Definitely would, and he is a clear upgrade to the guy who won the lottery to be in charge of United. However, he is not as good as Pep, Klopp, Tuchel and Conte, so likely we wouldn’t win the league/UCL with him.

We would play much better football and his teams are very well drilled. We likely would reach 80+ points with him. But I do not see him taking that final step to win it all.

He's miles better than Ole. Not sure he's the one for us though and I would imagine it's nonsense anyway

Rodgers took Liverpool to be a 'nearly team' for a short time. He then lost the plot of was about 8th when he was fired.

Liverpool had to replace him with a world class coach to go to the top of the game and win the league and Europe.

Rodgers deserves credit for his work at Leicester and despite being a bit of a goon he is a likely chap - BUT to suggest he is the man to take United back to the top is insane imo.

You mean 12th place?

Well you need someone on Pep and Klopps level isnt that a reasonable assumption? So not Rodgers

Think his work at Leicester is severely overrated. He arrived at a club with good structures in place and benefited from that. It's not like he rebuilt this squad, it's a team he inherited. And FA Cup win aside they've arguably become worse in terms of performances the longer he's been there. 19/20 > 20/21 > 21/22. They've looked really poor this season by their standards.

I don't see anything from his time there that would bolster the argument for him in terms of making the step up to a top side. In fact when I see the two botched top four runs and the fact that his teams still struggle to defend I wonder why we'd think his time here would be any different to his failed time as Livepool manager. Same manager, same flaws.

If the club's vision of the qualities needed from a manager are such that Brendan Rodgers is their #1 choice then there's something fundamentally wrong with that vision.

Not sure I can adequately put into words how bad of an appointment I think Rodgers would be. Although if anyone needed any confirmation we were finished at a top club, this would be the final nail in the coffin.

We threw all our eggs in the Solskjaer basket, despite the fact he should've already been on his final warning after the EL final, we then somehow didn't have a contingency plan in case he imploded and now we're panicking and going for the only team in the league worse than us defensively  God, I hope these rumours are unsubstantiated.

The problem will surely be if he get the team top four on on a consistent basis then we'll be stuck with him?

I would take Kenny Dalglish at this point. I’ve totally lost it with Ole. I’d rather have no-one. Literally nobody. Players draw lots to see who plays. It cannot be worse than it is now. So yes I’d take Rodgers but will call for his head after first shit performance.

I would have preferred Conte, and I didn’t really like that idea either. If there was an option, I’d vote for almost anyone as caretaker manager, with us looking to get someone else in the summer.

I'd only take him as caretaker and if we have someone else lined up for next season.

That said, there is no way he is leaving Leicester for a caretaker post anyway, so I hope this is not true.

That's basically impossible.
Then, it all depends whether you believe there's anyone out there who's closer to Pep and Klopp than Solskjaer

I mean it went a little sour at the end at Liverpool but his track record for playing good football and improving results is very good. He’s now won major honours at Leicester and did as well as one could at Celtic. I just don’t think he’s got a strong enough personality for United. Without doubt the best British manager around though.

This thread has quickly taken over from the Declan Rice thread of ‘He’s from and only represented clubs from the UK, so he can’t possibly be good enough for United’. And we all know how the opinions of Declan Rice not being better than what we already have turned out to be, utter nonsense.

For a start Rodgers has managed 2 big clubs with high expectations in Liverpool and Celtic. Took Liverpool on a title challenge with a mediocre squad. Won countless trophies at Celtic and won the FA Cup with Leicester (knocking us out in the process).

He’s tactically astute and a very good man manager.

I do think he's a decent manager but something about it doesnt sit right with me imaging him as United. When I look at him I think Liverpool.

Potentially this absolute dreamboat of a football coach.

Rodgers grew up supporting United I believe.
Yeah I remember reading that when he joined Liverpool. I have no issue with him having been their manager - I have an issue with hiring the guy they sacked because he wasn’t good enough to take on the guy they replaced him with who was good enough. Seems like a recipe for failure to me.

I would 100% take him over this current situation we have. I'd bloody take Neil Warnock as caretaker if it means Solskjaer is sacked.

Based on recent events and the "Nord-Norge" sponsor I will guess.. the manager of Bodö?

edit: oh and the Bodö logo also kind of gives it away

Yes. The one and only. New Klopp ;)

On a more serious note, he's comparable to Klopp in Dortmund on a Norwegian scale in the sense that he constantly has to re-structure his team since players get sold frequently and gets results in Europe on a nothing budget. He'll likely end up in a European team at some point, maybe even steal a shot at at Championship level team

That person doesn’t exist...they have done it consistently...won trophies sure but more importantly they have all of their squad performing consistently regardless of who they select.

it’s therefore a gamble on the next big thing or a reliable 2nd tier manager

next big thing-
Ten Haag or Marco Rose for me could really build something here with the young raw materials.

best of the rest-
Gaultier, Rodgers, Enrique, Poch.

He's better than Ole and he's better than Poch. If he doesn't perform well you sack him and bring someone else in. It's not rocket science.

Have you followed United for more than 5 minutes????

Clearly not based on your last two sentences.

The question in relation to Rodgers should really be ‘Why the feck would he want to join United?’

Maybe the HSV should take notice?

I would say Schalke but I wouldn't wish that job on my worst enemy, and surely not on some stranger who seems perfectly nice and has done nothing to wrong me.

That's the problem with the board though isn't it? If someone is performing then they need to be held accountable, and he'd obviously want to join United, we are still one of the biggest club's in the world, no matter how bad we are.

Exactly!! We don’t follow simple rules and don’t react to big red flags waving under our noses.

I don’t understand why Rodgers would come here in the current format. We’re a joke of a club, arguably not as good as Leicester and got a bunch of players who are wet as feck and pathetic at best.

The link to him that i have seen seems to be that he wants to wait to the end of the season, which would make sense from his POV but still wouldn’t answer my query

No thankyou but would not be surprised if it happened, this board are fecking incompetent morons.
