It isn’t working out yet the way I hoped it would but there is a lot of good will. No chemistry with teammates yet.

Good to have some options on the bench but I really do hope that he will only be an option. He works hard but he is just not good enough to start for a top club.

Why has he gone straight in as started when we had decent form going.

It's so strange.
We don't have any other option, Martial is injured. Unless we changed formation or we played Rashford as a 9.

We seriously need Sancho back and at a good level.

Good game from him. Linked play up well. He’s a better footballer than I expected.
He was terrible. Wrong decision to start him. He lost the ball, did not offer any threat arially nor does he have the technique to keep the ball

It's like you really didn't watch the game, at all.

I am surprised by the amount of criticism Weghorst's getting. Did he play like prime Drogba today? No. However, he held the ball decently and did allow us to play off him several times. One of the issues was that only Rashford had the capability to run in beyond him. We know the guy's limitations. Nobody is expecting him to suddenly get the pace of Usain Bolt. Although, of the problems we had today, I didn't think Weghorst was anywhere near the top of the list.

So he did these things?
Yes. He did. He almost always played the right pass and had good hold up play. He pressed way more than anything we saw from Martial this season. It's actually a bit funny how wrong you could be here. Do you have the stats to show how careless he supposedly was on the ball? Completed passes etc?

He lost the ball many times due to poor technique, he was no threat whatsoever and did not contribute. If that was a good display, it can only mean you have not seen a good striker for some time

No he didn't. You are literally making things up right now.

He is slow but his layoffs were good today.

We still need to bring in a new striker in the summer. And a couple of MFs and a RB.

I thought he was alright, pressed and held the ball up quite well which I suspect is his his main role in the team. The game was lost in the midfield today and our attackers were feeding on scraps.

Can’t decide if he was good today or not. He does good things but he is so slow i‘d back Juan mata and Cesc Fabregas carrying The groceries to beat him in a race. Has some nice touches and stuff but don’t know why but he just looks so clumsy with the ball.

Need to start finding a way to play to his strengths.

We are useless finding him in general. Had good link up but he looks clumsy and slow.

What are his strengths? Serious question

I am not. Because I am aware redcafe is infested with clueless idiots.

I can’t see how anyone can watch him and be desperate for us to add Kane. Far more talented of course, but having a gear 1 striker up top is harmful.
Especially with our squad balance. Fernandes is a slow no.10 who can’t dribble or carry the ball; and Antony/Sancho/Amad as our right winger aren’t fast direct players.

We’ll be insanely one dimensional with Rashford providing the only penetration. We need a faster forward up top that CBs actually fear and respect. (Or, we surround Kane with quicker players, but that requires more than just signing him alone)

Has a name like a continental sausage based meal, but is decidedly more effective than a sausage at holding up play and linking the attack.

He played alright today, hold up play and pressing was good first half in particular. We know he’s not a world class centre forward but it’s better to have him than not.

He wasn’t careless. In fact, he was so careful with the ball that every time he managed to control it, he took the safest back pass possible. The way people are talking on here, you’d think that being able to control a pass and then pass it right back to where the pass came from is some kind of incredible skill.

Looked a lot better today, wasn't even that sluggish. Glad to see the improvement.

He does some things well but his movement reminds me of playing Resident Evil on PS1.

Worked hard but looked off the pace. He's just really, really slow...

Absolutely wrong. He had a decent game, though he needs more goal threat.

I have to admit once or twice I confused him with McT from a distance. Maybe you did the same?

You honestly think all he did was pass the ball back where it came from? What were you watching the match on? A potato?

I think he should have won more often in the aerial battles. But decent game, I get why his press stats is that high - he never stop running and got some okay linked up. But we still need a little more goal scoring aspects/threats and that’s why we definitely need a top scorer next summer.

but I like he always take 2-3 defenders attention and make space for others. Just like the Palace goal.
