I’ve come around to the idea of Rodgers being a good move for Man Utd…
Better than Ole - definite check
Capable of winning trophies - check
NO STUPID EMOTIONAL CONNECTION WITH THE SAPPY FANS - Huge check
Would get treated like a normal manager and sacked if underperforming - check
This is what Utd needs imo. Anything to get rid of the Solskjaer and the bizarre toxicity that the club has created for itself.
Could Utd do better? Yes. But at the moment the club is a joke, Rodgers could serve as a bridge out of the current situation for them.
This is a good take.
On the one hand, seeing our squad performing under a manager that has a tracked record for improving players and playing at a high level is quite exciting.
On the other, there is the fear fans/media will jump on his back because he's not Utd DNA/has Liverpool connections and I'm not sure he has er the character to power through the tough times because his teams do have a soft underbelly. He will need a strong number 2/network and perhaps if he embraces someone like Fletcher maybe it could work?
I'm only going with Fletcher because as a player I always thought he had that ruthless professionalism so maybe it can transpire behind the scenes also.
He would be a very good interim if we are to set our expectations back but we may miss on Ten Haag/the next progressive manager on the rise during that period.
