Imagine what the atmosphere will be after first spell of bad results.
Our manager and the board are divided, the fans are divided and bad press is all over us after some shocking pre-season displays.
We're in the fecking gloom for couple of months now, so we need a good start of the season like never before.
You can understand both sides of the dispute, so we're going to be arguing in here till Jose's sacked some day. That's certain.
1. Mourinho could and should do more with players he's got, but the board should also provided players he's asked for, or at least cooperate with the scouts and present some alternatives. Mourinho doesn't have to know every player in the world, thats the scouts job to do research for him.
2. After seeing what happened to Bailly/Lindelof money, I can see the the board's point of view to not overpay for another CBs. But, on the other hand, we all know we need a readymade CB, so why aren't they getting this done for the team?
3. Inability to get rid of deadwood is on the board as well. Giving 5yr contract to Rojo, not letting Darmian leave on a cheap risking paying him for another season, not willing to get rid of Shaw (pretty sure Mourinho wanted new LB), Martial etc. I can see Martial being a financial asset, but what about Darmian or Shaw? If a player can't take his chances 4 years in a row, sell him and use the money to improve.
4. If you hire proven, world class manager, you back him in the market. If you trust your manager you back him in the market. If there's no trust, why bothering with the manager at all?
Trying to think positive, as there's lots of room for improvement with additions of Sanchez/Fred/Pereira/Dalot, but unfortunetely it seems like beggining of the end for Mourinho. He didn't get the players he wanted and he won't certainly be willing to take the hit after some bad results, he'll throw players and board under the bus saying "that's the squad they gave me, didn't get the players I want" etc. He's already started that during pre-season.
