Casemeiro, Bruno Eriksen or Sancho, Antony or Sancho , * V Osimhen, M Rashford

Alternative 11 - D DE Gea, AWB, V Lindelof, *J Gvardiol, T Mallacia, * D Rice, Fred, Sabitzer, Antony or A Dialo, Martial, A Garnaucho

We Would probably play a midfield 3 of Casemeiro, *Rice and Bruno against some teams but this would be a United squad to truly fear. I say this knowing that all the new players will be incredibly difficult to get and we could have FFP issues so we might only get 2 or 3 of the 5 targets needed.

All I know is that our most important signing has already been made in ETH and for the first time in ages, it feels good to wake up in the morning and be a united fan!

Martials goal probably clouds the perception of Wouts contribution somewhat. The break for the first goal came from a turnover when Forest were just starting to push up a bit more, then one pass by Casemiro and we were away. Granted Wout probably wouldn't have been able to break at the same pace as Martial but overall his contribution seemed positive. Garnacho & Anthony weren't providing anything of any particular quality by that point, if he'd buried Casemiros cross I think people would've seen his performance differently.

He's doing a good job as a stopgap. People just need to know unrealistic standards isn't how you support a player. If we start centering play around him we will start seeing how much he can't do. The current role is what makes the team better.

Been surprised to see many calls in carious threads for him to be signed permanently. Just think about what you are saying. There are no circumstances where anyone wants Wout Weghorst to be signed as one of out striker solutions a month ago, and just because he’s here now and people are forced to push a positive spin on anything he does doesn’t mean this should change. He’s nowhere near the level of striker who should be at this club. He’s miles off the wavelength of the forwards around him.

Some people have quite odd standards for what a squad player should be, at both ends of the spectrum. You have people who seem to expect that backups should be world class players too, and then others who think anyone who runs a lot, can play football a bit and won't moan about being on the bench is good option.

For me, a Man United squad player should be someone who'd start for most midtable EPL teams. For example: Fred, yes. Elanga, no. Weghorst... well, probably not but I guess let's give him time.

It's weird that people think he was going to be Van Persie or Van Nistelrooy

He costs next to nothing on your budget. If he scores one winner this season and brings some energy/ war in the last 20 minutes it's been a good deal. If he does more he can become some cult hero like Luuk de Jong at barca

Man Utd 2:1 Crystal Palace
please stop using him. only sub

Thought he was very poor today. Presses like a crazy man though.
